How do you review a school on Yelp? When choosing colleges, does a youth say to themselves "You…read moreknow... I'm just gonna check out the reviews for this University on Yelp." ? UVU has terrible parking, a decent library, lots of students, average (and a few above average) professors, weird student events, lame "dances", and extensive resources to help students with any type of problem, academic or personal or professional. If you're really using Yelp to check out schools, I hope it works out for you??? It's super weird though. Sorry for judging you.

The response from the administration, such as city police and campus security, felt overly excessive and dismissive of student concerns. They used excessive force on me and took my property away without a warrant. I exercised my rights. President Astrid Tuminez appears disconnected from the student body and has demonstrated some genuine care, but not really that much. The university should take accountability for how it treats students and ensure that everyone's constitutional rights are respected on campus. Don't waste your money by going here. I feel ashamed for every recommending this school to anyone. It's a scam because it's not a fun experience to go here, unless you want a police and corrupt politician nanny school and want to waste your time and money. There's many other low cost options out there. Please, learn from my mistake!!!!! Especially if you're a straight person and not LGBTQ. They will discriminate against your size and gender and call security on you and discrimante against your race.

It seems that there are a lot of older reviews on here, so I wanted to take the time to write about…read moremy experience at Provo College as a recent graduate of the BSN program in the August 2023 semester. To start, the Dean, Angela Lindley, and Assistant Dean, Doran Sorenson, are great educators and people overall. They really "whipped this program into shape" to be completely blunt. They truly care about the success of the students and were always available whenever I needed study advice. They both have impressive backgrounds in the nursing field & did a great job of incorporating real-life situations into our lessons. I went through a lot of health issues during the program and they both were very supportive and helped me to not fall behind in the program. The program is tough, and they have high expectations, but they know that real-life problems occur, and they are there to work with you and support you when you need them. Lastly, the final semester Professor, Nikkie King, is absolutely incredible. She is very familiar with ATI and knows how to prep you for the NCLEX. My confidence in my nursing skills & knowledge soared significantly because of her help & support. Nursing School was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but I am beyond grateful for the supportive environment at Provo College for helping me through. Some other cool things about the program: - Live Simulation labs - Virtual Reality labs -ATI live Week - "Senior Day" - Help with job placement/great career services staff

My Husband & I…read moreboth went in for cleanings with them knowing we were moving & this would be our only visit- both the students were super nice people- but our 'cleanings' we PAID for were anything but. I understand they need to practice to learn & everything- which I would be fine with if the expectation was set that we would actually have ZERO cleaning & if it were free- but we paid to be tortured for several hours & I received ZERO actual cleaning & he only got a small amount done on only one row of teeth & his was super painful with the machine & mine was because the only thing I got was her digging at my gums with a sharp tool the ENTIRE TIME- that's it!!! I was so shocked after that I didn't even have the capacity to discuss it at the time & that was such a huge waste of $ for seriously being tortured & getting no actual cleaning. 3 weeks later my gums still hurt. We will obviously never go back & I'm so beyond disappointed- just spend the $ on a cleaning at an actual dentist. They knew full well before hand we were moving & not able to go back for a second appointment (not that we even would after that!) so we needed to get done some sort of actual benefit that we paid for in that visit & I cannot believe how much we paid for only a painful & terrible experience. It's one thing to have students have to practice for free- but quite another to get nothing you PAY for & only pain & disappointment. My Husband had gone once before & must have gotten a student almost ready to graduate because it went fine then- but when I went with him it was simply appalling. Never again. I was seriously in shock & pain afterwards & with the pain & infection in my gums still this long after- cannot believe it.

The school is very well laid out, very clean and again as a medical professional I noticed the sterile technique was excellent! My student was very good, my experience was excellent. The only reason I give 4 stars and not 5 is because I believe the school has an obligation to insure the students have patients to meet their objectives! I gathered from the waiting room that students had to find their own patients which is wrong, this school charges students a good chunk of change. Medical and Nursing students do not have to find their own patients and neither should a dental hygiene student. The school should be advertising and working with dental offices for student experiences vs students struggle to get patients. Any medical program is grueling as it is without the un-necessary stress of finding patients with various degrees of dental situations. The responsibility lies with school not the student. Hopefully they get that figured out as it doesn't reflect well for them.

Walking across campus, with the mountains towering in the background and the smell of freshly cut grass or melting snow depending on the season, it's like you're in a living postcard. The professors here actually care. You're not just a name on a roster--you're someone they expect great things from. And say what you will about the Honor Code, but there's a kind of clarity and focus that comes from being surrounded by people who are trying to live their values. Also, shout-out to the Harold B. Lee library. That thing is a fortress of productivity. I've never been more academically dialed-in than I was on the 5th floor during finals week with a Cookies N Cream chocolate milk from the Creamery in one hand and a stack of flashcards in the other. And then there's the people. You come for the degree, but stay for the lifelong friends, hallway chats, devotional takeaways, and yes--those divine CougarTails on game day. BYU shaped me. Spiritually, intellectually, even socially. Couldn't recommend it more.

Atmosphere is school-like while offering all types of services from hair, nails, and more. The only complaint I have is the shampoo wasn't completely washed out of my hair. The price is amazing and the instructors are good. The requirements of the program are entirely out of control. When I went to school, we showed up, had class, and took clients. We had to do a certain number of hours and a certain amount of each service to complete the program. At MTECH, my daughter has SO MUCH HOMEWORK. She spends an absurd amount of time studying, doing online work, and taking tests. She was expected to complete perfect, flawless, TIMED haircuts and PERMS in her first months of school. On what planet should an inexperienced student be timed ?!!! She is attending night school her senior year of high school. It feels like she's in medical school with the amount of work she is doing. She's not even getting hours for all of the studying and homework she does outside of school! She writes essay after essay and I'm just in shock because all I had to do was hair on clients during school hours. In the course she is currently in, every single student is on a student success plan which means no one was able to complete the course. But it doesn't ever occur to the school that there's a problem with the course! There have been tests she has failed multiple times because she has to know the names of all the bones in the ankle and other ridiculous facts????? ‍‍‍ I am just baffled. So much for cosmetology school being for dumb blondes. I'm pleased that they have made it structured and are trying to thoroughly educate the students, but it is outrageously over the top. My daughter is extremely organized and hard working. She is just barely surviving this. About half of her orientation class either dropped out or have been dismissed, that's how tough it is. I listen to her rant about the next unreasonable demand placed on her by the school every single week. It is draining. Whoever organized this program needs some Prozac or something.
