The kids really enjoyed this place. They wanted to be scared and they were. Two of their three walk through houses are fairly scary for the younger group. The third was built for kids. It isn't scary at all, but rather they make use of 3D glasses to create some cool effects. The staff was nice and helpful. We had a fairly considerable wait. That's good for them. They're obviously attracting people and generating revenue. There were some considerably rude adults here. We didn't complain to the staff, but they should've been booted. read more

We came from Louisville, KY on our way to Gainesville. Upon Googling "best haunted house in Georgia", we were recommended to Folklore Haunted House and man... we are glad we came! $27 for three haunts and worth every penny. The detail that went into decorating each area, the craftsmanship in creating a unique environment for each character, and a group of actors who really give their all... this was a great decision! The owner, upon learning we had come down from Waverly Hills where we work, even came by to say hey. A great crew makes a good haunt unforgettable, and Folklore was certainly that! read more

The lines are not so bad and they do a great job of entertainment and keeping you moving. Only down side, the haunted house lasted about ten mins max to walk through. I was hoping for a little more! I have never actually visited Folklore Haunted House however I had a wonderful experience with their team. I bought RIP tickets for my Sister and I to go on Halloween on a Monday night; the following morning we were informed that our Grandfather had passed away in his sleep. My Sister and I were no longer going to be in the State of Georgia during our reserved ticket time and we were pretty bummed we were now missing out on nearly $100 and a fright! I messaged Folklore later in the day on Tuesday and explained our situation. I am very grateful that the team at Folklore refunded our tickets. Not only does this help us with travel expenses but it open up 2 spaces on Halloween night to attend! I look forward to trying again next year! read more

September 29th, 2017 Atlanta area Haunted House Excursion My husband & I normally go to Netherworld every October, but we decided to hit as many haunted houses in the Atlanta area as we could in a night. So Friday, September 29th at 2 pm we left Birmingham headed to the Atlanta area. In this order, we went to Netherworld, Paranoia, Folklore, Nightmare's Gate, and Haunted Chicken House. I am going to give a brief review of each of the haunts that we visited so that anyone else that may be interested in checking them out will have an idea if they are worth visiting. I am also including the haunted houses we visited in central Alabama to give a list of how each haunt ranked in comparison to all the others we visited this season. Here is our favorite haunted houses in order: 1) Netherworld 2) Nightmare's Gate 3) Atrox 4) Paranoia 5) Hellbilly Hollow 6) Nightmare 3008 7) Warehouse 31 8) Hollis Haunted Chicken House 9) Insanitarium 10) Sloss Furnace 11) Mountain Creek Trail of Fear 12) Folklore (only BAD haunt we went to) 12) Folklore- "Biggest Disappointment" (3 out of 10) Total time on site- 27 minutes This is the first time we have gone to Folklore and it will be the last. Let me start by saying we had high expectations for this haunt after my husband talked on the phone to whom he suspects was the owner. He bragged that his haunt was the 2nd largest in Georgia behind Netherworld and that if you put containment (another haunt in Douglasville) and Nightmare's Gate together that it would be about the size of his haunt. He also said that he had a bunch of animatronics and about 40 actors. His haunt may be the 2nd largest in Georgia, but size doesn't matter in this case. There were a lot of animatronics and I'm guessing about 40 actors would be accurate as well. Upon arrival, we saw a lot of people standing in the parking lot, most of which were either workers or security. I only noticed one monster walking around the parking lot and he didn't seem too interested in scaring people. We were also going to do "The Last Ride" coffin simulator after the haunts, but after being so disappointed in the haunts we chose to save the money and skip it. We left disappointed in the experience. If Folklore is really just a little smaller than Netherworld then they need 100+ actors in the haunt to make it be comparable to the other haunts. I understand it takes guests paying money to be able to hire more actors, but it would be more logical to just have 1 or 2 haunts with a lot of actors rather than 3 haunts with only a few actors...or at least set it up so that the same actors can move through the haunt & scare you multiple times without it being overly obvious to the guest that it's the same actors. It could have been good with more actors, but I can't judge it based on how it could have been better, I can only judge it based on how it was. The first haunt we entered was The Manor (I think). We were greeted by a worker dressed as a normal person who gave us a set of rules prior to entering. After entering we were able to enjoy the scenery/props/animatronics. We were able to enjoy them because of the lack of actors. There were several rooms that we walked through that there were no actors at all. It took us a total of 5 minutes to walk through the first haunt and I can't recall screaming at all....maybe once or twice at most. The second haunt was Tremulous (I think). Again we were greeted by a worker dressed as a normal person who gave us the same set of rules prior to entering. Again we found ourselves enjoying the setup in each room, but because of the lack of actors, it was hard to really get into the mindset of being scared. About ¾ through the haunt, it merged with the first haunt and then exited out of the same doorway...btw which had 3 or 4 workers just sitting there hanging out. It took us 7 minutes to walk through this haunt. The third haunt was Chromophobia (3D haunt). Unfortunately, after Netherworld, it seemed like a funhouse walk through that you would find at the fair or in Gatlinburg. I understand that according to their website that this is an all age haunt so I'm guessing that is why there weren't but a couple of actors in there. We found ourselves talking about how pink and yellow pops out more than the other colors. It took us 3-4 minutes to walk through this "attraction". P.S. According to a recent reviewer Folklore let them go through the first haunt & then delayed them going through the 2nd haunt until the monsters moved to the next haunt so that the customers were getting more scares & so the haunt doesn't seem as understaffed. In my opinion that is listening to complaints & trying to give your customers a better experience. read more

