I have eaten here on several occasions and I have never been disappointed. I take all my out of town guests here and they fall in love. One of my favorite visits is when the owner shared with us his home made pumpkin soup that was cooking outside in a large cauldron. That was the best pumpkin soup I have ever had. They also have a soup of the day or salads to choose from as well. I chose the Chicken Curry sandwich and was pleasantly surprised by their version, as it actually had flavour. I would only change the sandwich bread, while good, it was a bit too much on the bread side. There is a large area for seating, and there almost always seems to be at least a few spots available - even though this place is usually packed. There is nothing memorable about the inside decor, it is simple and clean. Yes, I couldn't resist the powers of the fruit tart, one went home with me. I also noticed upon leaving that by the door there is a refrigerator with a selection of homemade ice creams, something to try on another day.

I also sat down in the cafe area and ordered a cappuccino (5.20 CHF), which was more latte like than cappuccino like but I still enjoyed it. If you need to pay in card, you'll have to go back to the front and it is the same minimum. The reason why I'm giving this place 2 stars if not because the food isn't good, but rather that they didn't give me the option to pay for both the croissant and coffee at the same time. I had enough cash when I ordered the croissant but had to meet the minimum when I bought the coffee - if I could have ordered them together (I did ask the front and she said no), then I would not have had to purchase as many random things to meet the minimum. A great Erythrean restaurant!…read more I discovered this location with my girlfriend thanks a friend who has lived in Lausanne for a while. First off, Erythrean food is quite similar to the Ethiopian food - you have a selection of meals that are all served on the top of spongy bread (injera) and are to be eaten with fingers. There is some variation in what gets served between the Erythrean and Ethiopian versions, but for most people the different will be pretty minor. The owner is very welcoming and is happy to give advice, both as to what to order as food and what to order as wine to go with it. The dish in itself (basically a 25CHF) is to be shared as is more than enough for three people and provides enough of small dishes to be able to accommodate very different tastes around the table (eg vegetarians vs meat-eaters). If you run out of food, the owner will add a bit more; same thing goes for the bread. Needless to say, the food is delicious and is pretty easy to digest. The wines by the glass are a good complement to the meal; their selection is very decent and the price is affordable. Overall, it's a great location and I would absolutely recommend it!
