This place sucks. T very disorganized, the girls at the front are rude and accommodating. Our kids had a teacher they really liked at the Eastlake location (Hannah) and she quit on a day's notice, so the kids were without a class. When we showed up at the appointed new day they told us, there was no class for the 3 of them and so we left. Unfortunately I paid 2 months dues for 3 kids and I'm stuck. The YMCA is way better. Big pool; most instructors are great but not as punctual as they should be. Fortunately my son had a great instructor who is always on time and doesn't end the lesson early (or start late). She no longer works for Floaties. We paid close to $200 for 2 sessions/week; 30 minute sessions. Time is money so I expect 30 mins of swim. Unfortunately, there have been a few times were I have to remind a substitute instructor that it hasn't been 30 minutes (due to them being late). I had a friend remove her kids due to this issue happening multiple times. Other than that, expect some swim time. Classes are usually full with 3 kids. Your kid will probably get 8 minutes of instructional time at most. Pretty pricey for what it is; my child no longer goes here. read more

My daughter attended here... don't waste your money. Classes are short, each instructor has 3-4 kids at once, they take turns; I should say they are fair taking approximately the same amount of minutes to practice; EXCEPT that when you realize that your child is sharing time that you are paying with 4 other kids, and that your child has to wait, sit on the steps, for the instructor to get back to her/him... it's been already too long for a child (also depending on age) that might and many times, not have the patience to wait for her/his turn. With only so many minutes to learn how to swim; your child may easily take a couple of yrs before they learn how to swim. We took our child out, she gave it more time, and eventually learned how to swim by herself at Dolphin Beach on our free time. read more

My family and I have been Floaties clients for about 6 months now and we couldn't be happier. Both my children are in different swim classes, my oldest is special needs and requires 1:1 swim lessons, he started with Andrea and has been with Marissa for the majority of the time now - both are great. My youngest is in the traditional 3:1 class with Chelsie and he loves that he is able to socialize with other kiddos while learning how to swim. Floaties and team have been so accommodating and have made sure that both my children are having the best time while learning how to swim. Both Marissa and Chelsie have been working closely with the kids to make sure they're meeting milestones and that they are comfortable in the water. Working with kids requires a lot of patience, working with kids on the spectrum requires even more, thanks Marissa you are the best, my son loves working with you. Been taking our boys here for years, and we've been super happy with the progression of their swimming abilities. Our oldest has stopped attending, but is a proficient swimmer now with knowledge of multiple swimming strokes. The staff is always super nice, the facilities are clean, and other parents/students are generally considerate and friendly. I've been trying to get a hold of a manager, but to no avail. I signed up for lessons for my 20-month-old daughter, and was informed that she would be put in classes with kids her age; however, during her first class, she was in a group with a four year old kid. I was also asked to stay in close range just in case my daughter wanted to jump in the pool. I was told that the day of the class as it was happening. I, as a parent, was not equipped to jump in the pool after my daughter. My pants were soaked as I tried to reel in my kid multiple times. I brought my son here for technique lessons. So far instruction has been good by Alma who is amazing at teaching. Had some issues with front desk and Managment. Front desk told me the classes were one hour per class and this is not what my son was given. I spoke to the Manager about this issue so I will see next class how this is handled. If I want an hour I have to go out and check back in and that just seems ridiculous. I don't understand why I can't just have an hour of instruction with no interruptions. Paying extra is not an issue for me, I just want the extra instruction. I was told by the front staff after addressing my problem that what they recommend is 30 min. I can understand 30 min for a toddler but not for an 11 year old. My son has the energy and the drive to swim for much longer. One of my other concerns here is that there are too many children in the pool at the same time. My son is very anxious to learn technique so he can swim in competitions or get on a team. Classes are only 30 minutes, students rest when they get to each end of the pool, there is not much momentum going on. So maybe in a class your child can complete 2-4 laps. It would be great to have a separate pool for older or more advanced students. If you don't have much patience I wouldn't recommend staying in the pool area because you will hear crying for an hour. read more

Enrolled my daughter 6 yr old whom is very comfortable in a pool, treads and floats in an 8ft pool confidently, I understood she did not know the strokes hence why I enrolled her, she attended two months and learned nothing, I asked if she could be moved to a different class as she was being taught basic pool introduction both months and was advise she must be assessed to the next level, when I asked what she would be assessed in the response was she needed to do strokes which in two months of attending where never taught. Can't pass an assessment if something isn't taught. read more

After having my daughter there for 4 months we decided to cancel and take her to a more organized and structured swim school. The kids are all in the pool without any division/separation from each class, mixing younger and older kids together even without trying. My daughters last day there she swam into an older kid sending her into a panic. Automatically she wanted out of the pool and did not want to return. Aside from the chaos, coach Michelangelo was heaven sent!!! He was ideal for a new learner! Soft spoken and patient. Unfortunately he left floaties and honestly the other coaches were the complete opposite of him so Him leaving plus my daughter being basically traumatized were the signal i needed to switch swim schools. The place isn't necessarily dirty but it isn't spotless either. The front desk needs some work as they aren't friendly and don't even try to help you if you need to switch classes. They also don't let you know if the coach isn't there for the day....you find out when you show up. My daughter is now thriving in the water again and coach Michelangelo teachings are helping her in the new school as well! read more

