I enjoyed my weekend camping here at Fool Hollow Recreation Area. This lake and campground has a little bit of something for everyone. The fee to camp here was reasonable and the campground was well maintained. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. They have 31 basic sites with fire rings and picnic tables and 92 sites that have electric and water hookups. The bathrooms have flush toilets and showers. The lake was walking distance from the campsite and we enjoyed the view of the stars at night. The park entrance gate of Fool Hollow State Park opens at 5 a.m. and closes at 8:30 p.m. You can sit by the 150-acre lake and enjoy the wild life or rent a bike, kayak, fish or hike the trails around the lake. Rainbow trout are stocked throughout the spring and summer. There are two boat ramps for motorized (maximum of 10 H.P. gasoline engines) and non-motorized watercrafts. I was able to take my kayak out on the water and had a nice day out on the lake. If you are short on supplies, stores in Show Low are just a quick 10 minute drive away.

Spent our Thanksgiving weekend here. We made reservation a few months back. They only have sites that have full hookups open. I don't know if they have maintenance issue or it is due to the holiday. Having full hookup is so amazing! In fact the best way to enjoy your camping. Sites are perfectly separated from each other. And they have double sites available as well. Our site has enough room to accommodate our trailer and one tent. I cannot find anything negative about this park. They have volunteers that go around the campground making sure you have ice or firewood. The restrooms/showers are really clean. And temperature controlled. It was a bit chilly and windy during our stay. I hope we can still find campgrounds like this.

Online said the park offers Military discount. We don't understand why they wouldn't this trip.

I'm very disappointed that on this trip we weren't honored Military discount for day use. The website says 50% off day use & last time we were able to use Military discount but on 6/15/2025 we weren't. Very Very Disappointed..

This place is a hidden gem. We drove all the way from Las Las Vegas, Nevada (about 6 hours) for father's day and we had a really great experience! We already plan on coming back with the rest of our family. We rented boat and went fishing. The showers were great and well-maintained. The There were ants around where replaced our tent which is only thing that I was kind of worried about, but we purchased bug/ants spray, and some insect repellent for it. It's also not too far away from establishments, which really helped a lot because this was our first time and we didn't have all of the stuff that we needed. Overall, I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful! The area is stunning with expansive views of the steep rock canyons and meandering lake. We visited one day after a big snow dump, so had the park almost entirely to ourselves. The Rock Squirrels were busy attending to their food caches, grebes diving, jays and juncos were flitting about. The sky was blue, the temperature on the chilly side, and the water shimmered. A perfect early November day!

Love this park. Always clean and the views are so spectacular. Love the firework show we can watch from an open field. Love Show Low small town atmosphere. It was hotter than usual over the 4th of July so spent time in the lake daily cooling off. Love the showers and flush toilet...I'm more of a clamping gal the older I get even though we tent camp. Meet great people every year. We have already booked for next year.

I've been to Fool's Hollow State Park a number of times. Fool Hollow Lake was created by construction of a dam at the confluence of Show Low Creek and Fool Hollow Wash in 1957 by the Arizona Game and Fish Department with federal assistance. The lake is at 6,300 feet in elevation, 150-acre in size and has an average depth of 23 feet. There are two boat ramps, and two large fishing docks. They rent kayaks and canoes at the east boat ramp. In 1885, Thomas Jefferson Adair moved into the area with the intention of farming. The locals joked that only a fool would try and farm the place. The name stuck! The tiny town of Adair has long since been covered by the lake, but it was Adair who was responsible for the name Fool Hollow. We have gone out boating on the lake (that's what you call it when you catch no fish ;p) The lake has large and smallmouth bass, walleye, pike, and trout. The state stocks the lake every two weeks with rainbow trout. But even if you don't catch any fish, the lake is gorgeous and fun to just see the birds and other wildlife. Despite this shallow depth, we haven't seen much algae this year even in August, only some water grasses mostly at one end that can foul line and even hook on motors. I definitely recommend Fool's Hollow and will be back. It's a beautiful area and lake for any outdoor activities.

These are about 4"deep and 4"or 5" wide. About every 40' all the way through the park!

