I had the bagel with carrot lox and the vegan, gluten free berry pancake. The pancake was an 8.5/10. Very tasty and sauce heavy but the texture and flavors all went together very well. I'm not a huge fan of coconut shavings or that amount of sauce but it was still pretty good and I'd eat it again. The bagel with carrot lox 6.5/10. It was a little too extra and could've been a little more simplified. The flavors did a lot of competing so it was hard to really appreciate the true essence of the meal. I wandered into Flora Jean's this past Sunday for brunch after missing the rooftop brunch at the Hilton. My spouse and I saw people walking happily into Flora Jean's and decided to give it a try. Upon entry, the restaurant had a fun, vibrant atmosphere almost styled in a rustic or vintage glamour. I immediately liked the vibe so we stayed. With a lot of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options, the menu was innovative and refreshing for the LR brunch scene! We ordered pineapple & watermelon mimosas and talked through our entree options. There were so many things to choose from, try, and taste that all sounded so yummy. I opted for the peach pancakes and bae had the farmers breakfast. Our waiter was helpful and attentive. He had a friendly presence with a bit of whimsy like a mad scientist when he offered us chlorophyll in our water. I could barely taste it so I was happy we went ahead and got it. The green water looked quite interesting but still pleasing. I enjoyed my pancakes quite a bit. They were definitely sweet, decadent, and indulgent, so make sure you are in the mood for that. It was almost like eating peach cobbler for breakfast. But I liked that even though the pancakes tasted like honey, the pancakes didn't make me feel heavy after eating them. My spouse enjoyed the farmers breakfast but I didn't try much of it besides the biscuit--which I really loved. The biggest downfall was toward the end of our meal when an ant climbed out of my spouses fruit bowl on her plate. She had eaten nearly all of her food already. Walked in on a rainy weekday morning to a friendly smiling face. Our server greeted us and kindly explained the menu to us since it was our first visit. They have a super cute coffee bar and delicious homemade pastries in the case. The ambiance is fantastic!!! We ordered a dirty mushroom chai (chai with a shot of espresso) and the pineapple juice. Love this place! It is beautiful! The service has been great both time we were there. The food is pretty delicious. It's different for sure but tasty. We had their vegan quesadillas and those were super yummy. The biscuits were a little dry but the jam was amazing. The potatoes were great. Their lattes are always delicious. I was blown away to see an all plant-based brunch place in Little Rock! I came here with a friend around 10am and was pleasantly surprised to be seated right away. The atmosphere of the restaurant is so cute! So many live plants all around and the garage style windows were up to allow for some air flow. It created a very pleasant environment. The food was amazing! I got the bagel and lox, my friend got the walnut chorizo tacos, and we split wild berry pancakes. I would suggest all of these options! Mixed feelings based on two visits. First visit was pleasant. Second was not because my order was messed up twice and it took over an hour and a half to get a standard menu item. Was told to was a mix up I the kitchen. Staff was apologetic but did not offer to comp it or discount it and I had to take it to go because of the timing. It wasn't so pleased as a take away order and was room temperature when I got to eat it 20 min later. Both visit the food was high quality but bland in taste. Sigh. The interior designer of this vegetarian restaurant created a magical and cozy atmosphere unique to Little Rock. I am a vegetarian who was so excited to explore the menu at this new vegetarian restaurant opening in walking distance from my home. Our server, Audrey was delightful. We started with a beet root and a regular margarita. Both were good but unmemorable. We were famished on arrival and ordered the Eggs Benedict and Kelp Cacio e Pepe. The Eggs Benedict flavors were good but we both struggled to cut through the bacon with our fork and knife. The Kelp Cacio e Pepe is a cold dish that does not have pepper and a very slight cheese flavor. The name Cacio e Pepe translates to cheese and pepper. It was just ok. Eager to find a dish that I loved, I ordered the Blue Jean Biscuit and Mushroom Gravy. This dish was better but not great. My favorite things during this visit were the biscuits (though I would order them as an appetizer with jam), banana ketchup (popular in the Philippines), hot sauce, plating and atmosphere. I really liked Audrey, our server. Her only miss was that she never asked how we liked the food. One of the owners came by as we were wrapping things up and asked how we liked everything. I gave a mixed review and was direct about the bacon to which she replied that maybe they will have to get knives that are more serrated. I know the same owners own @ The Corner Diner which is a beloved downtown spot. Our bill ($119.21 tip included) was higher than the previous day at The Oyster Bar where we had more food and alcohol. Despite the lows of our experience, I loved the atmosphere, server and hope that they will consider making some changes to the menu - and lower the cost. With so few vegetarian spots in Little Rock I am likely to eventually return to try different options. I am rooting for you, Flora Jean's. read more
