The location was chosen because my wife has been here quite a bit and Moss has a good reputation overall. After my second visit I pretty much knew the warm up routine and was allowed to get started right away. I was shown a few different stretches to do and left to do them. When I needed assistance, which I rarely did, the therapist was right in the area to assist me with whatever it was. I tend to be someone who typically goes to the doctors office when plagued by an issue, although now I find myself checking out alternative therapies more like acupuncture, chiropractic, meditation, etc. I also was a bit fearful of needles when I initially came here after a traumatic experience before a surgery, but I'm thrilled that my fear has really dissipated thanks to acupuncture! I now relax and lay back when the needles are being put in and I'm really amazed because recently I had to get a lot of blood drawn and I just relaxed, held my arm out and went to my Zen like place, which is really great! Before acupuncture, I would have been much more anxious and on edge. I not only have arthritis in my knee, which is my primary reason for coming to acupuncture but I also have chronic pain- a condition which affects the body with widespread pain and tenderness called fibromyalgia, which is a misunderstood and baffling illness. So, I'm coming to Healing Arts for both! I would much rather have a Zen like afternoon catnap where I can relax that take lots of medications. I may not be able to completely avoid the latter but whatever I can do holistically and naturally will definitely be my preference. While I may not ever be cured of these conditions completely, knowing that acupuncture can really help me manage my symptoms is invaluable! It's a great way of coping, a huge tool in my toolbox of coping strategies and I would personally much rather have acupuncture any day than get injections and have to take lots of pills. I tend to come about once a month and the first couple of times I noticed some soreness but I have found much better results as I keep going. Occasionally a little bruise or soreness may occur but the pain relief, motion and relief from stiffness in joints is really amazing and awesome! My knee feels much better after going this 3rd time, much more movement when it was pretty stiff. They also have a Yelp deal, check in offers and all in all is a relaxing experience- chill out on a massage bed with pillows, calming music, refreshing scents, dim lighting and yes, some privacy too from the Shoji screens. I have had 3 practitioners- Margaret, Holly and Steve, I thought they were all good, I prefer Steve but they were all good. I'll be back!

I accidentally came in a week early for appointment after writing it down wrong (oops!) but the staff at HACA were so kind and accommodating despite it being completely my mistake, and were able to fit me in for a great session. The place was really well set-up with rugs, heaters, and screens to separate patient treatment areas that are all within the same large room. Holly Prescott was the practitioner that day and she did a great job asking what I was there for and then placing needles so gently I hardly felt them. It's rare that I slip into the deep, almost sleep-like relaxation I felt during this treatment, but I was so completely relaxed that it came easily. Thanks for the great session Holly!

Surgery was recommended back in the 90's but I was also told that it would come right back if I continued to use computers. As an administrative assistant not using a computer was not an option! So I just made do all these years. Recently, a family member went to Barefoot Doctor Community Acupuncture for carpal tunnel syndrome and found great relief. They are similar illnesses so I decided to try it. I am so glad that I did! After one relaxing treatment my symptoms were greatly diminished. After two visits the symptoms were nearly gone. I am five or six visits in now and some days are completely symptom-free. When I do feel anything, it's very mild. The office is quiet and calm, and each treatment area is comfortably secluded by curtains. Jenny and Rachel are kind and gentle, and explain the process well. The sliding scale ensures that this wonderful care is more accessible than a doctor's visit to the uninsured. Highly recommended.

It is a BEAUTIFUL space, with lots of intention placed on creating a healing environment. I am especially grateful because CAMA offers semi-private treatment at very reasonable rates. You are first seen privately to talk for a few minutes about your progress or current ailments, and are brought into a quiet, common space for your actual treatment, where others are lying face up or down on cozy tables blissed out and dreaming. The others were fairly impersonal and felt to me like an assembly line, with the therapists treating several patients at once: showing me an exercise for five minutes, then going over to other patients and barely coming back to check on me. Excel Art Museum is completely the opposite. The office is pleasant, cheerful, and very personalized, beginning with the receptionist Sonia, who is extremely professional and efficient. But more important, she excels in matching each patient with the most suitable therapist, and is extremely congenial, compassionate, caring, and accommodating with scheduling. She is a huge asset, and I can't recommend her enough. She plays an essential part in the personalized care and excellence of the center. Now to a crucial component, the therapists: You can't go wrong with any of them here. All are extremely professional, affable, cheerful, and ready to help. They offer highly individualized and state-of-the-art treatment. This staff works nicely as a clearly coherent team. All that said, the most influential and critical element is one's personal therapist, and I won the lottery with mine. Evan is exceptional. I was referred by my doctor for gait, balance and strength deficits following many falls . On our very first encounter, he made me feel at ease, calming me down when I was emotional, sensitively listening to and addressing my concerns and therapeutic needs. He implemented the highest level of expertise and skills possible. I was a needy and challenging patient, and Evan demonstrated much compassion and insight, honing in on the best possible care plan. He devoted exceptional attention and rigorous efforts to providing me with the most effective exercises, streamlined to my particular physical deficits and challenges. I was amazed at his personalized and constant attention, the likes of which I have never seen in any therapy center. He seldom left my side during the entire session, making me feel very safe and attended to. He had the utmost of patience, sensitivity, and empathy for my challenging and demanding ups and downs. His work on my strengthening and balance delivered immediate and discernible progress. This was the polar opposite of the cookie cutter type of practice. Any patient fortunate enough to have Evan as their therapist will surely find much measurable and long lasting improvement in their particular areas of concern.
