The fountain is in a small park not far from Ponte Garibaldi. This was a nice spot to rest for a bit and listen to our tour guide tell us a bit about Rome and Roman history. The park is full of bright green trees and while there's still some noise, it's a nice little oasis.
The fountain dates back to 1890 and is a single piece of granite that was uncovered in 1887 during the excavation of the Forum. While you probably shouldn't drink and of the standing water in the fountain, there is a separate fountain with running water that is allegedly potable.
