Went to the store to have my chain for my Ryobi chain saw sharpened. They said it would be ready in several days. They called me when it was ready. I paid for the sharpening as I have picked my chain up from the store. Several months ago, I had thought the chain was already sharpened when I had paid for the sharpening. Today, I have a tree limb that had fallen and discovered by surprise that the chain saw blade was never sharpened. It took me 25 minutes just to get thru a 5" diameter log. The saw is still very dull. It is probably too late for a refund because I should have tested it the day I have picked it up at the Florence Ace Hardware Store in Kentucky. Very bad service. The employees at this store had lied by saying that it was sharpened when they did not do a tiny bit of work sharpening my saw. This is consumer fraud. I am not ever going back to this store again. Ace Hardware in Florence is friendly and helpful. LOVE having a place I can just bop into and get most of what I need. It is rare that you go into a store with " ideas" and come out with results because someone was willing to take the time to help you figure out what you need. Florence Ace does that. Pete and others have helped me more then once. One suggestion get packages of torque head screws. I love that we can buy one or two of something. That is helpful for me with my DIY projects. After many years, our local Ace has lost our family's business. Our family has been very longtime, loyal customers...we go out of our way to shop at Ace instead of the big box stores. We believe strongly in supporting local businesses. Sadly, our local Ace doesn't care about the health and safety of their customers, apparently. They are more interested in political grandstanding. When we were there yesterday, not a single one of the five employees on shift was wearing a mask (even though it's state law). I asked the cashier why they had quit wearing masks when our infection rates are now at record highs and he just shrugged. I told him it made me feel unsafe shopping there, especially since we take care of several elderly family members. He said if I didn't like it I could do curbside pick up instead. No joke. So I guess Ace doesn't want our business. We might as well order from Amazon like everyone else. Really disgusted at the rudeness, apathy, and callousness of those employees after all the money we've spent there over the years. So much for the "friendly place"! read more

The store is fairly small, but they usually have what I need. What's more, none of the employees ever bust my balls about not wearing a mask, because they aren't scared of catching the Chinese sniffles and aren't going to bully other people into doing something that makes no scientific or logical sense. Also, the employees are just generally friendly and helpful. Love this place. Me and my family and my coworkers all shop here and will continue to. read more

I like to keep my business local as much as possible so even though I know this store is quite a bit more expensive than other stores, I still like to patronize them. Usually I get great customer service. Today I met Tim who helped me pick inner tubes for my wheelbarrows this morning. Unfortunately, one of the tires had a pin prick hole in it that we found an hour after we replaced the old one. So back I went and Tim was still there. I explained what I'd found and went to get a replacement. Tim walked around the store with the old tire apparently trying to find the hole. When I got back to the counter, he approached, put the old tire on the counter, opened the new box and said, "This is what a new tire looks like. Does this (gesturing to my return) look like a new tire to you?" EXCUSE ME?! I said, "I'm not lying and I resent you making me feel like I am." He said, "Ok" and walked away. I. Am. FURIOUS! Almost immediately upon initiating my return I got the feeling he didn't believe me. He became curt and abrupt and when I asked another question was borderline rude. For a supposedly hassle free return policy, I must say I felt not only hassled but personally maligned. I am seriously considering driving the extra 10 minutes to Stevensville to prove a point. I went into this local Ace Hardware and it was nice to go to a home improvement store where customer service is so important. They have an older new guy named Rick who really knows painting. He gave me some great tips and hints that were spot on. Thanks Rick at Florence Ave Hardware! read more
