But now that I'm a local in the Caulfield area, it's become number one in my books. The couple that own it are really nice and do a great job getting to know their customers. It's like going to a family run store knowing you'll get top notch service every time. The couple are really good with recommendations too so if you're torn between brands, they can advise you which might be better for the dish you're preparing. Like all Asian grocery stores, you can find everything to do with Asian cooking here and some more rare ingredients like Laksa leaf (needed for curry laksa) and durian (frozen). They also sell a range of nyonya kueh (Asian desserts) and on some days you can get yu tiao (fried dough sticks) for porridge.

Might want to get in there earlier in the day if you want a larger variety in the meat section as it seems to shift fairly quickly, Same goes for the fresh bread/baguettes they have in the back near the deli (the ones on the clear cupboard) but the bread in those is amazing and the 6 pack bags of turkish rolls are fantastic and a decent price for a quality!. There is a ton of variety if you are a fan of gluten free or alternative foods/health options as they seems to have more of that than other stuff., Sadly their deli is a bit lacking but that's mainly because it isn't as big as most supermarkets but they will gladly slice meats for you fresh as long as you get there before 7pm..as the sign says they use cleaning fluid on it around that time and can't use it afterwards.

Okay, maybe that's stretching the truth a little... but my sister who has lived here for years recollects what an inconvenience it was not having this precious little deli down the road. And when Bambra Deli finally reopened, loyal customers swamped the place like bees to honey. I recall my own excitement as I passed by and saw the lights on inside. Instinctively, I parked the car and headed in to grab some fresh bread, homemade tuna salad spread, egg salad spread and a jar of pickled purple cabbage. The great thing about this little gem of a find, is even though it stocks all the regular essentials like bread, milk and juice, it also carries a fine selection of gourmet style produce. Perfect for those who love the (small) finer things in life.
