I have been seeing Ivan for the last few months to deal with shoulder/back/arm pain that is a result of 15 years of bad posture and carrying bags on one shoulder. It has taken a lot of time and patience (and doing the exercises you are given - very important), but the results are truly amazing! Ivan helped me set realistic goals (ie; you cannot put a timeline on anything) and I am looking forward to the next phase of treatment that will incorporate an RMT. I started seeing Jamie for an issue with my back that had mellowed out years ago but was aggravated at work a few months ago. The studio is clean and calm and the staff at the reception desk took care to address me by name and were always respectful and attentive. They took my Blue Cross info and do direct billing. I was seeing Jamie once a week for around 2.5 months and she is awesome! We tried acupuncture twice but I became uncomfortable with it so she respected my decision to not try it again until I brought up again a few weeks later that I was willing to try it another time. Every time we did acupuncture she would come in and check on me every 5 minutes or so to make sure that I was doing okay. She always made me comfortable when it was time to lie down with the heating pads by giving me a big pillow, a leg rest and she even ordered new magazines for me to read when she noticed I had read through them all! read more

He was able to build my strength back and my recovery was much quicker then what my doctors had predicted. Was initially excited to have an RMT clinic so close to home. Went for a massage and had Marina, RMT. Terrible service unless you're satisfied with a mere back rub and sweeping of your skin. She also behaves as if she's doing you a huge favour rather than providing a service you're paying her to do. Better off saving your time and money and book with another RMT. I have followed Ivan since he worked at total therapy and he's always been extremely knowledgeable and professional. I had surgery on my left rotator cuff and after 6 months of rehab from ivan, my shoulder was fully healed and never had an issue since. I began coming to Focus Physio and saw Aaron after being diagnosed with whiplash related to a car accident. Focus Physio is a super nice, clean and modern practice located next to Olympic Village. Booking was easy to do online and their hours / availability was great (7-7 M-F) since I work daytime hours. I found Aaron to be super knowledgeable and skilled and while I realize accidents take time to heal from, I feel I'm in good hands. Unrelated to ICBC, they also offer direct billing to my extended healthcare provider which is super convenient! read more

I went here about 5x last year, because it's in the same neighborhood I work in. On at least two occasions I had Corey Pettet and they were horrible experiences. The first time I had him, Corey questioned why I was there and assumed that I had no tension or pain and that I just wanted to use up my benefits. Corey mentioned this numerous times and pretty much said it was a waste of his time. I felt very unwanted and I did not know why he would say that to me - especially when he is getting paid either way. He seemed to be uninterested and not engaged during the whole massage. The other time I had Corey I could sense that he was in his own world. I could see him stretching his own body (the shadow on the floor); I heard him yawning; and I felt him picking at his nail/hang-nail. He also placed his finger in 1 spot for over 5mins without any pressure at all. This happened 3x during the same visit. I decided to try someone else the next time. I had a massage therapist named Marina Lagace. She too seemed to judge my body right off the bat. As I told her where I feel pain and soreness, she claimed she did not feel anything. However when the massage was complete, she apologized for jumping to conclusion. She could feel me tense up in certain places and told me that I wasn't able to fully relax my body. She then recommend that I come more often. For my other two visits, I had another man. He was great and very attentive! I even recommend this place to my sister when I first had thr other guy (he was the first massage therapist I had there). My sister also used a few therapist and had horrible experiences with Corey. She now only requests that one person. I now go somewhere else where the therapist are not quick to judge. They welcome me back to get massages all the time. My massage therapist recommends I come back monthly to prevent future aches and pains - especially when I work 2 jobs! I do not, and will not recommend this place to others as my coworkers have had bad service as well. We do not want to waste our benefits on a place that does not have great customer service. read more

I have been attending Focus Physio and Wellness since it opened. It was a welcome addition to the community that is developing in the Olympic Village and the convenience factor for me living in the Village is wonderful. I have only used the services of the RMT's at Focus and attend on average about three times a month, though ideally I would like to attend every week it doesn't work out with my personal schedule and the occasional absence of my RMT of choice. That said, should a need for Physio come up I wouldn't hesitate to use them for that service. My primary RMT is Marina Lagacé who is nothing short of excellent. She is both an excellent therapist but also extends her practice practically into my life away, giving me stretches to do in order to promote balance and even helping me to stretch out after our sessions. She's even shared information and worked in conjunction with the goals of my personal trainer. Overall she is simply excellent. If your looking for a holistic practitioner I cannot suggest her highly enough. If your maybe not into the "holistic vibe" (cause it's not my primary focus) that's fine too, she works very well on the practical front as well. Her bed side manner is impeccable and comforting and she is very responsive. She is now my fifth long term RMT and by far the best long term RMT I have had. I also use Brian Redillas on occasion and find him to be very very good as well. My preference to Marina is purely that I prefer a female therapist; however, I have found Brian to be excellent the number of times I have used him. If you are looking for a therapist who can provide extreme power and deep tissue Brian is your guy. Keep in mind I attend several times a week and I am aware of how deep tissue is supposed to feel... This guy is good. He is also very responsive and was very adaptable when I had sore areas that required less pressure. While I don't see him on a regular basis he is super easy to get along with and has a great bed side manner. The girls who work the front desk are a sharp team, very kind and super hard workers. They are great for getting you in when you need something last minute and equally good when you have to cancel an appointment. They all seem very sharp, more like owners than people who answer phones, which is a great face of the company (maybe they are the owners?). So many customer service jobs like this these days are filled by lazy people, not at Focus. It's refreshing to see the opposite at Focus and is a testaments to how good this place is. If you have extended health they can likely direct bill which is very convent. My only complaint about the place is that there is no online appointment making, listing or cancelation. You do get an email from them as a reminder two days before but honestly it's 2015 (almost 2016) and I think you should be able to do all this online. Previous long term places I have been at have used online systems and it's great. To close out, I'm very very happy with Focus Physio and Wellness. I like the smaller setting, I had been to a larger place that shared a waiting room between themselves for Physo/Massage and a drop in medical clinic and naturopath and it was chaos with kids running everywhere, people hacking up a lung and constant phones ringing for the different services. Not at all relaxing before or after your massage. None of that at Focus, great waiting room and lots of parking around during the day too. Ivan at Focus Physio is my go-to healthcare practitioner for all my sports-related aches and pains. He has helped me recover from two injuries, one on the field and another in the weight room.