It's my favorite time of year (Halloween!). I got invited out to Folklore last night, and although it wasn't the worst haunted house I've ever been to, it wasn't the best. It takes about an hour to get here from Atlanta, and honestly isn't worth the hour drive. The rooms were all very cool to look at and the ideas were all there, but the overall feel of this place was a little amateurish. You could really tell that the management was excited to have us out there, and there were a few creepy actors in the waiting area. The first line was inside of a building, and let me tell you, it was the hottest I've been all year. The little covering does not allow for breezes and thankfully we only have 5-6 groups in front of us. I recommend getting fans through this line. I get really scared when I go to haunted houses because I don't like the feeling of having things behind me or screaming at me. For this aspect, Folklore definitely delivered. The first house had a ton of jump scares, and some pretty interesting rooms, but my group found that there was a lot of room for improvement. The second house was shorter and changed themes in the middle which was kind of funny. The third house was like a children's alice in wonderland style trip. No actors, nothing inventive, just a weird room. Overall, I was scared, but I wasn't impressed. There's definitely room for improvement! read more

First haunted house we've hit of the season. I've been to a great deal of these attractions before, but I'm always excited to try somewhere new! Folklore was underwhelming, but I suppose it still checks off all the boxes of what anyone would expect from a haunted house. It didn't do anything wrong exactly, but definitely didn't do much right. It touts 3 separate haunted houses, but it's really one building thats been divided into 2 attractions, and a smaller 3D attraction that can be walked through in 5 minutes and features no actors or scares. If you live in Acworth or the surrounding area, I'm sure it's worth a stop for some local fun. If you're planning on driving from a good distance or hitting up a bunch of haunted houses in one night, your time and money is better spent elsewhere. read more

