Ok! We have stayed here three times in the last 3 years and thought I had reviewed it but I had…read morenot! Overall it's a decent place IF you get the right room, but it's also quite rundown, especially in the hallway near the washing machines. The floor needs replacing, but let me get into this room review. 1st of all let me say that the first two times we stayed here it was just barely enough room for my family, they do not offer rooms with a third couch bed so we had to fit two adults and three children onto two queen beds and that was difficult. But other than that, the other two times were decent and we had no issues. This time they put us in room 123 Which Was Way down the hall on the first floor on the left. At first it seemed fine, but then we started noticing. There was crap all over the floor that needed to be vacuumed up and then we pulled a bedsheet back and there was hairs all over the place, it looked like it had been remade after being used and then just re-sold. But what made me really upset was my wife found a crumpled up tissue under one of the pillows on the bed. That was it, I went down to the office and complained and they said they would find us a new room and by the time I came back to the room, it stunk so bad that I was going to throw up. Apparently, when the toilet gets flushed, it releases a massive amount of disgusting smell that filled the entire room so even without those first problems, I would've immediately left the room to prevent myself from throwing up and would've stayed in the lobby in a chair instead of in that room if there was no other rooms available. Thankfully, that was not the case, and they put us across the hall in room 122, and this room was just about perfect. In every way, it didn't stink, it was clean, everything was fine. And the only problem was the very tight sleeping situation. So for the first two stays and this third stay, I will give them overall a four star rating. They were very nice and helpful, even the nice lady at night who was probably dealing with all sorts of stuff like that, she was very helpful and very nice. And then their breakfast was nice too. It's not the fanciest breakfast in the world, but it has a waffle maker and that's always nice and then there are miscellaneous fruits and muffins and eggs and stuff like that. Overall, if you don't have too many people, I do recommend this hotel, however, be very careful about the room you get and make sure to check everything.

rated The…read morereceptionist at the desk was polite and informative. Parking lot was clean and didn't have a problem finding a parking spot. Room "looked"clean. Bathroom - sink was gross and definitely had not been cleaned. Bathtub had not been cleaned either. Clumps of hair stuck on the side of the bathtub. It looked like only the faucets had been wiped off to look like it had been cleaned. I used alcohol wipes and cleaned the sink and bathroom counter myself, spread towels on the floor and the bathtub so as not to have to put bare feet on the floor. After seeing the bathroom, I didn't want to touch anything in that room without spraying it with disinfectant. Glad I brought my own sheets and blanket, because who knows what could've been lurking under the sheets. This room needs a real clean, not a pretend clean.

The comments I heard the most about this place was that it seems like it doesn't belong where it…read moreis. And that's true. It's like it was destined for somewhere else and somehow dropped from the sky and landed on Winifred's main street. Winifred MT is at the end of an already desolate road in the middle of nowhere. The census said it was home to 200 people...but I felt as if only 50 maybe lived there. It was so strange, because the same staff that worked the front desk also worked in the bar and were also maids and also cooked at the steakhouse and worked at the local cafe across the street. I'm guessing you can't find many qualified employees to work at a fancy hotel in a town of so few people in such a rural location. But those employees really did their best! They were mostly helpful - my friend and I really were curious about the other themed rooms we hadn't seen and the employees happily showed us all of them and had to take time out of cleaning the rooms to do it. It was very kind. However, there were some major issues. First of all the gal who came to the desk told us that they'd been having trouble with the key cards and that other guests may ask to borrow ours we were confused. But it was true - all keys worked on every room lock. Thank god the other guests seemed to be honest people like we are because none of our things appeared to be tempered with or taken. But I'm sorry...anyone with a key card could have just walked right into our room! That's not ok especially at a hotel that is expensive and fancy. Also, when we needed some assistance on certain things, no matter the time of day, no one seemed to be around. And when we called the desk to ask about wifi (there is no cell service in Winifred and my friend and I wanted to check in at home - the hotel phone lines to dial out weren't working either) they said it would be up the next day...there was never any wifi. The entire weekend. I'm sorry but you just can not run a modern, expensive hotel with zero wifi. It may not be a priority or even an understood priority by the staff in Winifred but to those of us who come to stay there I can assure them it really is. Especially because there is no cell service there. They also had 500 dollar fines for various offenses, one of which was bringing your dog. As an animal lover who travels with my dogs (most of the time, not on this occasion) I feel it's very important to be pet friendly, especially in this day in age when many people feel as I do. I realize there could be some irresponsible pet owners, but I can say that I don't personally know any. And that my dogs are always well behaved and clean when we travel with them. I would encourage this hotel to become pet friendly and they'd probably get more guests. On to our room - we stayed in the Paris suite. It was very pretty (loved the light fixture) and well put together aside from some ceiling tiles that had water stains. The remote controlled fire place never did work for us no matter how hard we tried. But the room and bathroom were quite clean. Aside from maybe one stray hair and a stain in the shower the place was really spotless. I was impressed. They also had soft water while we were there which added to the luxury feel of the very nice shower. Although the only outlet in the bathroom never worked for us so we had to do our hair standing awkwardly by a mirror in the bedroom. We also got to see the biggest, best, suite in the place - the Grecian suite. It was so fancy that it made the entire place seem more bizarre because how does a place like that exist in a tiny town!? There was a full size beautiful kitchen. Huge windows overlooking main. A fireplace and a couch. Two life size Grecian statues, a king size bed, a huge bathroom with walk in shower, and let's not forget that right in the middle of it all (with the statues on either side) was the hot tub. It was absolutely giant. The biggest, fanciest hot tub I have ever seen in my life. The other suites I saw were more like the Paris suite - newly decorated, clean (or being cleaned), with interesting international themes. A few even had "views" out the windows in the form of giant photos being put onto the building next door so it looked like you were overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge etc. A little cheesy but nice. And very fun to look at. And overall the decor was really modern and very very well put together. Whoever the designer of this place was - they did a good job. In the end, I feel like the issues they had shouldn't have existed, especially because there was a wedding in town that weekend - wouldn't you make sure everything was ok when you had a booked weekend? But you have to rethink your standards in a small isolated town so I think that this place is worth four stars :)

