Sew Savvy Alterations - Wedding dress fitting

I met Jessica on 6/10 needing two dresses hemmed up for a wedding in September…read more We had our fitting scheduled for 6/11 but it was rescheduled on her end for 6/20. We had the fitting at her home where she conducts her business. She was very friendly in person. On 9/9 I texted her asking if she had time to fit another dress in for a hem job to be completed by 9/29 as I was going on vacation and wanted to wear the new dress I bought, knowing it was only a few weeks- I asked if a last minute hem was possible, she said it was and we arranged for it to be dropped off 9/10. I picked up my initial two dresses 9/25 with no problem and confirmed the third would be ready 9/29. On 9/29 I messaged asking when I could come by to pick up the dress to which she replied she had not started it and could have it done by 9/30. I was unable to pick up 9/30 as my flight left the country then. So I told her I'd pick it up when I got back into town- disappointed I wouldn't have my dress but not the end of the world. I got back into town and texted 10/17 asking when I could get the dress. I didn't receive a reply, I messaged a week later 10/23 when I could get the dress, and if it wasn't ready I still wanted it (at this point it had been almost a month since it was initially due to be done). She replied that I could come 10/24 to get the dress, and asked "if she was able to hem it, did I want her to do so". After almost a month of having my dress she hadn't even touched it yet, despite her offering to have it done by 9/30 I told her if she hadn't started it don't worry about it- I'll come get it anyways, planning to take it elsewhere. She messaged me 10/24 telling me she did in-fact end up hemming it and I picked it up that day. While she did apologize over text for not having it done by the due date back on 9/29, she did not mention or apologize in person for it being a month late I understand the fall is considered "wedding" season but over-committing and not meeting pick-up dates despite assuring it would be fine, and not even doing the hem until the night before I told you I wanted to pick it up is super frustrating. Communication wasn't great either, often waiting awhile to hear back over texts despite it being her preferred method of communication. While my first experience was good and everything was done in time, the second experience did leave a bad feeling about going back for future alteration needs.

Saved my butt!! Needed a last minute alterations, it was done EARLY, and work was excellent!!…read moreCannot praise her enough!!!!

Been going here for years until my girlfriend had a horrible experience, so much so that I recently…read morestopped going there and decided to write this review. She had a leather jacket cleaned which took four months to get done. This is after she was told 2-3 weeks. During the wait, she would call numerous times with them saying they would get back to her but never doing so, on other calls saying they didn't know the status or where it was at. On her last call to them, the manager Chelsea openly laughed at her concerns and offered nothing for the trouble. After requesting that it shouldn't be paid for since it took four months, Chelsea said it wasn't really their problem since it's done by a third party. The manager showed no remorse and was even insulting when inquiring about the status of the item and it taking so long with little to no communication or explanation.

I just had a great experience with their dry cleaning service…read more They said they couldn't guarantee one of my hand made 18th century dresses that needed dry cleaning, and I had to sign a statement saying that I knew there was no guarantee they wouldn't ruin it or not get it clean. But it came out beautifully; it's clean and they didn't ruin it at all. They also cleaned a formal dress and a wool scarf, all of which came out beautifully. The pricing is very reasonable too; all four pieces were about $42 to clean, which is great for a large, handmade dress. I was expecting the dress alone to cost more than all four together. It was incredibly fast for a busy time of year too. I dropped my order off on Saturday and it was ready by Monday evening. The gentleman who was working when I picked up my order was friendly and he even noticed that one of my items needed to be adjusted on its hanger before I left the store. I will definitely continue to use this business for my dry cleaning, which is the only dry cleaner in my neighborhood.

I am extremely overdue in writing this review, but I need to share my story of how Jeanette saved…read moremy dress. I bought my wedding gown at an Alfred Angelo closeout sale nine months before my wedding date. Around four months later I brought the dress to a family friend whom my parents insisted I bring it to because she used to make wedding dresses. She ends up hanging on to the dress until a month before the wedding. When I get it back, I notice my dress was hemmed like a pair of pants, just folded over. The outer layer of my dress is lace and it looked like a loofa. My so-called bustle was a hole through the backside of my dress to just pull the hanger loop out from underneath. It was a mess. I showed my MOH and bridesmaids. It got to a point where they told me to just buy a new dress. I really liked my Disney dress so I made a few calls to some mobile seamstresses. They all said it was too late for my dress to be fixed. This is where Jeanette answers my call and says she could take a look and see if it can be done in 2 weeks. The next morning, I get off work from my night shift, shower, and rush on over to her place which was only 10 minutes away. I put on my dress and she starts to take apart the stitching my family friend did to the lace. It was salvageable. I saw all the dresses she had made and placed on display. I knew I was at the right place. She specialized in lace. Four days after I left my dress with Jeanette, she calls me saying my dress was finished. She really worked her magic! It was ahead of schedule and she lifted so much weight off my shoulders. I tried on the dress and it was perfect. She made a beautiful bustle with three hook points, and showed me how to find the hooks so I could show my bridesmaids. I cannot thank Jeanette enough for taking on the mess of my dress. I highly recommend her for dress alterations and custom made dresses.
