Food City is in the same parking lot with a local hotel so it's convenient if you need a snack or some drinks while staying in the area. For a small town they do have a decent beer selection and have recently added a Starbucks for your morning caffeine fix. Bought what was supposed to be a whole beef tenderloin for thanksgiving. Upon opening I discovered Food City had cut the center (the best and most expensive part) out and placed the head and tail together and passed it off as a whole tenderloin. But missing the filet mignon. If not illegal it's at least unethical. Will never be bach. read more

The store is always bright and clean. They have virtually anything that anyone could want as is related to food and even lots of other items. The staff is always very helpful and very friendly and some even call you by name. I personally think they are top notch and it's a store I always look forward to visiting-especially when hungry! read more

I have never had an issue with our local Food City in Hazard. They have always been helpful and accommodating to any and all my needs. They always have my favorite pop in stock when no one else does also. read more

This store is fantastic!!! They have the best meats, the best produce and the best selection of groceries and other items in this area. The employees are very helpful and eager to please. This makes for a very pleasant shopping experience. If I ever have a problem, I just talk to the customer service person and everything is always taken care of, even better than I expected. I am so thankful that this store is here. The only thing that I would change if it were possible is it would be great if their Sale Circular went from Sunday through Saturday like it used to. The Sale Circular is now delivered to my home on Friday and the sale runs through Tuesday. But otherwise, I have no complaints at all about Food City. read more

This place is a great place to shop!!! The only thing I don't recommend is eating the hot food from the deli. However, the staff is friendly, the product selection is great, and I'd also like to point out that the quality of the produce beats out every other store. I went to food City this afternoon to pick up a few things on my way home from the hospital the lines were full so I went thought the self check out first time using theres I pay for with a card and it gave me coupons and what I assumed was receipt as leaving the store the guy at the counter that watches the check out counter said have a good day as walking thought the parking lot this young boy runs out screaming saying you didn't pay for your food I told him yes I did and he still with a loud voice saying no I said let's walk back in the store and handle this it was a total misunderstanding and I have never stole anything and don't intend on it this could have been handled a little better.There was no apology and a bunch of people around and I was so embarrassed and like I said this could have been handled in a better way we were not even to out car and he did not have to scream and acted the way he did well needless to say I did not purchase the grocery and I will never be back in the store and I think the employs should be told how to better handle things like this mistakes happen you should not be treated bad because of it read more

There is a lot of variety, but all of the fruit is always molded and brown. Especially strawberries and raspberries. I know it is hard to keep those fresh, but I have grocery shopped in other areas at Krogers and their fruit is always fresh. They do not leave as much molded brown berries out as food city does. The bananas they carry now are always brown and if you are lucky and get some that are green, they are completely brown within 2 days. I like to eat healthy, and fruits are my favorite foods. Food City makes it hard to keep my healthy lifestyle going. Also, a lot of the cold foods are out of date. I bought two things from the refrigerated section, and maybe it is my fault for not checking the date, but both items expired that day. Some things are better for a couple days after they expire, but these particular items were not ok. They were watery and nasty. I did not appreciate spending almost 10 dollars on items i could not even eat. This is not the first time this has happened. They don't keep an eye on their foods to make sure everything is fresh. If things are out of date or expiring that day they should give a discount like they do on lettuce if it is expiring soon. Instead, the items that are going bad are left sitting on top of the rest where the shopper can grab it first. Usually I do look at the date, and I would say a lot of people do, but sometimes we want to get into the grocery and get out. We don't want to have to worry about checking dates on food to see if the groceries we are spending our hard earned money on are going to be edible the next day.Sometimes almost all of the item you are looking for is out of date, which stinks if you really need that item as an ingredient in something that you are making. Then, you have to leave the grocery without a key item that you needed because they didn't check the item to make sure it was fresh. They could at least take it off from the shelf instead of leaving expired foods for their customers to see. My family and I have always shopped at Food City, and I have noticed that their quality has gotten worse after all of the changes they have gone through. They changed some of the foods and brands they carry, and their fruit and food standards are diminishing. One good thing that I do like about all the changes to Food City is the addition of an organic/natural section. I love organic foods and try to use organic products as much as possible. Food City needs to keep that up, and needs to improve in other areas. read more
