I love being able to walk in, name a price, and receive a beautifully designed bouquet put together on the spot. Prices are always far more reasonable than buying from online retailers. Seems like a good time to update :) It's a new year and I've continued to receive very nice arrangements from Flower World. Valentines Day, Easter, other "just because" flowers have all shown up looking lovely! They are still some of the longest lasting flowers I've received. I also like how stable the arrangements are. No premature leaning or wilting. The stems are also usually left long so I have some room for trimming them if I'd like. Service is fine, I have no complaints. If they call ahead they are on time. There's never an attitude about my dogs yapping and making conversation difficult or me taking awhile to get to the door. I had a guy from another florist deliver once.. he was very late, after calling and saying he'd be at my house in ten minutes it took over an hour. Then he beeped the horn and knocked on my door incessantly. I open the door and he says "thought I called and said I was on the way?". Then he lingered, waiting for a tip I guess. I smirked and shut the door. I'm glad to say that's never happened with Flower World. As for the latest review of FW. Rules are rules. If a business is setting time aside to deliver something, why shouldn't they charge for it even if it's just next door? If that's their policy, that's their policy. Expecting special treatment from a place you've never used before or don't have a relationship with is a bit presumptuous. I'd have handled things the way whoever took the order did. Only I'd have offered to make the arrangement and hold it for her sister to pick up, if money was an issue. From the tone of the review, the reviewer sounds a bit miffed, if that's how she was on the phone as well then that probably didn't help her much. I can't comment on the price of delivery charges. I don't send a lot of flowers. I do know florists aren't cheap in general. read more

Needed a last minute centerpiece for my mom so called since I was close while doing of shopping downtown. I gave some information on who for and how much wanted to spend, she asked to give her 20 minutes and when I arrived I was extremely impressed with what she made up! Absolutely beautiful arrangement in an adorable deer wicker basket we can use again! Will definitely be using her from now on. Thank you so much!! read more

Used yelp to find this flower shop to pick up a sweet bouquet as a thank you gesture for hospitality. The woman there (who I think may have owned it) was very helpful in arranging something for us. She had a couple tips about "what men seem to gravitate to" and she hit the nail on its head as my boyfriend pulled another flower of the same color saying he liked it! The selection of fresh cut flowers was simple, but allowed you to pull together a whimsical arrangement that I imagine will last awhile. We live in Boston so were spoiled by our selection of rare florals, but the longevity isn't always there. What really blew us away was that we told her $30 was our price point and she put together a good sized arrangement in a fun vintage mason jar and priced it at $22. My mom had the most beautiful display of flowers and a peace lily delivered to Tennessee for my father-in-law's funeral. She was impressed with their service and very reasonable prices. Going through them was so much less expensive than having them sent through the big "dot com" flower company. The service was personal, and the quality was far beyond my expectations. Entirely disappointed.... Wanted to send a small sweet bouquet to a teacher who works LITERALLY right next door to this Florist. I figured they could throw something sweet together and walk next door as a "neighborhood courtesy"... You know.... keeping it "in the family".... old town neighborly type of thing... I was blown away when they told me they had a $40 minimum... and then a LARGE ($12+) delivery charge minimum on top of that! I tried to explain I just wanted a little something delicate, cut flowers and pretty greens (no vase) walked next door... something sent as a "thinking of you" to my sister (a teacher) with a flower from each of her neices & nephews included... no grand gesture was needed...... It was a total "no go" with a crabby and snarky gal on the other line... I'm honestly shocked by their unwillingness to be accommodating and do something for folks right next door in their community.. I was told by the gal..."Even if we walk our flowers to the office upstairs... we're charging a delivery fee".... ummm,nice. If I have to pay $52+ to send flowers... I might as well order from someone else who actually is pleasant and has to spend money on gas for the "delivery" fee. read more

I've always been a fan of Flower World, and have gotten flowers from here a number of times in the past 5 years. Service is always friendly. They let me build my own bouquets from their selection if I'm feeling creative, or will build something for me if I'm not. Usually I just say "I want to send $15 and no carnations, something with pink" and they make me a beautiful bouquet within minutes. I've never ordered a flower delivery from here, so I can't speak for that. They also have some small gift items, candles, cards, etc. And some nice houseplants as well. read more

I was trying to support Troy businesses by choosing Flower World, however I was disappointed. I ordered a bouquet online to be delivered for Mother's Day and it never arrived. I thought, maybe they were busy because of the holiday so I waited 2 days and then received an email saying the flowers were delivered when in fact they were not. I called the shop and they assured me they would make a new bouquet and send it that day. Which they did, however, the owner, Nina, delivered them to my mother's home and was incredibly rude to my family member asking "Are you sure you didn't get them" and "Can I just check the side of the house?" I was upset with this and was offered compensation for the order, but that was last week and still no refund. read more

Recently held a bridal shower in Albany and needed to coordinate it from New Hampshire where I live. My daughter lives in Troy so I called a Flower World and asked them to put something together for a centerpiece. It was late notice, the day before the shower. Never having used them before, I was not sure what to expect. What a pleasant surprise. The purple flowers and white lilies were beautiful and fresh. Everyone at the shower commented on them. Would highly recommend them and hope I have another opportunity to do so. Thank you Flower World for a wonderful job. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Valentines weekend, I ordered an arrangement of flowers for my fiancé. My first sign that this was going to be a bad experience began with the delivery man going to the wrong house. Not just the "house next door" but about 500 numbers off. Once we finally received the flowers, it was one of the saddest arrangements I have ever seen (3 days later, they are already dead). Half of it was ferns! Which are nice to look at if I'm walking in the woods, but when I'm paying $80, I would expect a little more creativity. I decided to call the store later that day to express my disappointment in the arrangement. The owner took it upon herself to argue with me about how it had come out, and got very defensive in doing so. She explained to me where all the flowers came from and why it looked the way it did. As you can assume, this is the last thing I needed/ wanted to hear. DO NOT use this store for any of your flower needs, you will be disappointed. A note for the owner: If you ever have a costumer call with a complaint, advice, or frustration, it is in your best interest to accept what is said, and leave it at that. On May 17 2014, I went to Flower World located at 83 Third Street Troy NY I specifically ordered a RED and WHITE Rose Arrangement Red to symbolize Love and White to simbolize Peace and a heart Shaped Satin Pillow for my brothers funeral service that Costed me $159.84, while at his services I believed the floral arrangement there were someone elses flowers and a pillow because what was there was nothing like I ordered. I am heart broken because the order I placed was from the heart. What the sent was a floral arrangement with 6 red roses, carnations, and white poms ...Not WHAT I Ordered !!! When confronting the woman who took my order, she said in reguards to the pillow.. Oh Im the one that made the pillow, when I said I specifically told her that i wanted the heart shaped pillow, she responded with well its still a satin pillow. I did NOT order a square satin pillow. I am so dis pleased with this flower shop. I will never place and Order with them again and Im also considering filing a Small Claims against this shop. The took my order, they took my money and send different arrangements than what I ordered.On top of my order, they also messed up my sisters order, she ordered a spray and specifically told the woman that took our orders that she wanted to add a dozen of Malibu Roses to be spread throughout the arrangement. They only added 6 of the roses and had them in a line which made the arrangement look redicilous. My family is so dis pleased with the services provided by this florist shop. They took advantage of our vulnerabilities in a time like this. And this is just so wrong. read more
