Fantastic Health Food in the downriver area!…read more It's a shame the only bad reviews this thriving business gets are from the folks who are upset that a coffee shop was shut down over a year ago due to the city raising rent for ever business downtown.

Better Health is a gem in Downriver and a great alternative to Whole Foods. In fact, I find that…read moreBetter Health has more variety than Whole Foods does. For example, Better Health has the Mojito flavor of GT's Kombucha while Whole Foods doesn't. I didn't even know this flavor existed before stepping into Better Health! This location is much, much, much smaller than their Novi location. However, they still have a solid selection of health food. There is also a cafe in the back that serves sandwiches, salads, smoothies, and juices. Nearly everything I have had at the cafe has been excellent with the exception of one thing (it was like an uncut sushi roll/sandwhich. The rice was so dried out and it had absolutely no flavor. I couldn't even finish it and it was very expensive!). If you're a vegetarian, the veggie burger is amazing! If you sign up for their texts, you get 10% off every day. They also have 15% off on certain days! However, I feel like their posted prices are slightly higher than Whole Foods, so the 10% off takes it down to regular prices. Finally, I love how they sell food that's almost past the best by or expiration date at a 50%-75% discount. Of course you have to feel comfortable eating this food but I've gotten a great deal on GT's kombucha, organic grass fed cheese, coconut popsicles, and fermented pickles. You can even ask for a discount. I noticed that a kombucha drink was about to expire, so I asked them if they could offer a discount, and they did!

First time coming here, wanted to check out what a healthy store was like in the Detroit area. They…read moreremind me so much of the stores back home in the Chicagoland suburbs I frequently shop at. Overall this place has some hard to find items like canned Soursop and Zevia energy drinks. Not as many vegan options like I would expect but the grocery store is small so that way you're not wandering around for hours. Staff here was friendly and helpful. Pretty pricey store but if you're a member you can get great discounts.

I yelped organic grocery stores and this was one of the options that came up. I came by and was astonished at the amount of inventory they have in stock. They were fully stocked and the prices on some of the items appeared to be more cheaper than prices back home which was a nice surprise. I met Lindsey gal who works in the deli area and she provided me with a 20% off all my groceries coupon. I was able to receive a nice discount off all my groceries which was a blessing and a bonus. They have an amazing menu which consists of fresh all organic juices, smoothies, salads, bone broth and that day they had chicken corn chowder on the menu. I got their bone broth, cleanser juice plus an add on of cucumber, Greek salad and the chowder. Per the owners advice I started my meal with the bone broth as it has healing properties and it works best on an empty stomach so it can absorb into the body. After drinking all the broth I felt so incredible and nourished. I can't describe it but my body really absorbed it well. I also can tell that Lindsey made everything with such excellence and care. I followed the broth with the Greek salad and chowder. Everything was so fresh and amazing. I felt satisfied, nourished and full. Not the kind of full you get when you eat a heavy meal but a perfect satisfaction you feel when you've eaten a well balanced meal hence loving yourself. I give this store a 5 stars and will be coming back at least a few more times until I leave for home. This place is amazing and a bit of heaven right smack in the middle of an area that doesn't have many organic options. I highly recommend it.
