Wooden tables, big front window in a leafy street in Marchmont just beside the Meadows, lots of light and space, and a mighty fine looking lemon tart I want to go back and try. Yep, it's a winner. Maybe they could do with a couple more comfy places to sit, perhaps, as one of my lasting memories is of "quite hard". However, my carrot, orange and celery juice was a super-refreshing start to a day that would later contain, from another establishment, two coffees in a row and the world's largest slice of red velvet cake, and yet I felt healthy all day because of the juice. Maybe that's the only danger here: the ability to fool yourself your diet is JUST FINE because you feel so good from just the smallest Meadowlarking of a morning.

I personally am a huge vegetable person so the options they had were also great for me. I love all the fresh root vegetables and all the different things that they do with them. Inside the cafe is so cute, everything is bright and colorful and on a nice day it would be a great place to eat outside or to sit in the window and feel the sun coming through.

We were out before the crowds so the cafe was busy but not overwhelmed. The right amount of avocado to be filling and feta just added that touch of salt without making it too salty. I love a good balsamic w/my avocado toast and love even more when I don't need to ask for it. The Betty Ford was delicious. A bright spot in what was starting out as a dreary day. Fresh fruit with the brightness of the citrus, nothing added to enhance the flavors letting the fruit stand out w/no annoying smoothie base. Fortunately however, the baguette I had with it, tasted great and was made in front of me, which is great to be assured of the freshness of the ingredients. My best guess is that it's just the English muffin wasn't as sturdy as I'm used to and I'm used to it that way. The peas a la salt came over sourdough bread with bacon, black pudding and a poached egg. Same as the Bennedict, it was all yummy, but not amazing. The peas were very far from mushy (which is good), but maybe could have been a bit firmer. Things just didn't quite come together the way I would have hoped.

I had the smoked salmon burrito which was really delicious and just under £7 so it was quite expensive. I think the burrito was a safe dish to order so next time I would like to be more adventurous and try their traditional sausage as one of the servers in the shop described the sausage as having a 'unique' flavour. They also serve home baking, hot chocolate and, best of all, fresh muffins which are gorgeous.

This was served with crisps for about £4.50 which was an okay deal considering it was quite a lot of food. The roll tasted unusual but it was new, interesting and filling. The Zulu Lounge is a great alternative to the usual greasy spoons and certainly worth a visit for a culinary trip on the wild side!

Last time I went to the Farmer's Market I got one of their delicious bottles of braeberry juice, not really knowing at all what braeberry was. I still think I don't know what braeberry is, though it tastes damn good. So so sweet and with no added sugar. It's all kind of too much for me to take in. Braeberry juice is Bouvrage's second drink. Their first, raspberry, is pretty awesome too. I think the only reason I'm more into their braeberry is because it's a a completely new experience for me and I'm pretty fond of those. Their juice isn't just tasty, though, but they make a point of mentioning their berry's medicinal qualities: it's not only anti-bacterial but also helps with stress. Seriously, why go to the doctor for stress when you can just buy juice from Bouvrage and soap from Caurnie?

They also serve a wide range of really delicious smoothies and freshly squeezed juices, as well as home made soups. I ordered the carrot and coriander soup for my lunch which was tasted really fresh and full and flavour - yum! The food is perhaps a wee bit more expensive than the other sandwich shops in the area, but the food is truly beautiful so it is worth it!
