horrible place, they had my contacts for over 2 weeks and I never got a call that they had arrived. when I called, the lady I talked on the phone with seemed like she was in a rush and didn't care and acted like she didn't know they had been there the whole time. very unprofessional because that is their job to call and let people know when they are arrived! Also the Dr didn't care about anything but to ask where I worked and I'm gonna assume and say that it was to see if I was able to pay for the contacts. never coming back here. read more

I was impressed with the assistance I received during my first visit to Focus Eye Center in St George. I am specifically shopping for a pair of Oakley sunglasses to use when I play Pickleball. I found a pair at a great price but what really impressed me was the great customer service I received from both Optician Alivia and assistant Joanna. When getting our glasses adjusted, Tia broke my husband's. We were told since they were out of warranty we would have to pay for new frames. We paid a lot of money for these glasses and to be told we have to pay for something she broke is absolutely ridiculous. Very poor customer service. read more

Wow I was disappointed in every way at this place. Dr Nelson comes across as an arrogant, unfriendly eye dr. The secretary was short and unfriendly with me. They said on the phone they accept my insurance but leave out the DETAILS about the hidden fee they include AFTER your exam is done. Extra $70 they decide to rob you of. Then I go to pick up contacts and I wait in the lobby for 15 minutes with no one even greeting OR helping me. The only nice person was the assistant that walks you back to the exam room. We just moved from California and this was the first eye doctor we saw here in St. George. My husband passed away tragically a few months ago and so I could not afford a pair of glasses my 12 year old daughter wanted. She is going through so much with the loss of her father. Wonderful people work here! I found this out when I was in St. George to compete in the Huntsman Senior Games. Before my sport's competition, I was watching the men play volleyball and was smashed in the face by a spiked ball as they were warming up. My glasses were knocked crooked, the nose piece was seriously bent, etc. - it seemed like a worst case scenario. I used the Maps app on my iPhone - found that Focus was the closest to me - and they still were open (this happened at 4:55 on a Friday afternoon). I called, the very pleasant receptionist said they would try to fix them and told me they would be closing at 5:30 pm. We got there and were met by a smiling gentleman who took the crooked glasses and returned them - straightened and all shined up - about 10 minutes later. I would have willingly paid whatever they asked for - but they performed this service for free. I think this says loads about their character! read more

Some many issues - will attempt to consolidate missteps by Focus! 1 - Was suppose to get a follow up call to tell me what my deductible was! NEVER HAPPENED 2- Receptionist NEVER asked for my ID or insurance info ever 3- Tech/salesperson/ would not help us with the Social Security paid glasses... He said they didn't have them! Kept pushing for most expensive - 4- after he found out he would get paid by Social Security he dropped us like a hot potato - Customer Service disappeared DO NOT GO HERE .... The exam goes great, very professional and thorough. However... although our purchasing experience was NOT great the first time... we decided to give them a second chance. Well once may be a mistake, or trying to work out the logistics, but the second time, seems like it may be intentional attempts to defraud the customer with insurance by coercing them into using their allowance to purchase more than what is necessary. Then making my naive daughter - who wanted to be independent- believe that she had to pay for her exam when all she was responsible to pay for was her $10 copay- which is why we have vision insurance. The sales representatives at Focus Eye Center have lied to us about our what our insurance covers so they can get more money out of us. If they would just be honest in the beginning, they would win my business- It is very frustrating when I have to leave work to go help my daughter because she is being taken advantage of by someone in the healthcare profession who should be honest! read more

I had a horrible experience with Dr Nelson. He gave me completely different prescriptions for my contacts and glasses and has caused further damage to my eyes. He did not care about me as a person and was quick to send me on my way. I have been wearing glasses and contacts for over 20 years and I have never had such a bad experience as I did here! While the office is beautiful and the girls up front are fairly good to work with, I highly recommend avoiding focus eye center as an eye doctor to anyone in search of one. read more

I went to focus because they were in my insurance circle but soon found out that it still cost as much or more than if I went somewhere else without insurance,then it took longer than it was supposed to to get my glasses and when they got them they were wrong and it took a extra two weeks to get them right, then when I had a accident and broke one of the arms off they said that they were discontinued and I would have to buy new ones or I could try to weld them my self, needless to say I will never be using them again. read more

