She modeled the sneakers to me and walked around the store for a while before making the long awaited decision. Very low shelving allows a long and wide visual from the entrance to the back of the store. All the major brands of shoes are sold here except the styles are usually two versions behind, therefore, the price are not high retail. DSW also offers a Fit Finder machine by Aetrex that you stand on and it detects your foot size to assist customers in an easier shoe shopping experience.

At the shop, Joe (Runners Depot associate) had taken sizing to another level (something Nordstrom and the New Balance store had never done).... Joe checked my size and width just like the others but then had my arch measured and then had me walk in my old sneakers to check my gait. Turns out... Brooks Ghost are great but things that I didn't know to consider like support and stability meant that Brooks Ghost are not for me. Joe put me into a variety of sneakers (mostly Hoka and Brooks) and fast forward to the final choices... Joe got me into the "correct" width and added a pair of insoles for better support for my arch. At first I was thinking insoles are just another way to charge me dollars but wow, I tried the sneakers with and without the insoles and turns out they made a huge difference. Can you believe I ended up in a different size AND width than I was wearing... I ended up in a pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS (and love them).

This store and the other location in Hollywood are consistent in inventory but have different sneakers in their clearance area. I did find a pair of purple high top Reebok sneakers in size 13 at 50% off that sorta fit, although there were no laces to tie and with an air button that did not inflate and served no purpose except for aesthetics.

I am not going to lie, it was a bit overpriced for me. The clothes were EXTREMELY cute and I absolutely loved the style but couldn't justify the prices for a lot of it. Maui Nix Surf Shop is a pretty large place so there is lots to see and it is fun to walk around and check everything out. They have brands like Billabong, Roxy, O'Neill, and Quicksilver. They have everything from shirts, dresses, shorts, hats, sunglasses, to swimsuits. They also have some knick knacks that you can purchase while you are there. One thing that really stood out to me was the candles that looked like they were molded in a coconut (and they are buoyant, so feel free to put them in your bathtub). This was truly a very fun place and one of my all time favorite shops while I was visiting the area. Maui Nix Surf Shop is conveniently located right on the strip so you can pop in while you are bar hopping, eating, or even just browsing the area.
