I thought maybe their "$75 and up" was a loss leader for a gerbil or something and they would quote me a high price, but no, my dog weighed 40 pounds and the price was $100, which is fair. $130 got the ashes returned to me in a complimentary urn (tin can). Better urns were $20 and up, all quite reasonable. They were very reasonable. I would do this any day over paying inflated vet prices. read more

Beloved pet of 17 years died last week, dropped him off next day, took them a whole week to get his ashes back, and had to keep calling to ask when would be ready. Just picked his remains up, and all they did was put them in a bag. Such an unsympathetic place to go. The last owners were awesome, but now, would never come here again. I ended up calling the staff here and the gentleman on the phone was very careful and caring in tending to our needs and explained pricing, procedures and everything perfectly. We have now used Houston Pet Cremation Services for two of our pets, and both times have been wonderful experiences at such difficult moments. Joann is such an incredible spirit, and a great comfort. Last year, we found the business online after our rabbit passed away at home, and barely knew anyone since we had just moved to Houston. We had such a great experience that when our cat had to be put down, I knew I wanted to take her myself to be cremated at the same place, because everyone had been so empathetic and respectful regarding our minilop. Though it's perhaps secondary to the fantastic level of customer service, I'll note their prices are extremely reasonable, and there is no pressure to spend even $1 more than you would like. It would have been almost an additional $150 (!) to have the emergency vet hospital handle our cat's cremation, which was more than the entire cost at Houston Pet Cremation Services for small animals. They also have a wide selection of urns and vessels. With our rabbit, I reviewed the choices and picked a carved wooden box that turned out, quite to my surprise, to be one of the least expensive options. There was never any pressure to "upgrade," and Joann was happy to ensure our cat will be in a matching box. We also unexpectedly were delayed more than a week in picking up our rabbit's ashes due to a family emergency, and everyone was lovely about it, there were no extra charges, etc. All in all, just the people you want to work with at a dark time. After the passing of my little Princess, I had know clue of what to do. I called in tears to have the sweetest angel answer the phone and let me know things would be okay. I knew I wanted a cremation for my dog but most places are expensive. Here the price was affordable, but what stood out the most was there service. They treated my dog like she was a real person and for that I will forever be thankful. We recently used them due to our guinea pig Norman passing away. Our experience at first was great I felt comfortable with nice lady telling us what they have to offer in regards to urns or other keepsakes to keep him in. (That was on Friday) Once Tuesday came around my husband went over to pick up the ashes and was shocked cuz his little bones/Skelton was with the little ashes in a bag. I was shocked/heartbroken when my husband sent me the picture. I wish they would have told me on Friday because I never wanted to see Normie like that. Did anyone get bones with your ashes because I don't know if this is normal during cremation since this was our first time ever doing this. read more

My sisters dog of 12+ years died and they came to pick him up. A woman named Claudia helped us. She was nice and gave us all the information. I was a little nervous because they take your payment information over the phone before picking him up, but they email a receipt. (All the good reviews made me feel safe about giving my card info.) Four days later I called and he was ready for pick up. (They won't call you to tell you, they assure your pet will be ready in 4 days). There was just a slight misunderstanding with what urn we wanted and we got a different one. But when I went to pick him up I spoke to Joann and she was so nice, she called Claudia and they apologized a million times. They offered to change the urn and just wanted us to be happy. My sister decided to keep the little box they gave him in because it had his name very nicely engraved at the top and she said she liked it. Claudia text me to apologize once again and wanted to make sure we were happy so that was nice of her. Joann was such a sweetheart. Very compassionate and caring. She makes little gifts for you as a memory of your pet. They were genuinely interested in giving us the best service they could and therefore I believe they deserve the 5 stars despite the misunderstanding. We also got his paw imprinted separately. My sister cried when she saw everything. Thank you again. I hope we don't have to come here any time soon but if we ever need this service for another pet we will return. read more

We had to put down our beloved and weren't sure what and how we were going to handle the aftermath. Were we going to bury her, cremate her or just let the vet clinic handle it? Well, the night before we looked up a couple of places and the next morning we made the phone calls. The only place willing and able to take her in that same day was HPCS. I work weekends(we put her to sleep early Saturday) so one thing I appreciated was being able to take her there and have her placed in the fridge/freezer til the day of cremation. It was a ways out for me to get to and was in the secluded/industrial part of town. When you're almost there it seems a little too rural. I really didn't mind it. They were compassionate and professional. I felt comfortable and trusted them with her. I paid about about 230-250. She was about 40-50 lbs. She didn't fit in the compartment that faced the private room, so she was put in number 3 which was around the corner. I didn't mind that I had to leave the room to take a peek every now and then. I opted for the private room viewing, the paw print, and preferred the tin vs the ceramic urn. I didn't want to wait to receive the ashes in the ceramic personalized urn. Overall, I highly recommend this place. Like I stated before, they were sympathetic, professional and understood my wants and needs. They didn't try to oversell me items but they were avail. if I wanted something more personalized. It may take all day depending on the size of your pet. I brought food and a couple of water bottles with me just incase. So glad I did. read more

If you are in the heartbreaking position to need a pet cremation service, you couldn't choose better than Houston Pet Cremations. Our beloved beagle died while we were away and my husband could only think to bury him. We returned a week later to the shock. I had several days of disbelief and utter grief until I realized I needed to have Baxter safe with us in our home. I began to call pet cremation services and as you can imagine, mine was not a simple request. I met with many "we'll get back to you" and "yeah, buried for 10 days is a huge problem" and "I'll have to ask someone who knows and I'll leave you a message". Each time I had to tell the story brought new waves of grief and despair....that is until I spoke with the wonderful staff of Houston Pet Cremations. They arranged to have our beloved Baxter cremated the following day and I felt a tremendous sense of relief immediately. We returned home with Baxter that same day in a very simple tin with a touching poem about pets and their humans and a certificate of his cremation. I realized at once that we could never have gone through this without the support of these caring people. We also realized that we would never have felt anything close to comfort until we had our pup home, now, and wherever home may be years from now. I only wish I could give Houston Pet Cremations the stars they deserve ....100 +. P.S. Don't be put off by the location.