He sounded very flat and didn't seem to care if we stayed there or not. But, the price was right and the other reviews not terrible. We had a good night sleep and had everything we needed, until the morning. We are slow movers in the morning and never in a hurry to get anywhere. As long as we have our coffee and wi-fi, we are happy. There was no hot water for showers. The maids were very busy in the other rooms and washing linens in a machine set on hot, but delivering luke warm water. I had already extended our stay for an additional night so it was 10:30 when we realized that if we wanted showers, they would be cold. I asked the maids to cool it with the wash so we could shower. She told me we would have hot water in 20 minutes, well we didn't. When I called the front desk, I was fortunate enough to talk to Mr. personality again, he didn't care at all when I told him we were not staying. What a surprise. Save yourselves some grief, go directly to the Sunset, where management really cares and it's obvious.

The exterior and interior of our section had fresh paint and new-ish carpet (but "budget" carpet). In this price range, I would expect some effort at decor in the hallway. Our room & bathroom were expansive in size, with ample surfaces to set our things. PROs: 2 sinks in the bathroom, Keurig coffee w/ 2 decafs & 2 regulars!, plenty of decent towels, a refrig & microwave, our night was quiet. CONS: shower is like a phone booth - might not suit larger bodies. I couldn't plug in both the refrig & the microwave at the same time, so had to plug & unplug from a socket that was missing its faceplate. Light in the room at night from the pool area. Linens & pillows reminded me of Goodwill cast-offs. A little tricky to use the card key to enter Exit D after parking. We inquired about a room at Super 8, but it was full.

There's a number of things physically that could be better, being able to control the temperature in your room or even being told that you couldn't would have been at the top of the list. However, I'm not sure these folks even understand that they are in the hospitality business. The "I just work here" comments are epic. Sad really. Our room was baking, I used my sweatshirt as a pillow because the pillows were about 8" tall, coffee machine in the bathroom (eww), etc. Tried opening the window/door to outside patio, but was startled a handful of times in the middle of the night by loud bangs, crashing so sweat it out in the sauna inside our room. The staff was very friendly and kind, the gourmet chef was UNBELIEVABLE in the attached restaurant. From the room charge to the restaurant everything was super affordable. This place is a hidden secret that everyone should know about! It is open year round to boot! I can't imagine driving the gravel road we came in on in winter but they say it is kept plowed and people come from everywhere to visit their restaurant and enjoy nature. I believe it! As if the clean lodge with comfy beds and Dish TV/WiFi wasn't enough, there were miles of quiet, easy to walk, groomed trails to hike right from the lodge! Do you like nature? We woke up to two mule deer peacefully grazing on the lawn in front of our room. So beautiful! Last but not least, to drive through Lewistown and NOT stop at Judith Mountain Lodge (its worth the drive) for at least a piece of the chefs award winning cheesecake or chocolate cake would be an absolute sin. While you are at it order something off the incredible menu. I ordered a Ribeye steak that was huge! I felt like Fred Flintstone in the intro to the cartoon when he orders a steak and when it comes it flips his stone car over! LOL! All the beef is grass fed and raised on local ranches. I can't sing the praises of this lodge enough. I can hardly wait to go back someday! Tammy K. Fall Creek, Wisconsin
