Get the poke! Service phenomenal, food- amazing! And a well set grocery store. I would recommend going to food land for ANY tourist.

DISCLAIMER REVIEW FOR POKE ONLY :: I just had the worst poke bowl I've ever had in my life. I did not go in store to purchase it, someone else brought it home to me. I would've immediately noticed that the fish is NOT worth eating. I'm starving. We are in a flash flood watch. I forced myself to give it a shot, & immediately was filled with regret as I spit it back out. It was disgusting & my "limu poke," wasn't even POKE. It was straight up mush. I'm even second-guessing if it was even ahi. I've never seen poke like that before, how it immediately disintegrated while using my chopsticks to pick it up. Not even the kine that is made to be patty style. I know it's previously frozen, but I have no idea what that was. On top of all of that there was a black hair in my poke. ** As seen in the photo ** My mouth dropped open when I saw the reviews of people raving about how good it is.... then I clicked on their profiles & saw they're all tourist, so of course they like it. As a local, do NOT waste your money. My food went straight in the trash. There's actually no good poke places on this side...even the Tamura's Hau'ula is the worst one on the island. I need to drive all the way to Kaneohe to Kbay Bros to get decent poke smh. read more

Was my first time here at foodland. Came here after our polynesian tour. Just wanted to get some snacks on the way back to our hotel. Found out that this location did not sale alcohol which was a bummer. There fresh seafood section is already close since its 9pm. We were able to get some snacks. Friendly cashier and quick in and out. Will have to visit other foodland locations. read more

Loved this supermarket while traveling to Hawaii. They have everything you can need. Love their prepared food and their deserts. I really like their merch too. I guess that's why my friend said it wasn't good. It could be a hit or miss. Full service grocery. We stayed in Kuilima Estates (condos at Turtle Bay) and had a full kitchen. We were able to get enough grocery items to eat several lunches and dinners along with lots of snacks. Other than the price (I know, it's Hawaii!!!) this is a good spot. How in da heck did I end up at the Laie Foodland on a Friday afternoon??? Oh yeah, my coworker was leaving for vacation when all of a sudden he had a service call in Kahuku. Knowing that he was leaving for vacation, I guess he didn't want to run this late service call when he nicely asked me to "help a Bruddah out?" Me, being the good guy that I am, I decided to run out to Kahuku in the early afternoon from town. Of course going to Kahuku on a Friday afternoon ain't the most ideal thing to do, as it took me about an hour & a half to get to Kahuku from town (of course it didn't help that I got stuck in traffic by Schofield, as there was a car accident). Upon finishing up the job in Kahuku, it was almost 4:00 PM and I realized that I hadn't even eaten lunch yet, and that's how I ended up at the Laie Foodland! My original plans when I walked into this Foodland was to get some Salt & Vinegar Wings, but upon getting a bottle of water, I just so happened to walk pass the seafood dept. and saw the poke selection. Nix da wings, a poke bowl sounded good to me, so that's what I ended up getting. When I looked over the poke, I found it pretty hard choosing a poke bowl, as Foodland has a pretty big selection, but at the end, I ended up getting a Spicy Ahi Poke Bowl w/White Rice. Normally I would get Brown Rice (I prefer brown), but the brown rice was still cooking, so white it was! What can I say about my Poke Bowl??? For $6.99 + some change, I must say it was DEALAGES Yo!!! Fresh tasting poke, not overly spicy, but tasty indeed! The serving size was just right! Not too much to put me over da edge, especially since I had to drive a long way to get home. Me no likey end up driving by braille! Lol! If ya haven't been to Foodland lately for a poke bowl, make the time & support local! Stopped by at this Foodland multiple times to stock up. A curious fact is that they don't sell alcohol since it is a Mormon town. Super nice friendly staff except for the grumpy person at the poke counter. read more

This place was happening! It has a great mix of practical supplies, essential food items for the hotel/condo, gifts and souvenirs, as well prepared meals. All of the prepared food was incredible and super reasonably priced! All of the employees were friendly and helpful. We stopped in on our second day and then made it a point to visit several more times on our trip. Would definitely recommend, and as crazy as it sounds, I would tell you that you MUST visit to try their musubi! read more

