Good shop if you can get in it. Don't call on the phone because one person will put you on hold and after about 5 minutes someone else will come on and put you on hold again for about 5 minutes. After three holds I gave up. That is why I buy guns somewhere else and have them shipped to this place. If I could talk with someone I might buy from them but who knows if that will ever happen. I went into this store to look at a 1911 to purchase within a few weeks. After circling the store a few times i finally found one that caught my eye after standing in the same spot for close to half an hour and asking multiple people to view a specific gun one finally stoped to let me see the gun. Instead of explaining how everything worked with it or convorsating, the associate just stood there waiting for me to finish looking at it as soon as i was finished he put it back in the case and zipped off. I would have liked to see another gun but i didnt have another half hour to sit around and wait. I would give one star only but they do have a pretty nice inventory. Not quite sure why all the negatives. I went in looking for a new 9mm. Ended up with a nice .45. Was greeted by the manager Adam and felt very comfortable speaking with him. The guys at Florida Gun Exchange are some of the nicest most professional guys you'll meet in the gun business and and especially at a gun store. They helped me with an ffl trade that ended up being a BAD gun and it needed to be shipped back. Jamie the gun smith tried to fix the gun, but couldn't (and there were other factors), and he didn't charge me anything!! I've worked with Chris, Bobby, Alex and they all were polite and did their best to inform me on any questions I had. Most importantly, if they didn't know the answer to something they didn't have the huge egos most gun shop guys do to just lie to you, instead, they ask somebody. I've torn apart gun shops in person and on yelp. These guys are solid. Very few shops consistently are. Selling guns give owners the impression that they're entitled to be rude and snappy when speaking to customers, these guys don't do this. Totally recommended. There are A LOT of gun stores in Florida. And Florida gun exchange has been around longer than most of them. I have been a customer for the last 15yrs. I've watched them grow from a small local shop to the amazing masterpiece they run today. The customer service has always been top notch, even from the early days. Its obviously something that was a key to their success, and is still a top priority. These are gun guys...not the blast away type, but rather the kind with an intense appreciation for the value of firearms in our lives, and the need for them...in hunting, target shooting, and most importantly self protection of ourselves and loved ones. They really get it. And so do their employees. It's a great place to visit and look around, but you'll just as likely get caught up in a great and informative conversation and I guarantee you won't leave without learning something new. And BTW, they are intensely aware of all laws and regulations of gun ownership, and take this very seriously in the way they manage sales. I saw one couple come in, the man wanting to buy a gun, and then the girl said something that gave the salesman pause as to whether the man could legally own the firearm, and even before the paperwork was started, they were told the sale could not continue. I have had no issues or bad experiences in my dealings with them. They have a broad selection of firearms, knives and accessories. Purchased a Anderson Manufacturing lower parts kit today, among several other items, from Florida Gun Exchange (FGE). Upon opening the box containing the parts kit I noticed it was missing the trigger and hammer assembly which the parts included list on the side of the box stated it was included. I drove back to to FGE and was told " the triggers don't come in the kit. We get them that way because everyone buys a drop in trigger assembly." I directed the guy behind the counter to look at the side of the box where it specifically states the trigger and hammer are included. FGE told me it's not their problem that the box says that and I had to purchase their other kit. Now it's not the cost that upsets me. It was a $20.00 difference. What upset me were 2 things. 1st was the false advertisement on the package. The 2nd was when I contacted Anderson Manufacturing they stated they ship the exact parts kit I initially purchased to FGE with all the parts listed on the box. Horrible customer service. Gun exchange in port orange as well as this new location do not like young adults. Im in my thirties was with my girlfriend who is in her twenties but we both look very young. Not one person asked us if we needed help. We went through 4 sales people before we found a guy who was knowledgable. We were interested in the springfield XDM for HER CCW gun..i compete in two gun competition and one salesman was explaining things from a no experience background.instead of asking what we were looking for, he was explaining features to me of guns we expressed we were not there to see. He talked to me and ignored HER. The gun was for her, she already shot it and others and wanted the XDM. All we needed was a salesperson who would be quiet and listen, then i wanted a p14/45 para as well. Well long story short we finally got a nicer guy but after first sales person took a married couple who had on alot of jewelery (chasing his commision). He ignored us. I had $2500 in my pocket cash. I ended up buying from tristan at cavellas down the road. Tristan is extremely passionate and the prices are great. The atmosphere in Cavellas is very relaxed. I bought springfield and brand new BUSHMASTER ar15 carbine. CAVELLAS on us1 gets my vote, just go there and ask for TRISTAN.. Gun exchange reminds me of WALMART w jerky sale people. Their prices are AWESOME but ya know what ill pay % more to have great customer service! read more

Only reason I'm giving two stars is because they do have a very nice store and a great selection of firearms. Recently, at their Ormond Beach store, I purchased a S&W M&P M2.0 9mm and was waiting on my friend to checkout. While I was waiting, I noticed a CZ 805 Bren hanging on the wall and a salesman sitting right in front of it reading a magazine. This is not an inexpensive weapon and I was actually interested in purchasing it. I asked the salesman about three questions about the rifle and he would only give me one word answers without ever looking up from the magazine he was reading. Needless to say I lost interest in trying to pursue the purchase. Business must be good if you can afford to treat your customers like that. Nice store but poor customer service. read more

