I like to take warly morning walks through the park, getting my steps in. There are often many joggers, walkers, bikers and kids playing and families picnicing. Bidwell is the heart of Chico, spanning over 3,600 acres. Through the different seasons, the leaves change and provide a really beautiful park to explore. It's an older park, which you can see in the details - the outdoor swimming pool, bridges and layout. It was established in 1905, but has a long history of incorporating new areas to the park. I highly recommend checking out Bidwell Park, it's a natural treasure.

We really wanted to do loop walk, but never actually found that trail. I would want to give 4.5 if you could give half points, because more signage is needed to direct people toward the nature center and specific trails. Upper Bidwell Park, especially in conjunction with Lower Bidwell which goes right into the heart of…read moretown and the university, on the northern edge of downtown, is a wonderful park. The trails essentially from Bidwell mansion at the northern edge of downtown, along Big Chico Creek, go through the lower park, and for many miles into the foothills in the upper park. This allows easy access directly from town, and one can drive to various parking lots in the park. Scenery is varied from grassland to rocky outcroppings, walking or hiking along the heavily wooded creek or up o the hills and rocks, with some lovely scenery as well as some striking rocky scenery. There is nice swimming in the creek as well. This park system is a wonderful addition to the Chico area.

We camped 2 nights, 3 days at Lime Saddle Campground, 3428 Lime Saddle Rd, Paradise. Google maps…read moredoesn't know Marina from Campground, so went to Marina and Attendant told me keep going up the road, and the Campground is on Lime Saddle Rd, so strange. Turn right when u see the big sign for Campground, why I went to the Dead End doesn't make sense. Our site was #21 with a freakin long driveway, so had to back up straight every time I left camp site. It has a table and fire pit, no bear bins in the campground so everything stays in the car, annoying. Bathrooms: 3 unisex, flushed toilets, sink w/ water, No Soap so bring your own. There is light in the bathroom and outside. Trash can - next to our camp site and drinking water was across from our site. Bathroom we had to hike up & down the hill every time we used it. Was an ok campground, nothing special. Cost: $8 reservation fee, $25per night. Was $57.99 for 2 nights.

Despite the jet skis delivery and pick up to/from the lake being 30 minutes late each way, my…read morefamily had a blast. Why the -2 stars? My family and I have been renting jet skis around the globe for years, and not once did anyone perform a post-use inspection. I have no problem with them performing a post-use inspection, but if you are going to do that, you need to also do a pre-use inspection in front of us. We were on the lake, away from debris and the shore, yet she said the jet ski sucked up something and was damaged. We were charged an additional fee for parts and labor for repairs. The thing is, if you didn't perform a pre-use inspection in front of the customer, how do we know this isn't previous damage? Do they do this to all unsuspecting customers? Who knows. Lesson learned for next time.

As soon as we got out of the car to load up ice chests and our belongings a sheriff pulled up and started to write tickets out to everyone parked in the loading area. I get that it was not a parking spot, but the car was running and we had already packed everything we just had to load it. He had zero care for the fact all of the kids started crying because he scared them (all kids 1-10 years old) and then ended screaming at the parents saying "you have 5 minutes to leave!" We cut our day short because at the end of it. And it did create an overall HOSTILE environment for The children, and party goers. However, it is a beautiful place to take the family, water is a bit cold but not too bad. Overall I will probably never go here again with my children. Not if human decency is a foreign concept.

Good, but far too expensive for peddle boats! All other boats there are $25 and under, but the…read morepeddles are $35, and they said they barely rent any. Maybe because they are the most expensive! They're the only boats id ever rent, as the uv rays during the only time of year they are open are absolutely unbearable and vile. Both our butte and lower backs were all screwed up after though, due to not having any padding. The life vests are so thick, you can't peddle with them on, and your upper thighs push into the bottom, shoving the vests into your ears. It is tremendously uncomfortable, and we had to take our vests off and use them as padding instead.
