From their web site: Fong & Chun, LLP is an immigration law firmm located in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles, California and is devoted exclusively to the practice of immigration and nationality law. The firm handles immigrant and nonimmigrant matters, investor and worker visas, and nationality questions. The firm also provides assistance regarding US-Canada migration and also non-traditional families. So DUH! it was that last part that caught my attention. My partner is from HK and we need to retain an attorney that will "get" our situation and be sensitive to our non-traditional family values. Well I'm not afraid to say the immigration "industry" is more than a little scary. I had almost lost hope in finding the help we needed. That is until we met Eileen Chun-Fruto and J. Craig Fong. Eileen met with us for our consultation and halfway through brought in Jay to talk to us. They both took the time to understand what we wanted and then they offered suggested routes, weighing many options and putting it all on the table. There was no pressure to retain, no pressure to buy a pre determined course of action, no package deals including a trip down scary alley! Both Eileen and Jay are very professional but more importantly approachable. I have to say we were very impressed with their straightforward consultation. If you need an immigration attorney you should check them out! read more

Eileen and her team have been fantastic to our company over the years. She helped process four successful H1B visas for us and helped us navigate through many issues. She's always been extremely helpful, courteous and generous with her time. I can't say enough good things about our experience with her and her team. I highly recommend her for any immigration-related needs. read more

What can I say? I needed help right away, and I was able to get it through J. I had found his website via a google search, so I decided to do a consult with him. His office is convenient located and staff are all really nice. I had needed a TN visa, but my employer had a difficult time understanding what the TN visa was and the legality of it all. So when I went to J, I had already done a lot of research on a TN visa, and J was able to confirm with me a lot of the details. Coincidentally, J actually knew one of my employers, and offered to make a personal phone call for me to try to explain to him what my visa was about. That was one magical phone call. My employer wouldn't sign the letter previously, but after he made the phone call, my employer gave me what I needed. However, when I went to Canada to the port of entry for my TN, I was rejected. I contacted J immediately to see what I needed to do and he gladly answered the questions I had. He even offered to help write whatever else I needed. Overall, J is dedicated, professional, and is willing to go the extra mile for you, even though I am a brand new client. I will be going to him for any of my future immigration issues. read more

Mr. Fong gave me various bits of great advice over a period of several months and didn't charge me a penny. When we finally asked him to manage our application, he told us that we could probably fill out the paperwork ourselves. We hired him to do it anyway, and we're glad we did. Everything about him was expert, confident and comforting. His fee was affordable (our previous attorney was twice as expensive, and completely ineffective). We got our "happily ever after" sooner than expected, and we have Mr. Fong to thank for it. The whole thing was a great experience, and I would (and I do) recommend Mr. Fong to anyone needing an immigration attorney. read more

Since moving to the US from Canada in 2005, Eileen has helped me first with a TN Visa, then my wife's H1B, then an O-1 for myself, and just recently she secured Green Cards for my entire family. Along the way she has shown herself to be an expert in her field, a tireless worker and perhaps most importantly, I knew that she cared about our family. If there was a way to help us, she would find it. I almost wish there was another status to go for so that we could keep working with her. At one point, the company I worked for asked me to go to another immigration attorney who "specializes" in O-1 visas. After thousands of dollars, many mistakes, and a great deal of frustration were expended on the other attorney, we went back to Eileen who made the same task seem easy. read more

