The store is mainly outside but there's a cute little shop inside. It's a place where you can find a gift for anyone. Especially garden lovers. It was Mother's Day & the people of Lompoc & Vandenberg Village really outdid themselves with a spectacular blow out. The 2020, crowned Queen of the Lompoc Flower Festival, Tayla Valencia, sang her heart out, as a fellow also played some music. I spoke to one of the Princesses who told me more about what was going on. I also found out later from the wonderful organizer, Shelby, that Tayla, also sang in a band. Since it was Mother's Day they had not only really nice flowers for mom, but were selling homemade soaps and local crafts & some local special gifts like jars of local honey. This was in addition to having several veges & fruit vendors with their selections. We found some interesting Veges from two vendors, and a delicious locally made Rye Bread with Caraway seeds that reminded me of the ones that I had as a kid in ole Brooklyn. It was perfect! I had some nice chats with a few vendors and a retired local who liked in VV. He was a really nice fellow and we chatted for about 15 minutes or so. He gave me some tips on the area & to avoid the overpriced gas station nearby. Since this is the only year round SUNDAY [10AM -2 PM] Farmers Market anywhere within even more than an hours drive or much more, I had to visit here...and I was so thrilled that I did. It was also a great time to take a scenic wildflower filled drive from Pismo to VV, and then on to explore Lompoc. We then went on to explore both Surf Beach and Ocean Park, and then found the Mission for a future visit since by the time we finished by the ocean & beach, it was getting late. On a previous visit we had already explored the famous so-called Wine Ghetto behind Home Depot. When I came home, I read tons on the early & later history of Lompoc & it is quite amazing. It is full of all kinds of tales, so please check out the Lompoc's Historical Website for a whole bunch of interesting articles! All in all, we had a wonderfully serendipitious adventure....and added yet another Farmers Market visit to my growing portfolio of Yelp FM reviews! It's unfortunate for locals because I saw someone local do a pretty significant essentials purchase and it was damned near $150 for maybe what normally would cost $40-50. Oof. The place was clean, organized and had lots of options for drinks, snacks, candy and essentials...like, lots lots. That said I was a visitor and was just here for snacks and drinks for our room. The cashier was helping ring up the local person and they chatted away and took their time. I specifically remember this cause I was desperately holding pee. We waited just under 10 min. Maybe it just felt that way but again, oof. Once we got to the counter the cashier was friendly. Got our goodies and left. I really wish I'd known about the Mexican food in the back cause we would have absolutely grabbed some food there. No biggies, maybe next time.
