I sent them the following formal letter of complaint and the only response that I received was that…read morethe case was closed at their office. My fiance has now been deported because of this incompetent people. 2/11/2025 Latorre Law Firm 2629 Central Ave Charlotte, NC 28205 Dear Stefan Robert LaTorre: This letter constitutes a formal complaint regarding the handling of [Redacted]'s immigration case and a demand for immediate action and information. I engaged the Latorre Law Firm to represent [Redacted] in his immigration proceedings on March 13, 2023. At that time, Mr. Carlos Rodriguez was assigned to the case. Since then, we have encountered multiple significant problems, including: Failure to Notify of Attorney Departure: We were never formally notified that Mr. Rodriguez had left Latorre Law Firm. We have never been advised that another lawyer had assumed responsibility for the case. This is a serious breach of the firm's obligations to its clients. Negligence: We recently discovered that a Master Hearing was held in September 2023, but we were not notified of the hearing or of the documentation requested no later than 60 days from September 18, 2023. This is a serious mistake and a clear violation of Mr. Villagomez's right to be heard. He is expected to be transferred to ICE detainment soon. The exact date remains unclear, but no later than February 19, 2025. We would not be in this situation had Latorre law firm properly discharged its professional obligations to us. Lack of Communication: We have made numerous attempts to contact your firm over the past several weeks/months since January 2, 2025. We called repeatedly, left messages, and sent emails on February 7, 2025, and February 10, 2025. We have consistently been told that the assigned attorney is unavailable, in a meeting, or on another call. We have received no substantive responses or updates on Mr. [Redacted]'s case. We were able to get a single consultation with, I believe, Shannon Enriquez De Leon, the secretary handling his case. She advised that Mr. [Redacted]'s only option was a "credible fear interview," but that's the opinion of a legal assistant, and we need to hear from a lawyer what options are now available given the challenging position we are in due to your firm's errors and omissions. Irregular Mail and Blocked Communication: This has made it physically impossible for Mr. [Redacted] to learn about, let alone appear for, court hearings. We demand the following: Immediate Contact: We need a phone call from you or the attorney currently assigned to Mr. [Redacted]'s case to discuss the current status and the options available to him under the current state of affairs. Full Case File: We request a complete copy of Mr. [Redacted]'s case file, including all correspondence, filings, and notes, to be delivered to us within 3-5 business days, sent to [Redacted]@gmail.com with a copy to me at [Redacted]@gmail.com. Detailed Explanation: We demand a written explanation of how the events described above were allowed to occur and a detailed description of the current status of Mr. [Redacted]'s case and the options to avoid deportation. Confirmation of Representation: We need the name and contact information of the attorney currently responsible for his case. To date, I have paid the Latorre Law Firm $1030, and I never expected to receive treatment like this. Failure to comply with our requests within the stated timelines will leave us with no option but to consider further action, including filing a formal complaint with the North Carolina Bar Association and seeking counsel to commence a legal malpractice action. That is not our preference; our preference is to have Latorre Law Firm take all possible actions to avoid Mr. [Redacted]'s deportation. We expect a prompt and substantive response to this letter. Sincerely, Steven Wasielewski
