First time attending this event and it was great. 5 hours of walking and my feet were killing me. Tip: wear comfortable shoes. Lots of items to buy so bring lots of money. You also have opportunity to take photos with celebrities. There are saber fights shows, plenty to see and don't worry there are food vendors inside as well. Fun for the whole family.

This was my first Con ever. The atmosphere was great. I had so much fun. Felt like a kid in a candy store. I'm going next year. I loved everything except the food. Got an overpriced Philly cheese steak for 18$. It was very underwhelming. Took a bite and threw it away.

What do you get when you mix comic books, anime, cosplay, animation, sci-fi, fantasy, video games, and crazy awesome fans for four days of non-stop insanity?! Florida Supercon!! Blistering heat or not, cosplayers and fanatics from all over flocked to the Miami Airport Convention Center for what has to be the biggest geek convention in Florida. The main exhibition room is huge and was packed with amazing art, writers, actors, vendors, and just so much stuff! Too much stuff and my pockets just aren't deep enough!! There was definitely something for everyone. In most cases it was much more than one something. The east wing had a stage where they were holding panel discussions and Q&A's with some of today's most popular TV shows like the cast of Adventure Time and Kevin Smith from Comic Book Men. The event was so huge that they even had ballrooms at the Double Tree Hotel in use for live music from local bands and an arcade/PC gaming room as well which was open until 3am all four days. It was madness! I had a great time taking pictures with all the cosplayers and even getting stopped a few times myself for pics of my Optimus Prime rendition. What a great way to spend the weekend with friends and to meet others with similar interests. I had so many pleasant conversations with artists and you can really delve into this culture. With everything said, I have attended my first Supercon, survived, and can proudly wear my geek badge! What did you do this weekend?

Did. Not. Enjoy. This con has grown to gargantuan proportions. However the staffing and know-how necessary to run a large convention has not kept pace. Waited outside in the heat for over an hour to get inside. There was not nearly enough staff outside directing traffic. Some lines were pretty short, but no one knew why. Was that a Will-call line? You didn't want to lose your spot to go find out. Other people just started making secondary lines and cutting in. Once you paid your money and got inside the AC it was pretty cluttered. People were everywhere in the lobby, which is traditional of comic cons. However, the convention halls were just the same. There was barely enough room to walk around in places. You were swept up in the sea of bodies moving and just had to go with the flow. The celebrity sections were equally short-staffed and without proper signage. The only sign that was prevalent was the large No Camera sign that tried to prevent people from taking pictures. Add to that the long entryway to get to the celebrities and it made for a lonely time for the famous. The ones who were actually at their booth and not super popular were just sitting by themselves. I can sorta/kinda understand that you don't want people taking pictures without paying; however if you rope them off like that it makes it hard to even interact. And cons are also about meeting the celebs too. At least they should be. I love Billy Dee Williams but in order to get within earshot, I have to shell out 50 bucks for him to lean over and take a selfie with me? I don't love you that much Lando! I really wanted to meet Nichelle Nichols. We found her booth, but she was never there during the 4 hours we were there. No sign saying she would be back at a certain time or even that she was done for the day. Just... nothing. Empty booth. Crickets. The smaller cons may not be run any better, but they don't need to be. Mo people, mo problems. With 10's of thousands of humans crammed into a venue, I'd hoped to see more organization and people walking around with headsets and keeping the enjoyment level higher. Seems like once they got our 35.00 they were onto the next people at the ticket booth. Jason Mewes' talk was the highlight of Saturday for me. raunchy, funny, engaging. Don't think I will go back though. Will stick to the smaller cons for now.

Won a pair of tickets on a Yelp "talk" giveaway! My husband, daughter, and I, had a fantastic time at this weekend's event. HIGHLIGHT: meeting power ranger, Brandon Mclaren, who also takes part in my current favorite show, Graceland. We enjoyed walking around, seeing all the costumes people put together! My 3.5 year old was in awe, as she stood next to Some of her favorite characters. We will be returning to future supercons! The art, the art was fantastic! ended up purchasing a beauty and the beast acrylic piece. Took my breath away, the way the artists could do such beautiful work, many right on the spot! Huge thanks to Yelp, for allowing us to enjoy this treat, today!

This is my first con I have been to in Miami and I mostly went to Anime Expo (since 2003!!!), San Diego Comic Con and Saboten in AZ. 1. Parking: It was easy to get. I parked across the street for $15. They also did valet for $15. 2. Exhibit Hall: They had a good mixture of sci fi, anime, super heroes, tv shows. All which are decently priced. There were some weird things that I never seen at a con before like vape and weird massage things. These things have nothing to do with the geekiness of a con. There is also a lack of free stuff. I did get a sample of Coke and Nesquick though. 3. Artist Alley: Everyone was very nice and all artwork is beautiful. There is however a lack on crafts itself. Mostly posters. However, there are a variety of things from Vocaloid to Doctor Who. 4. Panels/Q&A: This was by far what I am most surprised with. Usually popular guests such as Karen Gillan, the 8th doctor and the master would have long lines which we would have to wait forever in. There was no wait at all. It was an open floor plan for the main events stage. It was nice to be able not to wait for hours or so just to see your favorite stars (talking to you Comic Con). 5. Cosplay: Now I went on Sat/Sun and I thought the Cosplay was lacking especially in Masquerade. Usually in Masquerade and Costume Competitions, people would show off their cosplays that they have worked so hard on. However, the costume competition was underwhelming this year and the masquerade it was more like a talent show with singing, playing instruments with some acts with no cosplay. It was quite disappointing. The cosplay around walking, some were pretty decent and overall, people had a lot of fun and that is what counts. This is a smaller con than the ones I have gone before, but it was the least stressful which makes it a better environment to have fun. I cannot wait to go next year.