It wouldn't take much to make this a 4 1/2 star When driving through the park. You will notice bigcra going across the roads. When you hit them all in a class A rig. You can definitely feel them. No matter how slow you go. Also be aware that a lot of the sites are double sites. So your neighbor's are 3 ft away from you. Other then that, this place is beautiful and very well kept up. All the staff has been amazing. State Park, but City's responsibility to maintain the road. Come on Show Low

Súper nice area and lake. Loved that the kids could go swimming and fishing. Just wish there were more ramadas closer to the lake.

Love this campground! It is very clean, & they have showers & flush toilets! The Camp Host came by each afternoon to see if campers wanted to buy ice. That was awesome! The lake has risen since the rainy monsoon season this year. There's even a place to rent kayaks right by the launch ramp. Had a great time in the cooler weather! Highly recommend!

Beautiful and clean campsites with full hook ups and your own fire pit! We came here for our first camping trip with our trailer and were not disappointed! You're about a 5 minutes drive to Show Low with many shops and food options. It was nice and quiet with a beautiful view, clean bathrooms, and friendly staff, we'll definitely be coming back!

Why is the lake water at such a low level?

There can be several reasons for how low this lake is..... mostly due to the lack of snowfall last year. Fools Hollow and many other lakes are extremely low. Our lakes in this area are heavily dependent on snow and rain to keep them at higher… Read more

End of summer 2023, I started making email complaints to the city manager Moron Brown. Again within the last few weeks I sent him more emails about the rust, peeling possible LEAD paint and TOXIC MOLD in the women's shower room. Once again Moron Brown is dismissing my complaints of toxic mold that has not been properly remediated. He insists the property was thoroughly cleaned and is being properly maintained and is acting as if I'm the problem. Well I have pictures as proof and a doctor diagnosed mold allergies. Excessive toxic mold that is not been properly remediated by a certified mold technician, broken tiles, 5 inch strands of CRAP hanging from the ceiling where there's a layer of filth and rust on the ductwork and vents.. Moron Brown says there are over 2,000 people a month that use the Show Low Aquatic Center. I know damn well I'm not the only one that has mold allergies. I've seen a woman in the pool with a breathing apparatus. There are a lot of senior citizens like myself that have breathing issues. Mold Removal and Treatment Water and mold damaged in kitchen cabinet. Mold becomes a problem inside a home or business when there's excessive humidity or moisture for an extended period of time. The problem can originate from sudden water releases, like a burst pipe or large spill that goes untreated, or from a chronic condition, such as a leaking roof or plumbing. Even high humidity or warm, moist air condensing on cool surfaces can trigger mold problems. It's always best to have the mold evaluated and removed by a certified professional. Mold can grow almost anywhere in a home or business if conditions permit. If there is visible growth on painted wall surfaces, property owners should be concerned about what may be growing on the wall's opposite side. The environment inside the walls of a house often differs drastically from the outside and could create a perfect haven for mold. If the wall remains wet for a prolonged period, it's almost guaranteed that the mold growth on the back side will be worse than on the front. At that point, containing the work space and removing moldy materials, followed by cleaning of salvageable framing, are the best options. Mold can be seen and smelled. Be alert to the colors as mold can be any color including white, orange, pink, green, purple, brown, or black. Mold usually has a musty or earthy odor. Why Mold Removal is Critical for Your Health and Well Being Mold is airborne and the most common cause of respiratory problems. Symptoms include headache, allergic reaction, runny nose, and skin rash. In extreme cases, mold can lead to fungal growth in the lungs, asthma, internal bleeding and, very rarely, death. Those most "at risk" to mold exposure include: children, elderly, immune-suppressed individuals, recent surgery patients, and people with chronic inflammatory lung diseases such as asthma, hypersensitivity pneumonitism and severe allergies. Among the most common molds found during testing in Arizona properties exhibiting signs of Mold include: Alternaria Basidiospores Chaetomium Cladosporium Penicillium/Aspergillus-like Stachybotrys Show Low City manager Morgan Brown MOLD, BROKEN TILES, FILTHY EXPOSED DUCT WORK AND CEILINGS WITH RUST AND PEELING PAINT IS NOT PROPERLY MAINTAINED. Moron seems to think that's to CODE well let's go look at it. I do not believe for a minute that he would allow that in his bathroom. No big deal that children line up for the slide.. right next to the exposed metal box hot tub turn on switch.