I used to love coming here but not anymore. The last two times I've been here has been so shitty. Here's a tip FGE when a customer calls don't feed him bullshit just so you can get off the phone to close up shop. I called the day before and asked for a SPECIFIC firearm. The clerk on the phone told me they have over 200 in stock and ready to sell at $419. So I drove my happy ass to Ormand beach from Orlando the next day only to find out non of that bullshit was true. The gun was NOT in stock in the certain caliber I was looking for. The price was from another model completely different than the one i was looking for. So either the guy didn't give a shit on the phone or they use that as a tactic to lure people in to sell them other shit. I even asked to put one on hold so i could just run in and pay and the guy on the phone refused and said "nah we got plenty of them don't worry". the manager was polite yet did very little to compensate for my situation. The manager tried to sell me another caliber of the gun I was looking for at a $15 discount to get the price down to $464 which is "at cost", and that was the lowest he can go. Well guess what.. I've purchased the same gun at $368 in your store so don't bullshit repeat customers. The most annoying part was the manager acted like the entire situation i was in was my fault. Every detail i gave him he had a rebuttal for me. Dude your employee fucked up just own it and take care of the customer! I went to Shoot Straight Apopka the next day and bought the gun i wanted at $400. read more

This was my first time going to Florida Gun Exchange. I was extremely pleased. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Not pushy at all like you find at some gun stores. Devin went above and beyond to make sure to find exactly what I wanted and was extremely professional. I walked around the store for 15 minutes with my son, without a single person asking if I needed assistance. Finally, I got the attention of a young girl, maybe 20 or so, who had no idea where I could find a rear sight for my DPMS .223 - she passed me off to another kid - a guy this time - who acted pissed off that he had to show someone where the sights were (in the end case in a 20" x 24" area, max) - until he saw that I was the one standing there - Only then did he act even a little pleasant, but still very impatient. I dont care how big the selection is or how good the prices are - I'll find what I need elsewhere. P.S. - they almost NEVER have .223 ammo in stock and it's always high. Watched several customers walk out because they waited 45+mins with no acknowledgement from staff...you are losing business. You may be the biggest player in town, but you could be selling a lot more if you would implement a process to ensure customers are helped in a timely fashion. Only 5 ppl working here and oh let's say 50 plus ppl waiting to look at guns. Been waiting to see someone for over 30 minutes. Great selection, but as a woman walking into a gun store, I was not treated well. The man who helped me spoke to me in a slow sarcastic tone as if I spoke in a different language. I was treated like a child until I signed up for the concealed carry class and had to give my number. His tone changed after he seen I was carrying two phones and then he accused me of being a drug dealer. He continued to ask if my phone was a boost mobile. I said no it's Verizon and he dropped it. I was very uncomfortable but I stayed and asked the questions that I had with much regret because he answered them with a cocky attitude like I should know the answer already. I practically ran out of the store. I didn't even stay to look around which is a shame because it's a cool place. I can't speak for all employees but this guy did not make me feel comfortable. I was also alone. I think if I had a man holding my hand I would have been treated much different. however I will not be going back. Been to FL Gun Exchange several times. It is always a busy place and hard to find someone to help me, but when I do finally get someone that was freed up, they are very helpful and polite. FGE is about 35 miles from my house. So last weekend before driving all the way there to see if they had some .44 Mag 50 round target ammo. I called and asked if they had any. A young lady was helping me on the phone and said that they had some. I told her that I would be there in about 45 minutes to buy it. When I arrived the first person I found was a young lady and after I heard her voice I knew that it was the same person that I spoke to on the phone. I told her that I was here to pick up the .44 mag ammo that I called about. She said that they just sold out of it. I told her that I thought that she was holding it for me. She said that we didn't discuss her holding it. She found two boxes of .44 special 20 round hollow points. I told her if she would make the price equal to the .44 mag/50 round boxes that I would buy them. She said that she couldn't do it. So I laid my targets that I had in my hand down on the counter and started to walk out. Before I got to the door, I decided to find a manager. I asked an employee to locate one for me. He said here comes one now. He was actually coming to find me because the lady helping me went to him and told him what had happened. He introduced himself as Adam and said that he wanted to try to resolve the conflict. I told him that I just drove 35 miles to buy some ammo that I thought was being held for me. He said that he would give me his best price on the 2 boxes of .44 specials that he had, a free t-shirt and give me the targets that I laid back down for free. He shook my hand and went to look up the price of the ammo. When he came back he gave me $10 off per box plus the freebies. I also bought a Pachmayr rubber grip while I was there. It's nice to see that some businesses will still go out of their way to make things right, even though it wasn't really their fault,, it was a misunderstanding between me and the lady on the phone. I've been into Florida Gun Exchange a few times, but this time I was looking to walk out with my newest purchase. I had a short list of different firearms that I wanted to look at and get a feel for before I made my final decision. Chris helped me out tremendously! He took me around the store and showed me everything from shotguns to hunting rifles to handguns. With each item on my list, he spent the time to go over every thing that I needed to know about that specific firearm and helped me figure out which was the best for me and what I was specifically looking for at the time. The best part is that he was honest and never once tried to sell me something I didn't want. He knew what he was talking about and it really showed. BAD FIRST GUN PURCHASE EXPERIENCE. I feel as a woman I wasn't given accurate information for my purchase. This was my very first gun and I spent over $400 for a 38 special. The staff person that sold me the gun told me they didn't receive cases that fit for this particular gun. So I have a case that wasn't designed for my "new" gun that doesn't fit into the little sleeve securely. I have to put the gun into the case loosely at an angle and then zip it up. I was told by a gentleman friend that all of his guns he's ever purchased from various locations have a case designed for the gun. Needless to say, I feel like I was taken advantage of as a lady not knowledgeable regarding gun purchases. I don't think my gun was new, though I paid a new price and feel like maybe someone probably exchanged it without the case and I ended up with a bad first gun purchase experience.