I known this place since they opened they were good people were welcoming and team was very professional, i feel that the current instructors are just lazy :( i see some that are actually pretty good , im here as im writing this review after over 100$ i paid for a non-private class im just very sad all my kid been doing is going around the pool the whole 30 min thats all he did , he also had a make up class right after , out of the 30 min i would say 8 min were an actual class , thankfully i just canceled and im not renewing his membership here . No thank you . I already tried different teachers and there was no different. My recommendation is to look with parks and recreation's for a community swimming lessons in ur city , they are so much affordable and also private classes at a lower price than here . This place needs to retrained their staff for-sure , all of us parents are listening and watching them even when we are on our phones. We might be writing a review like im doing now . read more

My 4 year old son has been attending swimming classes at Floaties for 2 1/2 months with coach Michaelangelo and he is already mostly swimming independently. Before joining Floaties he didn't want to go into a pool and like every kid didn't want his face to be wet. Now he loves going and looks forward to every class. The feeling when your child is close to the edge of a pool and they do not know how to swim ~FEAR~. I signed up my daughter at age 3. She was extremely uncomfortable with water splashed in her face and could not stay afloat. In her first 4 months there was not much swimming. My observation was that this time was used to build my daughters level of confidence in her teacher and raise her level of comfort in the water. I noticed this was done by holding my daughter, and dunking her in short intervals. There were a number of times during these first 4 months that I was ready to stop the classes. But I kept on reminding myself why we started the classes to begin with. This was an investment in my child's safety. It was not going to be a quick payout. By months 7-8 my daughter started to push off of the little underwater bench and swim to her instructor 10 feet away. The underwater dunk times had increased by a second and my daughter began to hold her breath a bit longer. After about 13 months, my daughter was holding her breath and swimming back and forth across the pool (short-ways). A relief I had longed for. She was excited to go to class and not only was her teacher pushing her along, but she started to exude confidence and was challenging herself to swim farther. At age 4 1/2, my daughter was swimming across the pool (long-ways). I was in awe the first time she accomplished this. I am extremely happy with our decision to weather the months when we were discouraged with the progress. We have reaped the rewards and have gained peace of mind. read more

Mr. Esteban and Ms. Jay are the greatest teachers, HANDS DOWN. My daughter is now less afraid of the water and is beggining to be less afraid specially when water touches her nose. My daughter took swimming lessons here for 2 months. Within the 2 months she went through 3 instructors. The pool is a decent size but there are so many classes going on at one time that the kids end up bumping into one another. It is about $125 per month for 30 min lessons 1x a week. I felt that it wasn't worth the cost. My daughter wasn't able to learn much since she kept getting new instructors. The shower area is tiny and has 3 showers for all the kids to use. Kids have to shampoo and wash up in hurry due to other kids waiting to rise off as well. Locker room is stuffy and has 1 enclosed changing area. I had much higher expectations for Floaties. Our family will not be coming back. read more

Pros: - cheaper than most private lessons I've seen - Friendly staff - my children have definitely made progress Cons:- less time getting actual instruction when they are busy. - There seems to be a pretty high turnover so your child will likely end up changing instructors if they are enrolled for a long enough Definitely a more affordable alternative to private lessons. That being said, if you child needs more attention or you'd like them to learn a little quicker I'd recommend coming on days of the week that it is not very busy. Instructors usually have more than one student so you'll need to be prepared for that. I'd also recommend taking the time to watch what your child is learning and work on it whenever you have a chance to go near water. At the end of the day your child gets to enjoy being active in a friendly environment and I'd recommend floaties to anyone with children read more

I signed up my three kids for the eight week program, with twice a week classes. To start off, the facilities are awful. The front office area is nicely ventilated, but the rest of the facility is not. The locker room/bathroom is completely stuffy and there is not an appropriate way in keeping the water drained. The floors are always slippery and kids are falling left and right. The stuffiness is a big concern when parents are trying to change their children out of wet swimsuits and into dry clean clothes. Showers are outside in the public area and children aren't able to take adequate showers. The waiting room is not air conditioned half the time either. When i told the front office staff they would say the air is on. Of course it's not a problem for them! they are sitting in the only area of the facility that is properly air conditioned. The teacher is a high school student that does not have training in dealing with young children. She would wait for me to put the kids in the pool for her and if they weren't interested, she would just ignore them and expect me to come back and get the kids to listen to her. She would wait up to five minutes before starting class and end a few minutes early every time. This is a big deal when the class is only 30 minutes long. It cost me over $600 for the three kids for the eight week class and it was a nightmare almost every time we went. They need a lot of work and should be ashamed for charging so much for sub-par swim lessons. Save your time and money and go somewhere else read more