I really have few complaints about this place as far as exam for eye health goes, but I do feel compelled to state that I did NOT get what I asked for when I made my appointment. My boss, a prominent doctor in the region, recommended Focus and Dr, Trevor Hammons. When I made my appointment, I specifically asked for Dr. Hammons. When I arrived for my appointment, and they gave me my info to review for accuracy, I pointed out that it said Dr. Lofgren when I specifically asked for Dr. Hammons. They acknowledged my comment and said Dr, Hammons was the doctor that day. Working in the medical field, I understand that different doctors hold clinic on different days. This issue MAY HAVE been a matter of whose name is printed on intake paperwork regardless of who is actually working. I get it. That said, while I have no complaints whatsoever about my service, when I actually met with the OD it was NOT Dr. Hammons. It was Dr. Wood. I could have--should have--just stood up and walked away. As any patient can, and should, do. If you are handed off to a professional you did not agree to see, you are within your rights (until any change of government) to say "no.". Again, I have absolutely NO complaints about Dr. Wood--he was awesome in every respect. He gave me all the time and attention I could have ever asked for. He was very thorough, patient, accessible, and didn't even try to sell me glasses of any sort. The point being--no offense to him--he was not who I made my appointment for, and not who I corrected the intake for. If you call and ask for a specific OD, and remind them on intake about the OD, you should get *THAT* OD! Am I right? And if, for some emergent reason you are NOT going to see that OD, they should say so. and then offer an OPTION for the person who is PAYING for the SERVICE to make a decision for themselves, rather than be held hostage until the bitter end, as it were. That's all I'm saying. And that's why Focus is getting dinged on stars for their blurry vision of service. Yes, I had a very good experience. No, I did not have the experience I expressly and very specifically asked for. In addition, their frame selection is pathetic. I'm glad I did not need glasses and Dr. Wood did not emphasize the need for them. Go elsewhere after your appointment. read more

Received a text informing me if an upcoming appointment. I call the number on the text and it goes straight to a voice mail. There is no introduction of the company's name. I was hesitant on leaving a message to cancel appointment and possibly reschedule, because I'd rather speak to a real person. I'm not too pleased with their service they provide. They made both of my glasses incorrectly and had to wait an extra 4 weeks after waiting 6 weeks. Then when I call to reschedule after the text, I get a voice message without them stating the company name. I guess they aren't proud of who they are. I've never been so pleased after leaving a doctors office. Friendliest staff, coolest decor, and they have a massage chair in a low lit room while you are waiting for the optometrist. Can you believe it?! Also, I ordered new lenses once, but they accidentally ordered a size slightly too small so they just gave me a brand new pair of Kate Spade frames for free. When I went to Focus Eye Center the Dr was great. What's really bad is when you buy your glasses here. It took 3 times to get my glasses correct. I have digital bifocals. They never measured my eyes, they just used the median measurements. When I got them the bifocal was crossing my long distance area. Couldn't see. Then I got them again and walked outside and the sun blinded me. I had bought Transition lenses but these weren't! I bought silhouette glasses. They are very expensive. I have bought silhouette glasses several times, they always have a 2 Year warranty. My arm on my glasses broke a couple days ago, I called to have them fixed. Come to find out this place only has a 1 year warranty! I couldn't believe it! So I quit this place and found a new one that funnily has a two year warranty! Grrr. read more

I will NEVER go back to this Focus Eye Business. The eye exam was the worst I have had in my life. I have had eye problems for over 55 years. Prices for frames start at $300.00, or that is what I was told by the young man at the desk. With 2 Insurance plans I had to pay a Copay of $45.00. I went to Walgreens the next day for my eye RX and no one had sent that RX to the pharmacy at Walgreens. So needless to say I am not pleased from beginning to end. I am very picky when it come to eye doctors! I have not had the greatest luck with them in past years. However while I lived in Utah, I went to Focus Eye center and fell in love with this place. When my current glasses broke they saw me immediately after I called to set an appointment. The environment is so friendly there. They staff is even more friendly!! I They are answered every question I had, explained each and everything, and walked you through every step. My only complaint is that they do not have more stores nationwide. Turns out I also have a eye disease that causes sever dry eyes, and a burning sensation. Turns out I have had it for a few years now, they noticed developing stages of it and taught me how to help it. It delayed it for a couple of years. And another eye doctor has diagnosed me as having this condition, because they caught the early signs, it is no where near as bad as it could have been. Thankfully it as at the first stage, but very mild. But have to do treatments daily. read more

I arrived 5 minutes early. The receptionist handed me two forms to review and sign; once done with those I waited only a minute. They took me back to gauge my eye's abilities, and talked me through each item of the process. After finishing the exam I got to browse their wide selection of glasses. While browsing two workers approached me and offered their input. The sales lady was very professional and quick to quote me and offer what I wanted and needed. Focus Eye Center is the place to go. Everyone is so helpful and they went above and beyond to make sure my glasses met my needs. I had a prescription from another eye center and it didn't fully work for me so they got me in for an eye exam there and re-did my glasses for me. They could have easily just sent me back but they took care of it even through it wasn't their error. I really appreciate how kind everyone was and I will continue to go to Focus from now on. read more

The office is nice. The equipment seems up-to-date. An eye exam included about an hour of waiting. They're just WAY overpriced.