This was a long drive for us, but we really wanted to check it out. Our monster party was myself the wife and our female spawn. The price was reasonable, on par with other haunts $25 for all three attractions . Also bought a T-shirt for $10 which was a good value in my opinion. Customer service was great. Friendly guy running the coffin ride was full of info and easing the minds of the more nervous customers. Parking lot and line creepers were on point sneaking up and scaring people but easing back for the more fearful. They were all game for taking pictures and stayed in character. The houses themselves consist of The Manor, Tremulous and Chromaphobia. First we did Chromaphobia. A neon glowing 3D haunt themed around Mardi Gras and the French quarter. This one is very family friendly as its more of a walk and look with no real scares. The glasses make the colors pop and its a nice change from the usual jump scares. Second was The Manor, groups of three and four are set through the house at their own pace. theming is mostly an old house with a greenhouse, kitchen etc. we made it into the third or fourth room before the spawn decided to bail out. There are some good scares and over all we had a good experience. This haunt does use artificial scents to simulate dirt and rot so if you have a sensitive nose keep that in mind. There are some spots where you have multiple paths through a room giving you a choice to make which was cool. Lastly was Tremulous. The party size gets reduced to two or three. It was fun watch people in line get split up into smaller groups and fight over who's going to be the human shield in front. After bailing on The Manor the spawn decided to hang out in the front and interact with the line creepers. The hospital section was well acted and had some cool props to check out. Some large creatures in here and my favorite thing in probably any attraction I've seen recently was insanely simple and completely unnerving. It's close to the end and involves a strobe light effect... I can still feel them watching me..,..I don't want to spoil it but you'll know it when you see it. After we exited we walked over to The coffin ride where the spawn was waiting in line. After the $5 ticket price she climbed in and was jostled around while we watched her on a monitor via the camera inside the casket. Something we liked in particular was the way they break up the groups and space them out. We never ran into another crowd nor did we have anyone pushing us from behind. We got to enjoy it at our own pace and have our experience uninterrupted. We had a good time and may try to make it back up to see the Christmas show or at the very least next haunt season. I was excited to take part in this haunted house! This was my first time attending. It did seem exciting until we took our phone out for two seconds within the exhibit and immediately responded to them telling us to put it away. They then proceeded to follow us through the house shouting at us about the phone completely ruining the experience. And on top of that we were standing in line showing videos from past Halloween experiences (tis the season) an employee approached us and demanded us to show her our phone when it had nothing to do with this establishment. The three haunted houses have their own unique frighting experiences such as 3D glasses, dragons, and monsters you've never seen before. Folklore was a wonderful haunted attraction. We enjoyed the haunted houses. It was raining, but we were still able to go through everything because the haunts are inside...the line is not depending on how long it is. The blacklight maze was fun, but not scary. The other two are much more scary and very well done. The actors were great. Overall a lot of fun. read more

Let me start by saying that this was the first haunted house my eight year old daughter has ever been to. We weren't sure which of the 3 different haunted houses we should go in because we didn't know how scary each one would be. One of the guys that works out front, running the coffin attraction (we forgot his name), is the reason we decided to go into the traditional Victorian haunted house. He spoke to my daughter and let her know what to expect and that helped ease her nerves. Our family had a blast and my little girl couldn't stop talking about it. Great customer service and good scare for the price. If you don't want to drive 60 miles to go to the big name attraction in Gwinnett county, this place is great. The traditional Victorian haunted house has enough scare for adults while not having too many scares for the kids. read more

This is a great attraction! The price is reasonable and the actors are great! The experience is the best with the combo package. My wife and I took our two teens on a Saturday night for the first time. They had a blast and definitely got the you know what scared out of them. It's over priced for what you get. It wasn't scary at all, which i don't mind. Seemed understaffed as quite a few rooms were empty as you walked through them. The chromophobia was cool, but did not see the point at all. The parking was great, but I have to score it low due to all the mud and the uneven pavement. It was too dark to force people to stand on chipped asphalt that rolled and was simply uneven. I felt like I was going to fall over. There was also no canopy to protect customers from rain, which is strange since it often rains in the fall. The mud was also quite ridiculous in certain spots. Not sure how much gravel costs, but there is more than likely a cost effective solution out there. read more

Came here last night on a double date and I was so excited because most of the reviews mention that it's pretty scary... first off, when you get there, there's hardly any sighs or any type of guide as to where to go. My group went to the big long line we saw assuming that was THE line... we waited in that for about 30 mins before figuring out that there were two seperate lines for the different haunts. The Asylum is the one we had tickets for... it was probably the least scary haunted house I've ever been to. It literally took less than 5 minutes to walk through the whole thing and there were no scary parts to make you pause and hesitate like actual scary haunted houses. I just felt like I was easily walking from room to room (most of them being empty) and before I knew it, it was the end. I was very confused by that. I think I saw a total of 5 actors throughout it. Definitely would not recommend. Paranoia is definitely better and will actually entertain you. read more

After a few weeks at Halloween Horror Nights we had to check out Folklore and it did not disappoint! Top Notch actors are what really made this place pop!!! Not to take anything away from the props and stunning sets, they were great. Pulsing us into the house was like a dream for my girlfriend and I who got to experience all the houses by ourselves, which ups the scare factor about 10 fold. Usually I'm super hard to get, but again and again they got me and I loved it. the first one we went into, asylum was good. we never got to experience manor because they rushed us through it and the scarers weren't able to reset. so we were just walking into empty rooms and caught up with the people that went in front of us. I'm upset because I spent $50 and didn't have the experience I was expecting because it felt as if we were being rushed in there so everyone could go home. Kind of disappointed. read more