I love the Florida supercon! It was my first convention and will always remain my favorite. Every year is a new experience with new vendors and amazing items!

I lost Exscalibur's business card. Can anyone help me find his IG?

The chef lineup looked incredible, and after having an amazing experience at Burger Bash (with early admission), we were genuinely excited. Unfortunately, this event was the complete opposite. Not only was it more expensive, but it was extremely overcrowded. It was shoulder-to-shoulder the entire time, making it difficult to move, enjoy the atmosphere, or even hear anyone speak. The lines were unbelievably long, and it was nearly impossible to tell where they began or ended -- only to finally reach the front and receive a very small bite of food. There also needs to be serious consideration around sound and entertainment. The event had both a DJ and a live band, and it was way too loud -- you could barely have a conversation. The band, unfortunately, wasn't great and felt overpowering and obnoxious at times. The DJ was much better and played far better music; the overall vibe would have been much more enjoyable sticking with just that. There really needs to be a ticket capacity limit to ensure guest satisfaction. Overselling the event completely took away from what could have been an incredible experience. The organization and overall flow just weren't there. After 45 minutes of frustration and barely tasting anything, we decided to leave and went to Pizza Bar around the corner just to actually get something to eat. The only highlight of the night was spotting Rev Run walking in -- which ended up being the most memorable part of the experience. Burger Bash truly felt like the main event in comparison. We won't be returning to this one. Burger Bash from now on.

I feel like some of the food they had at this event was not their best. The standouts for me were the shrimp ceviche from Suviche and salmon and rice from Temple Street Eatery. These were excellent. Rusty Pelican won the big award. Their dish was tasty. It was ribeye and shrimp I believe. (No sign describing the dish on table) I wanted to try the lobster salad from Catch and Cut but they were about to go on stage for the competition when I went by twice. Other restaurants were just ok. I enjoyed the Hendrick's gin drinks. Blacklane had a nice lounge with champagne. All in all, this event is nice because it is food, drinks and music on the beach at night. It was a nice, breezy evening, so that made it even nicer. But if I break it down on most of the food food and even most of the drinks, it is just ok. I expected real high quality seafood and it just didn't cut it for me. Seafood Slam was during the day and it got hot! This event was pretty similar in terms of quality of food and drinks. Nothing bad but nothing to write home about. I think I preferred the Chef Showdown compared to the Seafood Slam.

I look forward to this festival every year and am so glad I was able to make it this weekend.

I attended the very first one of these parades a decade ago, and have been to I believe every one since! This year was bigger and better than ever! The parade itself was longer, lasting about 1 1/2 hours, they actually paced the parade along very well this year, avoiding the up to 5 minute gaps a few times per parade that have plagued it in years' past, and the expo and performance stages on the beach were better than I remember them being as well. The crowds have definitely grown, from an estimated 50,000 attendees when this Pride festival was just getting started, to an estimated 135,000 this year. The 2018 grand marshal was Olympic freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy. He made headlines a few months ago by sharing a kiss with his partner on worldwide TV following one of his Olympic runs..And his family/friends could usually be spotted at the bottom of the mountain waving rainbow flags and cheering him on. He was lots of fun, made a speech at the main stage after the parade, took a selfie with the crowd and body surfed through the crowd of people, all while shooting video for social media. While this event is definitely 5 star worthy and I'm sure it's a monumental task to execute with lots of people and an incredible amount of organization and planning to bring it all together, I'd have 3 suggestions on improvements: 1) Consider moving it back to Saturday. The first parade I attended was on a Saturday afternoon and it was great! People could stick around all day, go to Twist and Palace until late that night and take Sunday to recover. At some point, the parade was moved to Sunday; from what I understand it was done to attract more families to attend. In my experience, it actually cuts back on the fun! People who are out late on Saturday night don't feel like getting up and being in place along Ocean Drive in the hot sun at high noon for a parade. Likewise, people tend to curtail their activities on Sunday since many need to be at work on Monday AM. 2) Make the "expo area" on the beach larger and more spread out to accommodate the crowds. Seriously, this year, especially after the parade first ended, it was madness for the first hour to simply try and make your way from the stage at one far end to the other. 3) Set up both stages exactly the same. The main stage had a large sun shade over the crowd, large, inflated decorations above the audience's heads, beach balls being bounced throughout the crowd, and pretty spectacular lighting and video shows with other effects going well into the night. Meanwhile at the other stage where mostly Latin bars/clubs were represented and Latin groups performing, there was no sun shade, just a few lights, no video wall with graphics, no smoke system, etc. It kind of felt like one stage was over the top and the planners of this event went all out for it, while the other stage where the Latin crowd was relegated to was treated like the low budget step child. That said, the attendees at both were equally energetic and the place was still full when they finally shut down that night.
