I've been wanting to get to a nursery to buy some vegetables and herbs to plant. The problem is, Weigand's is a bit of a drive from my house, and I always seem to have something going on every weekend. But, I drive by Flower Barn Nursery whenever I go to the post office. I figured it was a place that just had flowers, like the name says. I was very happy to find that they had significantly more than that. They have a variety of herbs and vegetables, though they don't have a gigantic sea of them, like Weigand's. You will find several of many different kinds of herbs and vegetables, though. And, I don't need to plant 20 tomato plants, so smaller volume is fine by me. I bought chives, sweet basil, a peanut plant, and several Thai finger pepper plants. Each tray of the pepper plants had four plants on it. And, each one was only $2.99 (so, I got 4 pepper plants was a total of $2.99). There are also plenty of things for landscaping, and prices are less than, say, Weigand's. You might not see the fanciest, high-end things, but they have you covered for whatever you need for your garden. And, with gas prices being so high, I was very happy to save gas on the drive. There weren't many people here, which is a shame. A lot of people probably were just like me, and drove right past. I definitely won't make that mistake again. read more

Stopped in today. I have to admit that I have driven past this business location all my life and never stopped in. Kinda quiet this time of year. They have some fresh cut flowers inside the store, and tons of pottery outside. Sale: 50 percent off all plant pots. Lawn statues 30 percent off. read more

Owner/ Manager is an A Hole! Very rude and unprofessional! Large assortment of products but most things are overpriced. Go somewhere else.

My daughter, granddaughter, and I went into this place to browse, and look at plants. We wandered around for about 30 minutes, waiting for a sales person to come and assist us. No one ever came. A Caucasian gentleman and his son came in, and out of nowhere there were sales people in abundance to help. Needless for to say, I will never visit this establishment again. read more

I purchased 3 African Cichlichs to put into my grow out tank for $39. In less than a week fish began to die and m5 of my original fish started to died. I called and was told to bring water into shop to be tested. I did that. According to the so-called marine biologists that tank the perimeters were good accept ph was 8.4 high. Most fish places will tell you African Cichlichs like ph high. I had patronize this shop over the years. I was a loyal customer. Poor customer service! Do not purchase your fish here. Went to sea world to purchase fish. Touched the glass . The woman said don't touch the glass because your teasing the fish because they think your feeding them. She said it was "animal abuse". She said. " it's like teasing a dog with a treat and not giving them it." Um no ... it's nothing like that... standing in front of the tank would be doing the same thing. It called conditioning fish. Then she got rude and said. " if you wouldn't do it to a dog .. don't do it to my fish." NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN! I am sorry but fish are always hungry and looking for food. You want to talk abuse? Try not putting your betta in tiny cups and cubes. They do live in puddles but not small ones. I am not new to fish and don't everything .. but not my first rodeo. I have driven past this place thousands of times in my life. Finally stopped in. Wow. Huge place. Here's the rundown. My raiting is on planters. There are tons. A few plastic, mainly terracotta and cement. You name it. All kinds of sizes from teeny to 4 ft tall. Prices for them are reasonable for what you are getting and amazing bright or muted colors. From 0.35 for a tiny pot to 105.00 for a giant that needs 2 people to move. I spent a lot of time admiring these. They have all kinds of plants. Some really bold colors I like in a covering plant. Prices for flats or veggiesare average. Hanging baskets. Tons, but a lot very wilted!! They need a lot of water. Prices were on average 14.99-22.99. They were smaller then what I get at Denewyths and for less or the same price. They were not bad but I'll stick with what I have for the prices. They have a bunch of trees and bushes. Think the sign said something like 10 for $100. My main star deduction was for lack of staff. This place is massive, they have 2 cashiers inside, then I saw 3 teenage guys either loading mulch/large plants or loading other items. One nice employee by the flowers, pruning them with small sheers. Nobody else! She needed at least 6 more people to help WATER and tend to customers and plants. That's insane. Poor lady. I definitely recommend checking this place out, even if you don't need plants. Worth the stop. If you do buy, thoroughly inspect the plant and ask the retun policy if it does look a tad on the dry side. Overall great stop. read more

They have a great selection of planters and unusual garden ornaments but the prices are a little on the high side. They have a really cool 5 ft tall metal dinosaur for $349.00. Hubby keeps insisting it will look great in the yard. I think I'll pass for now. I'm docking stars because of the cashier. When I went to buy our items he would not say one word to me. I'm serious. He would not respond to "hi" or "thank you" or "have a good day" or anything! and I know he could talk because he was chatting up a storm with a coworker. Hubby and I just shook our heads on the way back to the car. We won't be returning. read more

I was very impressed with this store due to its layout and how clean it is. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable, polite and professional. I can't say enough good things about this store, the owner is an excellent guy to work with. Going forward this will be my one stop shop. Also their price point is spot on, they don't try to gouge you like most of the local stores do. Fish and Coral selection is also amazing and healthy, I have never seen a Selection this large anywhere in Michigan and I have been in the Reefing Hobby for thirty two years. Also looking at a few of the negative reviews,they seem out of touch or false. The owner John has been more then helpful, and ordered me two custom aquariums. Worst experience I've ever had here. I drive a half hr outta my way cause on weekends I have always received the most help. Apparently during the week no one helps and you get ignored. Went to the back cause I know that's where you get the live plants and feeder fish, not one person acknowledges me so I go up to the front to tell the cashier what I need. He tells me that I have to go to the back, 4 people should be back there. So I do again. Walked up to someone asked if they could get me what I needed, instead of being acknowledged they proceeded to keep doing what they were doing, ignored me so I waited probably 5 more mins. Still again wasn't acknowledged that I needed help, so I put what I had in my hands back on the shelf and walked out. I will hands down not being coming back to this place. Especially to a place that has employees that refuse to help or don't even acknowledge your speaking. read more

Owner-manager- is very unprofessional and rude. Not worth the hassle going there. Selling products that are defected and knowing about it and still selling it. What the staff said to wife: " Well It was on sale, so we figure people would get at least one use out of it". (Fire Pit) For the record didn't even get to use it not once. When My Wife tried to returned it, she had the pleasure of dealing with the owner-manager (didn't say his name) and she was mistreated and to the point where got her upset. Even the fact that she was with her young son didn't stop him from being a true A-hole. I would not recommend this place to anyone no matter what sale sign they put up. why support a person that would treat a women the way he did. read more
