The dining experience is amazing, lengthy, tasty and of course expensive, but well worth it. The restaurant is located outside Stockholm, far from the city centre in a residential neighbourhood. The outside of the building is labelled 'Living' for reasons that were unclear, and we were briefly suspicious that our Uber had dropped us in the wrong place, but in fact this was the restaurant and we were greeted outside by handshakes and welcome from senior staff members. The dining environment is compact, with only space for a few guests each evening. It is divided into two sections, a lounge area with living room chairs and small tables, and a traditional dining room. The experience begins and ends in the lounge, but moves to the dining room for the middle ~5 courses of the ~15 course meal. It seemed like this structure might be designed to make space for more people, but that wasn't the point - instead the goal was to create different ambience for different food. The menu called "Earthling" (picture attached of the summary and for each course) was diverse, eclectic, delicious and surprising. Several courses contained ingredients that I have previously found unappealing but which were delicious in this context. Each course was impeccably prepared and presented, small in size (to allow for the 15 courses), and quite different from each other. While there are many things to recommend about this experience, the food is the core of what makes it great. As you would expect, service was top notch at all time, with a team providing flawless service and assistance. Each dish was described at delivery and the whole experience was consistently and calmly delivered in a friendly, informal environment. If you can afford this kind of luxury, I strongly recommend this amazing experience. Great!

No you didn't hear me wrong...the suburbs. In a normal house, where you may watch the neighbor kids playing in the back yard while you eat. The fantastic staff greets you as you arrive. Ushering you up the driveway like an old friend. As you enter the house you quickly realize this is much more than just another "suburban house." This is a refined and polished fine dining establishment. You start in the main room for dinner. The young and eager staff is ready to cater to whatever you need. Chef Daniel and Niclas are running this scrappy restaurant with a ton of heart. And even though they are head chefs they treat you like family. This menu reaches a lot further than Scandinavia. These young men are reinventing and innovating dishes from all over the globe. Broth with deer fallow you could slurp down daily. A crudo exploring Asian and American flavors. Squid noodles taking you to south east asia. And a lamb dish bringing you to North Africa! What's even more exciting is after dinner you get to retire to the parlor room and sip brandy and have dessert. You have to check this place out.

By no means a space for modernity nor a new age kitchen, the interior Art Nouveau from its painted ceilings and gilded molding to heavy wooden seats, guests entering Opera Bar will find most present during the week donning suits, discussion of business occurring in English and Swedish with a security detail even present on this particular day though nothing about the afternoon seemed unsafe or out of place. Able to see part of the Opera House by way of a trip to the restroom, an elegant feel not unlike most European theaters unsurprising, it was upon return to the table that Bread to be taken by hand from a basket was offered, the seemingly odd gesture from a place otherwise so refined nonetheless yielding soft and dense slices of Rye ready to be slathered with Butter plus delicate Crisps. Happy to have strolled through Kungsträdgården Park en route to make room after a busy morning of eating it was eschewing actual Appetizers that a plate of classic Swedish Meatballs started a three-course meal for two guests, ingredients supposedly the same as those next door yielding five small orbs not nearly as tender as those at Pelican nor Meatballs for the People, though the thin Cream Sauce was complex and rich both on its own or atop pureed Potatoes that contained nearly equal parts Starch and Butter. Taking in the scene while dining, an absence of the music ubiquitous in Restaurants today putting more focus on a "who's who" dynamic that clearly saw servers favoring certain tables, it was after a requested refill of Water that plates of Sausage and Quenelles de Brochet arrived, the former a classic Swedish dish with lots of texture that outperformed one past experience at Aquavit in New York while the souffléd Fish fell flat thanks to under-seasoning and Fennel which muted any Lobster flavor in the Sauce. Surveying a lengthy Dessert menu before making a decision, the sizable portions and richness already adding up, it was on the advice of others that Operabaren's Butter Cream and Meringue Cake was selected over items featuring Rhubarb or Chocolate with Walnuts, the results thankfully justifying an entire meal thanks to crisp yet nearly weightless Almond Meringue layered above and below Cream that tasted like sweetened butter but ate like Mascarpone Cheese.

This is a great place to go out with your sweetie. We had a couple minor problems. We booked at bokabord for dinner, and were shooed out after a certain amount of time for the next people who booked the table. We really didn't notice how slow the service was because the ambience is very relaxed, but this wasn't the way to handle it on their part. I think they could have tried to speed up service more discreetly rather than asking us to leave. The second problem was the pricing on the menu was misleading. This could not be a language issue, as we had the English copy of the menu. We ordered the steak meal that said minimum 2 persons, with the price, but when we got the bill it had the menu price doubled for 2 people. I wasn't happy with this because it felt a bit dishonest, but not unhappy enough to complain because the food was very tasty and overall, the experience was very enjoyable. The place has a cozy feel and I especially love stopping by in autumn and winter for some soup or casseroles. They also do excellent salads so for spring an summer that is a great alternative. Price wise it is in the mid-range (in Stockholm) but lunches are often good value. Reservations are recommended as the place fills up quickly (they do however have some seats along the window that are for walk-ins). Wine list is not super extensive but what they have on it is carefully selected. The one thing that has not been top class on my past visits is the service. It has been knowledgeable but they have somewhat lost the friendliness that I used to find here. Service is by no means bad or rude so still above the average but not as great as it used to be. While it is cozy it is still not the place for discrete conversations as the tables are close to each other so one can easily hear what others are talking about. To summarize still one of the better French mid-range restaurants in town.

The decor is nice, the ambiance is romantic, and the music is terrific. The food is filling and delicious. You can enjoy a meal at the bar or sit at a table inside (or outside in the summer). The staff is friendly and accommodating. A great spot to have a drink or enjoy a satisfying meal from their simple and authentic menu. You'll find a lot of regulars here.
