Honestly one of the worst experiences eating out I have had. Granted it is just a Pub but the least…read morethey could do is 1. Make sure the floor is clear of food. 2. Keep items in stock and if that fails at least tell people before they order so there's no nasty surprises when half their meal is missing. For some bewildering reason to me my Brother decided to book this place for a meal while my Husband and I were back in England for a short visit. They gladly took the booking for 16 of us which immediately set off alarm bells but my Brother assured me that it was fine, he comes here often and it's always been good. Being that I trust him I took his word for it (more fool me) but I just can't forgive the complete lack of management and poor service here. The only reason I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1 is because my meal wan't all that bad.. - As soon as we arrived we were told that they had ran out of both Roast Lamb and Pork. Nothing else. Fine by me, I wanted Chicken anyway. - The table we were seated at was disgusting. There were Pea's and Potatoes mashed into the floor all around the table and the table itself was sticky - I placed mine and my Husbands order for Roast Chicken (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hf3XtdYCXumXMUQq_SBFXg?select=8NH3VrTDNyU8QWf2-FMWbA) but when it arrived there was no Yorkshire Puddings. I thought maybe they had just missed it but when I asked I was told that they had ''ran out a couple of hours ago''. FOR REAL??! Probably one of the easiest things to make I really cannot understand how but I don't think that was that they ran out of ingredients (as there is a Tesco just minutes drive) but it would appear they get everything in frozen. There really is no excuse for not having Yorkshire Puddings on a Sunday. - The Peppercorn Sauce my Sister in law ordered didn't come until she was about 90% of the way through her meal because and I quote ''we have to get it from the freezer out back and defrost it''. Seriously, you can't make this shit up. - I went to order dessert for my Husband and I to share (Blueberry Sundae: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hf3XtdYCXumXMUQq_SBFXg?select=bIP4Y1B7BjWD_bsMxhbWKA) only to be told they had also ran out of Vanilla Ice Cream as well so I had the option to have it with Strawberry or Chocolate. As it turned out it was actually pretty good. A few too many Blueberries (in thick sugary syrup) but again - Tesco's down the road. GO SHOPPING IF YOU NEED TO. - Desserts my Sister ordered took ages to come. After 30 minutes we had to go and ask where they were, my poor little Niece looked really sad without her Chocolate Brownies. - Some of the staff we alright, helpful and friendly but a couple of them were pretty damn useless The one that explained to me about the Yorkshire Puddings didn't offer any kind of apology and when I said that we should have been informed about them not having them before I ordered all she replied with was ''Oh well, enjoy what you have got'' before walking off. Man, I love the service in England! [/Sarcasm] One thing's for sure and that is that on future visits ''back home'' I certainly won't be making a return visit here as almost everything appears to be frozen or just reheated and the management is really poor seeing as they ran out of a vast amount of the items on the menu. It could be we just came on a bad day and that they are actually a nice place, they just need to get their shit together. *TIP* Come here for drinks at the bar... nothing else.

It's a great place to meet with friends for a drink and has your atypical pub menu which in my opinion is pretty good. The service is as expected in a place like this :-)

This place is absolutely amazing. The location is beautiful,…read moreright on the river, especially on a beautiful summer's day watching the ships go by. The ambience in the pub itself is unique, very quirky, a great hit with my husband who is a big Star Wars fan! The food is good, sizeable pub grub, with a menu extensive enough to appease any fussy eaters or big appetites. Anything from fresh pies, steak, fish and chips, burgers you name it, they've probably got it. But the BIGGEST compliment to this place has to go towards the staff who made the entire experience brilliant they were funny, interested in where we'd come from and why we were there, made recommendations based on the menu and even changed the cheese on my husband's steak as he wasn't a fan of Stilton the waitor said he'd seen some Jalapeno cheddar in the kitchen if my husband would prefer that, and it went down a storm. What fabulous service. We didn't feel rushed, even though we left it an hour between mains and desserts and it was a packed Sunday lunchtime they let us take our time and the desserts were delicious. Only slight criticism is that, for how big the main meals were, I was extremely disappointed with the size of my dessert three mouthfuls and it was gone. Not worth 5/6 quid really. Would definitely come here again, what a hidden gem.
