Do NOT give them any thing with holes in it that you want tailored and repaired. I had to pre-pay to repair two long sleeve flannel shirts with holes in the elbows. They charged me $80, and a week later when I picked them up I was flabbergasted at the atrocious job they did. A blind paraplegic cat hopped up on Red Bull suffering from epilepsy could do a better job. I mean, just what the heck was there goal with this repair? Alterations themselves were fine. Service was good enough. But, they keep two dogs in the shop: smelly, sheddy, little, white dogs. When I picked up my two Dry Clean Only items, they were covered in these super-fine white hairs. And, I'm pretty allergic to dogs. So, my $25 worth of alterations, is going to cost me an additional $50 worth of dry cleaning. If you have neither allergies, nor, Dry Clean Only items, then go for it! This shop ruined a beautiful bi-stretch pair of slacks by making a sloppy repair. The slacks had a seam pulling loose by 1" right below the zipper on the front of the slacks which I requested they repair. The seam should have been opened from the inside below the zipper end to restitch the loosened area. Instead, the gentleman failed to open the seam and simply sewed back and forth across the front of the pants using a heavy thread and created a highly visible and unsightly zigzag, ruining the appearance of the slacks. I nearly cried to have an expensive pair of slacks ruined by this shop taking this unskilled approach to an alteration request. read more

Oh I am so thankful for this place! Amidst all the excitement leading up to my best friends wedding (3 days away) I neglected to try on my bridesmaid dress until a week ago. I tried it on once when it first arrived in the mail a few months ago, but that's it. All that to say, I just realized that my dress is about 4 inches too long - and 2 inches too long with heels. I called Fast Alterations to see how long they thought it would take to fix my dress and they said 2-3 days. PRAISE. All of my friends said the place they took their dresses to would take 2-3 weeks. On Monday I dropped in, she pinned my dress to the length I wanted, I handed it over to her and she told me to come back Wednesday or Thursday. Three days later I picked up the dress and she did an excellent job! The hem was made right where we discussed and this process was relatively quick and seamless (catch that pun? hehe) on my end. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. This minimal alteration cost me $59. Perhaps that isn't steep, but I felt a bit of a sting paying $59 for a simple alteration when the dress itself cost $50. Despite my hesitancy to pay this, overall I'm happy with my experience here. I think this is under new management. We have gone to this place consistently throughout the last 5-6 years. It's close to my work so it's was easy to drop off and pick up my pants in 2 days. Previously- either to hem my pants or take the hem out for my husband's pants, it would be $10 per pant. The owner for the past has been super efficient and I knew what to expect. I would come in, wear the pants, she would mark them to where the hem needed to be then would leave and pick it up in the next few days. For my husband's, she would take out the hem-about an inch, sew and press them. Yesterday my husband went to drop off 4 of his work pants. There was a couple that was there, not the original lady. They tried to charge him $14 a pants just to release the original hem! He negotiated it down to $11. It would be nice to have some standard pricing on the wall. read more

I called this morning and told them that I needed the sleeves on a jacket to a suit altered and I needed it by tomorrow and asked if that was doable and what the total price would be. The man that owns the business said $45 and would be ready by the end of the day. I arrived and and told him it was me who called earlier and the price he gave me. After making the adjustments needed to alter the jacket, he then changed his story and said it would take three weeks to complete. I brought up that he sId he would have it ready by the end of the day and he said it was now $45 plus a $20 rush fee to have it ready next day yet told me the total owed was $97. I asked him what the extra $32 charge was for and why would it be $97 instead of the original agreed price of $45. He was not happy that I asked about the price discrepancy and wouldn't even give me an answer and just walked away while I was still wearing the jacket with the safety pins attached. I called over the Wife owner and asked her to remove the safety pins from the sleeves and left. I will not do business with dishonest people. read more

Being a vertically challenged person, I am always in search of pants with crazy short inseams and places that specialize in hemming. So, recently I needed three pairs of pants hemmed as quickly as possible for an upcoming trip. Fast Alterations came up in a Yelp search and I figured, "Hey, speed is part of their name," so I called and was able to come in right away. In the past I used two dry cleaners near my house who occasionally had a tailor in house. That was a bit of a pain because neither one really kept a regular schedule and you couldn't expect lickety-split service. Fast Alterations has regular hours and is conveniently located just past Zamzows on Overland Road if you take a left off of Eagle. It comes up pretty quick once you take the left and it's a house, so look out for the business sign and turn into the driveway when you see it! One of the drawbacks to the location is that it doesn't have a parking lot and if the driveway has other cars in it, you will eventually have to back out onto Overland Road to leave. (Unless you can stealthily back in if there isn't any traffic on Overland!) What would be the living room has been converted into a front office area with a dressing room and a counter. I was able to try each pair of pants on while the (owner?) marked them. I asked about whether or not she could keep a drawstring on the hem of one pair and she simply said, "No, I can't do that." No biggie for me, because I didn't really use the drawstring. Each pair cost 10.00 to hem and they were done the next day at the same time I dropped them off. They also have same-day service if you are REALLY in a hurry. The other thing that you have to keep in mind is that you are not going to get sweet-as-honey service here. It is a cultural thing. The lady that's there is professional and to-the-point (although she did discuss the weather and give me a smile when I came to pick up the pants). For the most part she is not incredibly outgoing... She is very matter-of-fact, and that's totally fine with me because I have three pairs of pants that won't drag on the ground that I can now take on vacation! read more

It shows in both the woman's attitude as well as her workmanship that she does not care about your clothes or what you want. She refused to taper my pants appropriately. And so gave me something half way between a skinny jean and a bootcut, with uneven sides to each leg, and one leg was twisting noticeably to the left (this only happens when too much is taken from just one side of the pant leg, rather than evenly from both sides. But I was paying for her to take in both sides). After dropping off the pants the first time, I tried calling to tell her that I would bring in a pair of my other jeans to match to; so, to wait (because I sensed something wrong with her careless attitude, that it wasn't going to turn out well). But no one answered the phone, despite multiple calls. And the voice mail box is full. So I looked at her hours online and planned to get there right when she opened, which would have been about 7 hours before the pants were supposed to be done. I was worried about not waking up in time, so I couldn't sleep the entire night. I dragged myself over there exhausted at 8am, and come to find that she was closed (her posted hours on her door are an hour and a half later than what's online). Un-frickin-believable. So I run errands to make use of the time, though all I want to do is go home and sleep. And when I return, that's when I see the problems with the pants. I asked her to fix them. Though she gave a variety of excuses she ultimately said she'd widen the bottom and take it out from just the outside (so to compensate for the twisting). On my way home, I called to make sure that she would do what was necessary so the twisting wasn't there when I returned. But no one answered the phone. I called another time. But still, no one answered. If the one leg is still twisting when I return, I'm not paying the extra money she quoted for bringing in both sides (one side had a more reinforced seem; so she quoted more to take in both sides). I'll have to bring my pants elsewhere to be fixed. Being that I'm going out of town tomorrow, and these pants were intended to go with me on the trip, I'll be all the more disappointed in this experience. * I just now updated the hours on the yelp listing, so they are more accurate. I could only remember the mon - fri ones though. read more