My husband and I chose Mr. Jay C. Fong after talking to several other lawyers in Los Angeles. I read a review about him and the fact that it was describing him as very compassionate, yet extremely professional, caught my attention and so we decided to give it a try. We got married last year and I'm from Europe, he's much younger than me and I had a previously denied visa application with another lawyer so I needed a good lawyer who would help us with the papers and be with us at the interview. On our first free consultation he went through the entire procedure in details, told us what was needed and unlike other lawyers who had seemed simply too optimistic in terms of when I would receive the notice for fingerprints or the notice for interview with the Immigration etc, he proved to be very honest and realistic about it. However I received all the notices within the times he said if not earlier. He is knowledgeable, straightforward yet friendly and really seems to know the immigration field like the back of his hands. Also we didn't feel pressured to sign anything on our first meeting. Afterwards I was able to call his law firm and ask him further questions. When I finally made up my mind and asked if we could pay the fee in installments he gladly accepted and when in one occasion we had difficulty paying our monthly fee he pushed back the monthly charge. His assistant Karla also proved to be essential, she called us several times to remind us of missing documents, deadlines and helped us fill in the forms. After dealing with lawyers who very often didn't return my phone calls or were never reacheable, I enjoyed very much having someone like Karla on our side. They met us halfway in everything. Mr. Fong answered all my questions and doubts, spoke to me over the phone several times when I needed to be reassuered about something, which happened quite often as I am a very, and I'll repeat very, anxious person. He then prepared us carefully for the interview, even staging a "worst case scenario" one and frankly spoke to us about the possible problems we could encounter at the interview, which actually ended up incredibly smooth. I received my green card in the mail not even 10 days later. I am extremely grateful to Mr. Fong and his assistants Karla and Andrew and we highly reccomend him to anybody with immigration needs for his knowledge and integrity. We're very happy we trusted that review, but more important we trusted him and his work. He really cares about his clients and truly rejoices in their success. read more

Eileen is the best lawyer that I have ever met. My whole H1B case was very complicated. My first H1B petition was handled by another lawyer "KG". He and his staff are the most irresponsible people I have ever met. They caused a lot of drama with my first application. After they took a very long time preparing my application, regardless of my urgent situation, USCIS first issued an RFE (Request for Evidence) then rejected my 1st H1B petition. It was extremely disappointing for me because if I had to leave the US, not only would I lose my job but I also would be forced to leave my partner. Because we are a same-sex couple and the government does not recognize our relationship the same as straight couples, he cannot sponsor me a green card. I basically had no other option. Luckily, a friend introduced me to Eileen and she looked through my case and invited me to her office for consultation. Her recommendation was for me to re-file for an H1B and she believed that she could help me. She was so nice and made us feel so comfortable with her. We could also see that she was very knowledgeable and organized even just in the first consultation. Therefore, we were very confident to have Eileen prepare the application for me to re-file my H1B petition. She started to work with my employer and it took only TWO weeks (YES! 2 WEEKS) for her to prepare all of my documents and the whole application. Around two and half months later, I had my H1B approved WITHOUT an RFE. Many people think that it is very hard to get a visa approval if you have been rejected before; however, Eileen made it possible to turn around my case. Without her hard work and knowledge, I would not be able to stay with my love. Also, Eileen is very gay friendly. Therefore, I would recommend her to everyone especially the LGBT community and same-sex, bi-national couples who, because of DOMA, have more difficult immigration problems. read more

I called five lawyers for my husbands green card renew. It was dismal. They were all untrustworthy and most not very nice. But I cant say enough about Eileen. She is really wonderful and she worked really quickly. Her personality is incredible, she is trustworthy and intelligent. Once you talk to her you will see what i mean. She is THE best at what she does. A really Stand Up amazing Lawyer. Thank you so much Eileen Chun-Fruto for all your help. read more

J. Craig Fong was recommended to me by two of his very satisfied clients. I sent him an email, and within a few hours he replied by phone. After talking with me for a full half hour and giving me a detailed legal assessment of my situation, he referred me to three other lawyers who, he felt, would be better equipped to address my specific needs--and he didn't charge me for ANY of this! J's knowledge, enthusiasm, generosity, and warm humanity were impressive. So was his sense of humor. The very sweetest thing to me as a gay man, however, was J's understanding of the unique probIem that immigration poses for "non-traditional" families like mine. I hung up with the feeling that I had experienced "lawyering" at its best. Thank you, J! read more
