Could not bargain. I decided to go with Akie's Flower Shop cause they had the best flower arrangements in front, the guy was easy to deal with, and his picture in the flower arrangements was the best. I asked him to do a good job and he had it ready in 45 min. I was very happy and impressed with the flower arrangement. It was much bigger than I anticipated and he put in extra effort to make it beautiful and stand out. That's why I'm giving him and his shop a big thumbs up!

No need to go all the way to Dangwa which is quite far away. That would cost a lot if all you need is a bouquet. Also, you don't need to find high-end flower shops for there is a line of flower shops located in the vicinity of the city hall and the post office. These flower shops offer roses, carnations, daisies, lilies as staple. Sometimes you can also find rare types like orchids. The flowers are sold at affordable prices plus creating a bouquet or a flower arrangement and whatever materials that come with the presentation are given free. So next time you need to show you care, remember your choice is not limited to chocolates. Many women actually prefer flowers.

So my plan was all set, cook him his favorite bacon-egg-fried rice combo early in the morning, pack it up nicely, add a thermos of brewed coffee, and personally deliver it in the morning (Spoiler Alert: It went well but I had to skip work that day). I was thinking of a way of making it look extra special. Flowers? Sorry to conform to gender roles, but I don't think giving my boyfriend flowers was the best idea. So I decided for the next best thing: balloons. Where would I buy a balloon arrangement in Maginhawa? Thank you, La Rosa flower shop for existing to answer my need for balloons. PROS: Easy and quick service in a very convenient location; They included a curly blue ribbon to my balloon's stick! Thanks kuya! CONS: So. I didn't end up getting a balloon arrangement. I just got *one.* Because a single one that's probably as big as my palm costs P 150.00. Is it supposed to be that expensive? Or am I just cheap? TL;DR: A flower shop is no place to buy cheap balloons.

There are probably online flower services, I'm sure, though I'm always a little wary and anxious when making transactions online, so I'd much rather swing by Gateway and make arrangements with the actual salesperson there. I'm not sure if it's this particular Holland Tulips, but they seem to be limited in their options regarding budget and arrangements. There seems to be only a range of about 4 or 5 different bouquets, with not that big a visual difference. Sometimes it seems like there's only a difference in one or two flowers, and I do realize that that would be enough to create a different impact in a bouquet, but whatever. I do appreciate how quickly they were able to make arrangements to deliver the bouquet the day after I ordered it, which I can imagine might not fly so easily with other flower shops. Then again, I live really nearby, so that might have been a breeze for them to do. Their stall itself could be prettier in general, but I'll still be coming back to them for my floral necessities.

They are pricey, but their bouquets are tastefully arranged and the flowers are fresh.

Last Valentine's Day I received 2 Designer Blooms bouquets. Unfortunately, the bouquet I received did not seem to be at par with your usual standards, as the flowers appeared old and wilted upon arrival. Sadly it did not even last on Valentine's Day. The flowers were delivered on the 13th. We were given old, wilted flowers. Such a shame because they pride themselves as luxury and quality. Packaging might be good but that quality of the flowers is very poor. It is very expensive considering you are only paying for the brand name and packaging. Regardless of the amount of the order, each order should be given importance. I have emailed them. airing my sentiments (with photos) but they have not replied to this date. I trust this brand because their family who runs this company has been in business since 1993 and they have various branches. They started out focusing on artificial and dried flowers, which they still do very well, but now they are more into fresh imported flowers. The roses they have on display are of very high quality, aligned to the price you pay. The succulents don't last as well in the basement I guess they didn't look that great. Designer Blooms is worth the price you pay.

I went just to sightsee and thought it was pretty wonderful, a giant, colorful open air market absolutely teeming with life. The place was huge, with what felt like hundreds of vendors selling fish, meat, and produce in tightly arranged stalls. There were lots of people and the occasional cat, and we tourists were in the minority--I think almost everyone else was there to buy or sell food. The produce looked fresh, and there was a robust seafood section. We'd visited the Navotas fish port that morning, and I gather that a lot of the fish caught there make there way to the Farmers Market. We stopped by the food court and picked up mango and green mango shakes at the Fruitas stand. I'm sure we missed out on other excellent eats, but those shakes were delicious. I'll bet you could spend quite some time exploring this Farmers Market. I enjoyed my visit and would recommend the place to anyone living in or passing through Metro Manila.

Open air in that there are no walls so even from the middle you can see the outdoor city streets. There is a ceiling covering the entire market so no food or person will be exposed to the sun and/or elements. The place is huge like at least one city block. Every vendor is its own business, so every stall you go to you will have to make a payment. Also able to haggle if you have any skill for it. I do not but natives...it's in their blood. No card transactions either straight cash, and actually have smaller bills so to make giving change easier. When I said old world, I meant old world! Place is also sectioned off...vegetables in one area, fruit vendors in another, beef, poultry, eggs, fish and shellfish are all grouped by their product. A little overwhelming for me but if you shop here regularly then I suppose you can figure out which vendor works for you, then you can establish a relationship. No shopping carts or even baskets. So bring your own bags. We only brought 1 bag and after buying more shellfish than what we came for, my aunt and I went to the house wares area and bought a small plastic bucket to put our bags of seafood in. We put all our produce in the bag I brought. The nature of the market will give first worlders fits. Nothing is refrigerated and is just sitting out in open air. Even seafood and meats like beef and pork. Just sitting or hanging in open air, and that air is not cool or temperate. Lol. I got a little queasy a few times but it is just how certain countries have been doing it for centuries. Sure there are modern grocery stores here that will rival any grocery store in the US or Europe, but I wanted to see one of these again before my trip ended. It just is in more in touch with regular people, people who are living their daily lives. That is what I wanted to be a part of. Whilst putting down food for my family, I was also able to help another put food on theirs. An exchange I can smile and feel good about. 5 Old World Stars!

I believed that lie until I was about ten. I guess that was to prevent me from buying all the awesome goodies this shop has to offer. Sorry, parents. I'm buying gifts for myself. They have everything! And I really mean everything. They have all my childhood candies next to a stand of plastic balloons. You know, those little tubes which you squeeze until this substance comes out which you blow into with the use of a little stick. There's a shelf with plates, spoons and forks and knives, cups and lunchboxes. And in the center, you'll find notebooks, stickers, pens, art materials, cellphone cases and the occasional sex toy. Speaking of toys, they do have toys for babies and children and adults who collect toys. Not into those things? They have bags, clothes and hats too. I remember being dragged here by my mom whenever I needed a costume for school. "You're only going to wear it once anyway. But it at Regina," she'd say. Don't get me wrong, their clothes don't break after one use. They have cool socks and hats. And sometimes if you're lucky, they have sell Christmas stockings. I can't remember everything they sell at this shop. So it would be great if you have a look for yourself. You won't be disappointed and you'll leave with lots of loot.