We've lived in La'ie for over a year. Great people at this place. Super thoughtful, friendly and kind. They carry everything we've needed - and more. A good variety. Great produce section. When we mentioned we wanted poke, a friend said to check out Foodland. Since it wasn't too far from where we were, we decided to drop by. The four of us got here on Monday, March 4th around 1:30pm. Instead of getting tuna poke, I believe we got two different raw crabs (one spicy and one soy), tako, and scallops. The scallops were my fav. Nice and meaty. The tako had a nice chew, but was overly seasoned. We had octopus from another spot at the same time and I liked how the texture and natural flavor shined through in that one more. The crabs were okay. I'm used to having a korean version the roommate's mom makes and I prefer those much better. These were a little more mellow in flavor. Foodland is more than a grocery store; for me, it's a foodie tourist attraction. Macadamia, pineapple, mango, banana, coconut, and all the other tropical fruits abound. Also look for Hawai'ian taro, gobo, takuwan, shrimp chips, fish cake, oxtail, tripe, kalua pork, laulau, butter mochi, Portuguese sausage, poke, and poi. Their poke wins awards every year for quality and freshness. Locals told us the best poke is found right here at Foodland, period. The seafood section is worth a trip of its own, and I love seeing the towers of canned Spam. The "made in Hawai'i" section had everything we needed for souvenirs headed back to the mainland. Those spam musubi shopping bags were just too cute to pass up. Go spend a little bit of time at Foodland before you head back to the Lower 48 (upper 48?) and enjoy the selection and savings. This is a very clean, modern food store with a very good selection of everything you need except alcohol at this location. The prices are the prices in Hawaii, nothing to be done. I liked that the cashier tipped us that if we give our phone number we get a discount, so we saved a little money. While visiting from out of town, we wanted to stock up on some groceries for our AirBNB. This little grocery store was located right across the street-perfectly convenient for us. They have all the staples you'd expect in a grocery store: produce, canned stuff, deli, bakery, etc. The one thing they don't have: alcohol. No biggie for us, but if you're looking to stock up for a tailgate, this isn't your place. Prices are a bit higher than I've seen elsewhere. We only bought what we absolutely needed. Service was friendly and it was easy enough to navigate. If I lived locally, I might seek out other less expensive options, but the convenience of this one wins out for small shopping trips. read more

We are not regulars at this Foodland but we do stop in sometimes when we are cruising around the island. During our stops at this Foodland, we have never had a problem. Everything seems well stocked, store is very clean and organized and customer service is always fantastic. On our last trip there, they had a bunch of NFL items on clearance which was great minus the fact that they didn't have my team but they are forgiven lol :) I think a Foodland is a must in every city in Hawaii. They might not be the cheapest when it comes to certain items but their sales are usually really great and they have a great selection of items. Check it out. read more

This is one of the two Foodland stores in the North Shore area. This one is located in a small shopping center in Laie. The parking lot is shared with other businesses in the area, but there is still enough for everyone. It is not too busy at this location, compared to the ones in town. This is convenient if you live in the area or if you are driving around the North Shore and wanted to stop by to buy something to eat and/or drink. read more

Good convenient spot to pick up some stuff on a long north shore drive. No booze. If you're heading to any of the surf spots from windward or just taking the scenic route west its great to stock up here. I didn't find it that busy compared to supermarkets west. I mean as you approach Waimea and Haleiwa it gets super crowded and traffic bottlenecks as well/ So it'll be lots of cars and people. read more

The next thing I know, this angel from God came to me and asked one simple question. "Can I help you?" Astonished and taken back, I asked for what I NEEDED! How can I not be a fan? I mean if the locals are feeling it, why wouldn't I? So besides providing yours truly with desperately needed groceries like fresh fruit, snacks, and drinks, they also make some good food. Poke is yummy and satisfies when that craving hits. Donuts are continually being churned out in the morning and are fresh hot and goes good with just brewed cup of Kona. And hot bentos that are being freshly prepared throughout the day are a tasty snacks. Which expectations as high when compared to the food lands scattered throughout Kauai, the Chicken Musubi and breakfast platters were disappointing. The chicken on the musubi was stringy and chewy, the rice was dry and there was no sauce included inside the musubi. I nearly ate two bites and gave up. This is a great place to go for the convenience factor. It's the only grocery store for miles and is decent in what they offer. Be aware it is pricy. A pomegranate is about $7 here. Best deals are eggs and pineapples haha. read more
