When I lived in the 400 North apartments I regularly saw them from my porch camping in the shadows watching stop signs, just waiting for people to slip up. They genuinely have nothing better to do with their time. Overfunded department with a huge incentive for collecting revenue through tickets. Go fight some real crime . If your car is over 15 years old and has any sorts of dents or cosmetic damage, or just doesn't look the best, expect an officer to tailgate you through the entire town, and probably pull you over for some bs. Most of these officers have nothing better to do with their time than harass people doing nothing wrong. Despite all this, shoutout to Officer Andrews. I see this guy at the 7/11 on and 17/92 and Sybelia grabbing snacks a lot. He's always nice, genuinely a good guy. He even helped me with my car on new year's eve at 2am (i guess technically new year's day). He saw me and offered to help. Had a casual conversation about our nights and how he was getting a lot of calls for gunshots (they were just fireworks it was new year's eve). He didn't ask me any questions, like where I'd been or where I was coming from. He didn't try to figure out if I was intoxicated or if I was doing something wrong. ( I dont drink and was completely sober). He didn't even mention my tint is too dark or anything of the sorts. He simply wanted to give me a hand to help. Officer Andrews you are the only reason i'm even giving this review a single star. The community needs more people like him and less revenue chasing, harassing, fishing jerks. Even though most of the instances in which i've been pulled over by mpd were for stupid reasons, especially the tail light one considering my tailights weren't out, almost every officer was nice, or at least pretending to be. They still will shine their flashlights all over the inside of your car and fish for whatever they can, but most of them are decently nice. Not all cops are bad but as I said before this department has a problem with harassment and is way overfunded and revenue incentivized.

On August 19, my mother was in the established line of vehicles picking up children when Deputy ID #2464 pulled her out of the line and issued her a $166 citation. Another woman directly in front of her was also pulled out and cited, while numerous other vehicles participating in the same pickup traffic were allowed to continue. We understand and support traffic enforcement, especially around schools where children's safety is extremely important. Our concern is that enforcement should be clear, fair, and consistent for everyone. If vehicles participating in the school pickup line are violating a traffic law, parents and grandparents should be given clear direction and the rule should be enforced consistently--not against only a few vehicles while others in the same situation continue through the line. We will also be bringing our concerns regarding this incident and Deputy #2464 to the appropriate supervisor through the Sheriff's Office.

A police force full of Barney Fifes. Our car was totaled. We bought a new car on 8/24/2026 and the…read moredealership gave us a temporary plate. The temp plate expired on 9/22/2026. Even way before that we kept checking with the DMV portal, as it is impossible to talk with anyone at the state level. I did take to someone on the phone at a local DMV office, but was told "We don't handle that here, you need to talk to Tallahassee. There is no waiting cue with the state number. You get through or you don't. All I wanted to know is "WHERE IS MY PLATE? All of this was after the dealership sent the paperwork to Tallahassee for registration. The dealership said "Don't worry about the old plate, Florida will send a new one". We waited, and waiter, and waited constantly checking the mail. I called the dealership this past Friday and said I need a new temporary plate overnighted as the old one is expired waiting for the permanent one. I got stopped by one of your people on Orange Ave. this morning on my way to the doctor's office. After about 20 minutes, he comes back with a $114 ticket, saying I was driving on an expired plate with no registration. I SHOWED HIM the state has the information, and then he showed me the plate number that was assigned to my new car. I said, "That's my old plate number". The dealership marked that our old plate would be transferred to the new car, but that's NOT WHAT THEY TOLD ME! I congratulated Barney on being the first "officer" to EVER stop me in the State of Florida after moving here 25 years ago. NOW I have to go fix this situation, which will take an entire day at two offices to get this nullified.
