Conveniently located next to the hospital. This is the convenient store at the gas station. Unfortunately the a/c doesn't seem to work very well. And although I can't pin-point dirtiness. I must say it felt stuffy and overall unclean. Staff is nice and friendly. Parking is easy. Location right if the freeway. read more

Go early, they run out and you will find the barbacoa you know plus the mixta kind. On top of this, this little convenience store has a but of everything you need to get you through the day - from cerveza to limes, from aspirin to smokes. La Cabana has been a staple of the area, with that mom-n-pop feel that you just do not get from a Valero, Shell, Exxon, or other wanna-be convenience store. In fact, it's so convenient that La Cabana elevated itself to Bodega status - knowing what the people want, stocking it, then staying true to local roots with the best barbacoa and menudo available on Sundays. Worth a stop if you need just about anything, and perfect to quench your thirst with a cerveza or if you need to pick up the occasional avocado, peppers, or chiles you forgot. Stop once, stop often, stop at La Cabana in Brownsville, Texas.
