Eel Lake is in the William M.Tugman State Park. It is also the deepest lake in the chain of lakes along the Oregon Coast and is approximately 355 total acres. Wonderful fishing opportunities here with large mouth black bass, crappie, rainbow trout, steelhead, and co-ho salmon. Other water activities include swimming, canoeing, kyacking, sailing, and boating. There is also a 6 mile moderate trail ( Eel Lake Trail) that will take you along the beautiful Lake where you may encounter deers, and even be lucky enough to see an eagle. Enjoy !

Oregon Fish Reports says Ben Irving Reservoir has Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, Black Crappie, Bluegill, White Crappie. It is said they also have bluegill and yellow perch. I'm not sure they stock trout since the water gets so low. There are two day use sites. The first is a picnic area with restrooms, picnic tables, swimming and volleyball. The second is the largest, which is at the end of the road in, with a restrooms, boat ramp, dock, picnic tables, grills for and rest rooms. The reservoir is beautiful and peaceful place to go. It's scary how fast the water goes down once the rains stop. It's a reservoir where water from the area is held for irrigation and municipal uses and to enhance stream conditions to support fish in the streams. Everyone needs to do better to keep this reservoir from getting so low by saving

The area has quite a few communities beyond the namesake Coos Bay, including North Bend, Cooston, North Bay, and others including Charleston. Charleston is a set of rolling highlands that separate Coos Bay from the ocean. So if you want ocean, go West! There you will find state beaches and the Bastendorff Park of Coos County. There is an overlook of the beach, down the cliff. To get to the beach, walk back down the road. There is a children's play structure, parking and a grassy area at the overlook. Continue up the hill for RV-type camp spots with water and power hookups and a bathroom structure. The individual camping areas are shaded, and carved from the brush, providing some privacy from adjacent campers. The group area is at the top of the hill and largely unshaded, grass covered and sunny when it's clear. Though there is not a view of the ocean from there or any of the camping spots, it can be heard. It's the gem of the park camping areas, with its own bathroom shower structure, clean and with a huge supply of hot water. There is also an electric cooktop, sink and kitchen counter under a roof with picnic tables for your group. Each camping spot has a fire grate, but bring your own cooking grate with a finer mesh to hold whatever you are grilling. Great and unobtrusive park staff. We had a great get-together here to honor a local fisherman friend lost at sea with 3 generations of families participating, from up and down the Western states, Coos style. We are all Oregonians. As a Portlander I honor all the people all over the state. I understand that they cut trees, graze cattle, grow crops, mine, fish, hopefully over the long term. We are all in it together. I like to support the small businesses when I get a chance to visit too. Like in Coos where fishing has had some tough times with the closure of the Sacramento River salmon seasons and some slim fish runs for the Klamath basin. Sounds like those fish are back strong this year. So thinking of all you in Coos, and encourage Yelpers to visit the Southern Oregon Coast and the small towns supporting its awesome oceanfront!

Everyone was super…read morefriendly and my husband and I enjoyed watching from the protected deck which was a nice sunny spot that gave a nice reprieve from the wind. It's about a 5-10 min walk from parking to the school so be sure to give yourself a little time if meeting them for a lesson. Also, it was bit hard to get ahold of them to schedule lessons, but they are generally organized once you make contact and well worth the time.

Awesome grass area where kids from all camps played soccer and other sports. Very clean park. Store was great where we rented boats and kayaks that the kids loved with making many memories to remember. Vince and Shannon were amazing camp hosts and we loved getting to know them! If you're looking for a quiet but fun place to stay in RV, rent a cabin or sleep in a tent which we also did for a night... this is the place!!!! Hats off to Lake Selmac and Shannon and Vince for welcoming our crazy RV group and taking such good care of us! We will be sure to return!

They don't allow motorized boats, but we spotted a couple of kayaks floating by, with the occupant casting a fishing line out. Beautiful scenery with well maintained, mostly shaded, asphalt trails. Very peaceful & the people we did see on the trail were polite & cordial.

Spots to fish and BBQ, launch non-motorized boats - great park! But unfortunately, it's frequently a camping spot for transients. And while not all transients are bad, we have experienced some that are on drugs, yelling, riding bikes at uncomfortably fast speeds, or just spitting and yelling at passersby. There was even a blunt sitting on an empty park bench. Which, shouldn't be an issue as marijuana is legal in this state, however, not only would someone not know what it's laced with, there are frequently children walking in that park and might come across it. If I didn't have my two dogs and my protector husband with me, you wouldn't catch me alone in that park ever. But with my bodyguards and always being alert and choosing my path wisely, I have some of the most amazing walks there!

There are two boat ramps-one on each side of the long dock where you can launch a boat. There are also places to hang on the bank and get into the water without a boat. It's a beautiful reservoir with pine and deciduous trees along the bank. A perfect place to spend a day on the water.
