Unfortunately from the 16th to 19th century this place became a public execution site. Yikes. The most famous execution was Giordano Bruno in 1600, in which there is now a statue in his honor for freedom of thought. Happy thoughts, happy thoughts. Pass forward to present day. This area is lively with the open air markets where you can find vendors selling produce, flowers, spices, cheese, and artisanal goods. My boyfriend and I came here to explore the live market and also to look for souvenirs to bring home. The vendors here are really aggressive and I would have enjoyed it more if they gave me space to look instead of hound me to buy buy buy. Like chill dude can I look at what I'm buying. Sigh. We were here til closing time and even get to see how the vendors efficiently and quickly packed up their stalls and belongings to wrap up for the day. And of course... a great area to enjoy some gelato.

Vendors heckle, truffle oil flows freely, and yes, someone will try to sell you limoncello in a boot. My friends and I loved it so much we ended up doing Top Secret room right after. And we are coming back tomorrow to do a few of the rooms. Roger was our host and he was extremely friendly, telling us about all the room and showing us around, the deco of the lobby was amazing, loved all the Star Wars stuff around. The games themselves are very challenging and you don't need to know any language to solve the puzzles. A+ from me.

The Vatican gardens are another amazing wonder of the VC. They showcase various sculptures,…read morefountains, gifts given to popes and other amazing nooks and crannies with various flora and fauna surrounding it all. We got to view it because we had a tour of the museums that included the gardens. I believe you can only view it by controlled guided tour! Our tour guide took us through describing all the different sculptures and their significance to the Vatican. Many were gifts from heads of state. Others were placed with significance form popes from previous times. There are so many places for the people who live in the Vatican to come and find peace or relax and reflect! There is even a helipad in the back corner so the Pope can hop in and head off to his summer villa. On our tour it was even mentioned that some Popes enjoyed hunting back in the day of different animals that roamed the garden. Awesome...ancient Pope's hunted! Maybe Phil Robinson (aka Duck Dynasty) could come hunt in the garden with uncle Psi and the current Pope! You can get some different perspectives of the different buildings of the vatican from a different vantage point and really appreciate and see a different natural outdoor beauty of the Vatican!

This place was less than a mile from my hotel and stayed open late. The day rate is incredibly cheap, considering they could gouge workout-desperate tourists. I was expecting to pay far more than the 8.90 €. The gym is old and in a basement with approximately 8 small rooms through the two floors. Each room is pretty small, no bigger than 20 SF except for one room for stretching and core, which is quite large considering the space. Mix and match equipment, but it's got all you need. Free weights, machines, cardio, floor space and mats. Cash only for day rate or pay online with credit card. The owner, Derrick, was kind enough to accept my credit card for the day rate, even though it's against policy. The connection was bad and I was able to pay online. Cell service is terrible in the area and I couldn't connect to the WIFI, but I think this was my phone's issue. There was even a trainer walking around offering tips and encouragement. If I have time before I leave tomorrow, I will go back. I'm very glad to have found this place! It's nothing fancy but is well worth the price.

It looked significant, so we walked over and read up on what we were seeing. Turns out this is where it is commonly believed that Julius Caesar met his et tu end. Rome, right? There's no avoiding sites of staggering historic importance. The site is now a sort of open square, fenced off in such a way that you can't just walk in but can see everything from the street. It contains four Roman Republican temples and the remains of Pompey's Theatre, apparently the first permanent theatre to be built in Rome, completed in 55 BC. Julius Caesar was assassinated at Pomepy's Theatre, so I guess even if it didn't happen within the square, it was certainly close enough. Two thousand years and change later, Largo di Torre Argentina became an official cat sanctuary, with a shelter opening in 1993. My husband visited Rome in 1997 and remembers seeing cats everywhere. He says there are noticeably fewer now, and I think we only saw one when we visited this square. Though did I see a cat, or do I just know, reading about the place now, that I was maybe supposed to see one? I honestly can't say. But in my mind, I can picture a cat, fluffy and grimy, resting by the fence. The picture of Caesar is less defined, but I can see him there too, leaving his blood in the square.

When going through Rome, I biked passed this store and thought "my bike needs a little tweaking"; brakes aren't working that well, bike chain needs some oil, one of the handles slipped off (yeah, I'm a fierce biker...). Walked in, asked if they could do some minor repairs and they told me to wait ten minutes. The bike was fixed on the spot, even the tires got some extra air. All perfect, perfect. And then...? NO need to pay? What, why, eh, whuuuut? "How come", I asked, perfectly wiling to pay something. "Nope, that's our service". Well eh, thank you! What a great service is that?! They sell all sorts of bike materials here and, as it looked, fair prices. They sell new & secondhand bikes for super reasonable prices (e.g. €40 for a bike); some classy 'hipster' bikes, rockin' beach bikes, racing bikes, and everything in between. So, there you have it - good service, good repairs, reasonable prices. Happy happy biking y'all!
