The Meg!
Matt M.

It's my first time back in Florida since before Covid. Just typing that sentence breaks my heart. It has been too long! My heart belongs to Florida. My grandparents lived in St. Augustine, I went to college in Pensacola, and my family owned some property near Winter Haven. It's good to be back! If you ever find yourself crossing the Florida State Line via I-75 (I'm speaking to my fellow Midwesterners), a quick rest stop at the Florida Welcome Center is a must! I am old enough to remember when state welcome centers were a big deal while traveling. This was when we used a book of paper maps called an Atlas and didn't have access to the entire collected information of the human race in the palm our hands. As a kid cramped in a small car with a suitcase as a pillow on road trips, you couldn't wait to pass the next state line and stop at the welcome center. You were able to stretch, run, and collect EVERY SINGLE brochure for all the attractions that particular state had to offer. Among welcome centers, a few stood head and shoulders above the rest. Florida's Official Welcome Center was always the cream of the crop! While most states' welcome centers have regressed into simply another ho-hum rest stop, Florida's Welcome Center still feels like my childhood. I was excited to stop in and let my own children experience the excitement of entering one of my favorite states. The Welcome Center is staffed with a real person greeting you with fresh orange or grapefruit juices. They have all the brochures you could ever want, and the center does a great job of highlighting some key aspects of the Sunshine State. Whether this would be your first time visiting a welcome center, or if you would like to pass down a tradition to your children, stop in and have a cup of fresh orange juice on the house. Welcome centers were a staple of a bygone road travel era, but Florida still does it better than anyone.

Every time we re-enter FL, we hope we can go into the Welcome Center to sample the OJ and see their latest promotion. It's open until 5PM, and we arrived at 4:30. This time the promotion was Capt. Citrus joining the Avengers in a comic book. Capt. Citrus also had wrist bands, bandaids, and a word puzzle sheet. As usual, lots of brochures and maps were inside, available for us adults, as well as the opportunity to purchase a Sun Pass to save on tolls. In addition to the yellow dolphin out front, their is a place inside to pose with an astronaut. We saw families taking advantage of these photo opportunities. The bathrooms are outside, open 24/7, on both sides of the welcome center. Last time we were here, 2 months ago, soap was only in every third dispenser. This time, they were all full. Also outside are more maps and informational brochures. The area is landscaped beautifully, so take time to walk around.

Welcome to Florida just after you cross over from Georgia on I-75 southbound. This rest area and welcome center is the first experience you'll have in the Sunshine State and they're doing a solid job here. This is a large welcome center with lots of space for passengers, not as much for trucks - maybe only 25 of them. Tourist info to be picked up and if you don't have a SunPass or supported transponder, you can purchase one here. You'll need this for the unavoidable tolls that are just about everywhere in Florida and many of them do not accept cash! Vending machines, clean restrooms, parking to get a quick nap before continuing southward into Florida. [Review 16717 overall - 1445 in Florida - 229 of 2022.]

We've passed this Welcome Center so many times, but were always in too much of a hurry to stop. So today we decided it was time to stop. When we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly staff member who asked us if we wanted orange or grapefruit juice to drink. The grapefruit was as delicious as I've ever had. They also have brochures for places to visit. They have one for almost any location in the state as well as maps for each area. The bathrooms are spotless as is the entire outdoor area.

Florida Welcome Center on I-75 is along the lines of other typical welcome center/rest areas. It is decently maintained, there are several tables under pavilions and adequate parking. If you need to get out and stretch your legs a bit, there are worse places to do it.

Nice and clean but the woman work I g there was a miserable person. Would not smile at all, asked for a map and she tossed it at us. It's a welcome center of you don't like working here lady, get another job!!

They are doing an excellent job at this welcome center. You are not allowed in the building where all of the information is available so they have an employee available to assist every person in need. Gift bags are given out with basic information on Florida and if you would like specific information on a certain area they will collect all of the brochures needed and add them to your bag. The best part is that 100 percent cotton face masks are included in each bag. It comes in a package of five and they will add additional masks if your family needs them. The bathrooms and picnic areas are open.

Very nice and clean, but the hours of operation need to be expanded. Closing the welcome center at five seems shortsighted to me. I have always felt that a stop here was our official welcome to the Sunshine.

The first stop in Florida for information on anything tourism. Open seven days a week from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Providing information on tourist destinations, maps, brochures, and any other questions a tourist may have regarding their visit to the Sunshine State. Sun Pass is available for purchase to use on toll roads, and you can even get a free cup of orange juice. All right, the size of the orange juice cup is about the size of a shot glass, but it is free. Depending on whether orange juice is available. Rest rooms are open twenty-four hours, and there are vending machines available for purchasing drinks and snacks. There is also a Welcome to Florida sign available for photo ops. You can take a photo for when you and your family arrive after a long drive to the Sunshine State. "**** it, Jimmy! Will you stop making faces and hold still for the camera!" And you can then send that photo to friends in states where the temperature is just above freezing. "And **** it, Jimmy! Quit picking on your sister!" The restrooms are always kept clean, and there are receptacles for trash and recycling. And believe me, these restrooms are kept much cleaner that at some of gas stations/fast food restaurants that are just off the exit. The grounds are kept clean, and there is plenty of space available for walking the dog. A much welcome facility for travelers coming to the state. Whether you are a tourist or coming home.

A great place to stop when arriving in Florida This site is located along the west side of I-75 about 1/2 mile after entering Florida from Georgia. The front is one of the prettiest I have seen for any Florida stop. It is a broad glass front facing the car parking lot and I-75. It is somewhat typical of other Florida rest-stops in that it has the easy-off, easy-on exit off the side (not the center) of the road. There is plenty of parking. Truck parking and car parking are separate. Truck parking is to the right as you exit and car parking is to the left and has oversized spots. The restrooms are on the north side of the building connected by a covered walkway to the main building. The main building has a large display for Disney, currently celebrating its 50th anniversary. There are also alcoves for brochures from different Florida areas like northeast, northwest, central, and statewide. They normally offer free orange juice but the line was too long when we arrived. Outside they have a Florida Welcomes you sign that you can stand under for photos. The area was clean although busy but I would recommend it as a first stop in the state.

Nobody does Welcome Centers like the State of Florida. That's the plain truth. My main concern was getting a map, and the State of Florida provided me with an excellent one, absolutely free, and happily presented. The restrooms were clean, the snack bar was well stocked. Oh, they do it right !
