This terminal does have fewer food options but a small price to pay for the comfort and ease of moving around the airport. Also if you book ahead you get a discount on parking. The train station is in what I would say the nicest way of putting it, in a sketchy part of downtown Minneapolis. It is in close distance to a beer mart and top less joints. It is in closer distance to some sketchy characters that loiter around the train station. Some do more than loiter by resorting to violence. We had just got on the train in the knick of time when a fight broke out between some loiterers on the station platform. Although there are cameras, there was a lack of security presence. That makes sense considering that there is a major Police shortage in Minneapolis. And owing to the fact that ticketing is automated, the survelience from the eyes of a ticket agent is also missing. The one thing I did like about this train station in the Fifth Avenue right-of-way was the large Bob Dylan mural facing Hennipen Avenue. In the future, if I will use the Nicollet Mall Station a couple of blocks south. It offers a nice downtown business district environment, Starbuck's, and the perception of being safe.

This is one of the few bus services that I actually relied on once in my life because I was stupid enough to come to Minneapolis without a car a very long time ago - so I take the bus at about lunch time up to the village of Hilltop and back and then a couple other buses to other locations in the area over subsequent days. And I like it because I'm a kid and it's exciting. But yeah. It wasn't great. They're not awful and they're not great. Nowhere near as nice as the buses in England though. They are a bit neglected, and I guess when buses have to run to through this much incredible snow and Siberian temperatures then you're glad that they just exist and and they don't break down.

My sister, son and I came in the middle of the day on a Wednesday in August. You don't need to sign up; anyone can wander in and go on a tour that they have scheduled throughout the day. It's even free, though they of course gladly accept donations. Being from NJ, I was struck by the midwestern friendliness of everyone in the building. Nearly everyone engaged me in friendly conversation the whole time. The tour was 45 minutes and was incredibly interesting. Learned all sorts of facts about the building and Minnesota in general. We were the first tour to be able to go on the roof in three months as they had just finished up renovations. If you're not on a tour, you're allowed to just wander the building at your own pace. Definitely a must see for those interested in history and architecture!