Eastlake location- Today was our sons first lesson if you can call it that. I am very DISAPPOINTED to say the least. There was a complete lack of communication between the staff amongst themselves and in communicating with us. The front desk personal never explained anything to us on how the program is run. After signing in we were introduced to our instructor Josh and that's about where our lesson began and ended. After that we went to change our son and get into the pool (which I later found out that children over 2 do not need their parents in the pool again this was NEVER communicated to us by any of the personnel). When we got into the pool it was NEVER communicated to us where we were supposed to meet the instructor. After about 5 min we finally found him on the other side of the pool. I began to notice about 15 min into our 30 min lesson that my son was being completely IGNORED BY THE INSTRUCTOR even after my husband was trying to engage him in conversation asking what he should be working with our son on. I went to the front desk to express my concerns and frustrations. I was told by their personnel that this was NORMAL and that the next session would be different. FYI When a parent express that their child is being IGNORED IT SHOULD NEVER BE EQUATED TO NORMAL! A few minutes later after I left the front desk and returned to the pool area the manager of the facility came out and explained to us that because the instructors roster was not update with our sons name and the fact the my husband was in the pool led to the intructor ignoring us the ENTIRE time (again we didn't know we weren't supposed to be in the pool with him). The manager also explained that this class would be credited back to us. This could have all been avoided had there not been a complete lack of communication by the front desk personnel. They should have a script that they run though with each NEW PARENT ENROLLEE explaining procedures to the parents on how the program works and where to meet the instructor in the pool area. I hope to update this in a few weeks with a better review IF it is deserving, as it seems from other reviews we were the exception to an AWFUL first impression. read more

I brought my son to Floaties to learn strokes fundamentals in order to get him into a swim team. Silvia did a great job ensuring my son learned the technical skills for each required stroke. My son was not the best student, but she persevered and had an abundance of patience with him. Floaties, thank you thank you thank you for opening a school in Chula Vista! My 13 month old daughter started her classes yesterday with Nancy and I am SO impressed with this place so far! I called to pre register for classes before the school had opened - right of the bat the customer service I received was INCREDIBLE! The person I spoke to on the phone took about 20 minutes with me to explain all their policies, make sure that I had class times that worked with my schedule, all in all such a pleasant experience. Their policies are also great! I love the fact that they aren't on a rigid 6 week schedule with a specific start and end date. Yesterday, upon arriving at the school, I was greeted by two smiling faces at the front desk. and after signing some docs, and a quick tour we were off to swim! This is not the first time that my daughter has had swimming lessons - unfortunately I was so tired of the other school she was taking lessons at due to lack of customer service, lack of facility cleanliness, and just the distance from my home in Chula Vista, that when I heard that Floaties was opening, I couldn't wait to try them out. As I mentioned above, my daughter is swimming with Nancy. She was AMAZING with my daughter - extremely positive, full of energy and enthusiasm, this is exactly what we needed in a swim instructor! I'm going to have to disagree on some of the bad reviews here. I've been taking my daughter here for almost 3 months now and I have to say, she and I are enjoying it. I will warn you though, patience is key for the child AND the parent. The instructors work hard in helping the students build confidence and TRUST with the students for themselves and with the teachers first, before actually teaching them how to swim. I thought that was a good thing because say for example your child dives in the pool-before they dive, they need the confidence and trust in themselves that they can come up to the surface, float, and swim. That is very important in swimming. My only bad thought is that the classes are 30 minutes. For what you pay I think they should be longer, maybe 45 minutes. The first time my toddler attended this swim school was after he turned 1 yo. On his first 2 days with their previous instructor Nancy, he was behaving pretty good; but after that, he started to fuss with female instructors (and with anyone else except me :-)). It concerned both my husband and I since I'm paying for this $$ and my toddler obviously does not enjoy it since he cries the whole 30min. lessons. I called Floaties and inquired if we can try and change his lessons with a male instructor. I was placed on a wait list and after a couple of weeks I received an email saying my kid's off the wait list and into the new instructor's schedule. So far, my kid had 2 lessons without crying. I'm assuming he's at the age when he prefers to be with one gender all the time. 4 stars because I wish the temperature inside the swimming area is also regulated because it's cold, so even if they keep the pool temp. around 90's, it won't matter because when the kids get off the pool, they'll be shivering. read more

My daughter started At Floaties Chula Vista in December of 2018. Her first instructor was terrible but luckily she left & was replaced with Miss. Liz who has been the best replacement I could personally ask for! She has made my daughter comfortable with water & has taught her so many different swimming lessons & safety drills which has made me comfortable in having my daughter around a pool without having to worry so much about accidents! Miss. Liz has always been on point with the lessons and makes sure to not waste a minute of class time which lets me know we are getting our money's worth. Almost a year in & my daughter has shown a HUGE improvement thanks to Miss. Liz :) The con of the Chula Vista location is the stuffiness right now during the summer! HORRIBLE. Not sure if I am allowed to make a review, considering I worked for this company, but there are a few things I would really love to say. Floaties was/is like family to me. I loved all of the employees! Everyone is so sweet and just adores children. Floaties trains their employees to teach swimming in a different manner than I'm sure most adults where taught growing up, but I can assure you that this is probably the BEST way to learn. Before you go in for your first lesson, know that things are going to be a little different, but your kiddo will be a regular little fish before you know it! I can't say for all the employees, but I know that I had such an attatchment to my kids. I was so sad to leave them all.
