Another NYC wine shop that I discovered thru Wine-Searcher.com. I was in need of a bottle Chateau Bellegrave(Pomerol) and they had it. The shop is accessible from the R train, and several bus lines. The Bellegrave was fairly priced at $56.99. I spent some time browsing and I noticed that they had Mayacamas Cabernet Sauvignon along with several hard to find goodies. I stopped by here one day when I was in the area and Yelp told me that this was the closest wine shop. I was definitely impressed to the point where this store has entered my rotation of wine stores I enjoy buying from. They have a lot, and I mean a lot, of selection. From the classics like Burgundy, Bordeaux, Barolo, Brunello, to the new world wines, and even some really interesting selections from Georgia and Greece. This is definitely a place where you can explore and try a lot of different wines you might not have heard of before. The staff is knowledgeable yet gives you your space. If you ask for help, though, they are happy to give help and offer good recommendations. They even have a bottle of DRC brandy here for $899! Granted it's brandy and not red Burgundy, but my heart skipped a beat for a brief second upon seeing it. I'll be back the next time I'm in the area buying wine. read more

First and foremost, having my mother and many friends on the frontlines of this pandemic, I understand that the world is turned upside down. Having said that, compassion and empathy can go a long way here. They had a special collaboration which was going to healthcare workers and the wine itself was produced to raise money for healthcare workers as well. I ordered 7 bottles. I pre-paid for them in advance. I asked Clara for an invoice to reserve them and understandingly knowing that the store closes at 8 pm, I emailed her at 7:48 PM to let her know I have not received my invoice yet because I wanted to pay to reserve the bottles. She emailed me back "I just sent it. I said it would be there by the end of the day, this is not the end of my day, sorry it wasn't soon enough". I let it pass as I can imagine maybe she was having a bad day with everything going on. I confirmed the order would be there and I went Saturday to pick it up. When I got there, only half the order was ready and they said they have to ship the other half. This order was going to healthcare workers. I explained can we make any exceptions - they quickly said NO! They did not offer any sort of reimbursement or compensation for misleading me. The customer service at this store was DISGUSTING!!! There was no empathy, no apology, nothing. I strongly recommend going anywhere else to purchase liquor in Manhattan. Reading other reviews it seems like this place seems to be quite familiar with misleading its clients. read more

My Hollywood-based advertising agency has been using them for years to send gifts to our NY-based clients. The quality of the wine itself can't be faulted, but the customer service is lacking. While everyone is friendly enough in correspondence, they've failed a few times to meet their delivery commitments. The whole point of sending gifts is for client relationships and those relationships are sabotaged when the vendor can't get the wine to the client on time as promised. I am very disappointed and will be looking for another vendor in the area that I (hopefully) will be able to trust more with my business. read more

I've tried this store a few times over the last year, hoping my first impression was wrong. Yet each time I come away irritated by the too-cool-for-school staff and disappointing wine. If they are going to act as if they're amazing, be amazing. Instead, the staff recos are weak and the wine selection is not nearly as good as it seems. The wines they recommended consistently turn out to be bland or downright bad. Would rather support other nearby stores, with non-jerky staff and a solid selection, like Bottlerocket. read more

I am not a wine expert. In fact, I typically select bottles of wine based on creative wine labels. That was, until I walked into this gem of a wine store. All I did was tell one of the -- uber helpful -- staff that I am a fan of red and typically enjoy Shiraz and Malbec. She recommended a French Malbec that I am now obsessed with Clos La Coutale, Cahors. There are no sulfates and so easy to drink - LOVE. I've visited a few more times, and also fell in love with the Yalumba, Shiraz Viognier. Again, I have to hand it to the staff. They are not wine snobs, and they are very good at what they do. I've been recommending the store, and my new favorite wines to anyone that will listen. 5-star favorite! read more

A nice wine store in flatiron that has a wide selection of wines and liquor. They don't have Myers rum, which was a little weird since every other spirits store carries it. This is a great shop. I work in the industry, and this shop is really my speed, if I'm being honest. Deep riesling selection, deeper Italian selection, and an even deeper Burg selection, not to mention a generous portion of Jura wines, and a plethora of great cru Beauj. They probably have one of the best curated selections in the city. And the staff is very knowledgeable. I just wish they were a little warmer. There are other great shops in town where I find the staff truly enjoys what they do and pride themselves on great customer service. The staff at Flatiron Wines all too often come off as of their above it all. I still patronize the shop, because as I said earlier the selection is wonderful and they know their stuff. However if I find a competitor has a bottle at a comparable price, even if it's for a few dollars more, I'll shop elsewhere to avoid the crabbiness. read more

My husband and I are big aspiring wine snobs, but have relied in the past on wine.com and wine-searcher.com for both our value and fine wine needs during windows of acceptable weather for wine shipping (remember, 70+ cooks your wine!). Imagine our relief when we found in our searches a wine shop a block south of Madison Square, that had very high quality wine at every price point. My husbandwas looking for a high quality Châteauneuf-du-Pape for the birthday dinner he was planning with the necessary age on it and had nearly given in to despair, and to our amazement through their website found a very impression selection available both in-store and in their warehouse. When you walk in you will be greeted by the promotion of the month or season, which right now (June) is of course those beautiful and fruity and floral summer rosés. Past the check out counter are two more tables with recommended whites and reds $15 and under (great QPR). The customer service is as enthusiastic and exceptional as I have encountered. Really experience and wine-enthusiast staff will give you a great explanation of the wines for sale and the options available within your preferred styles, your knowledge, your preferred regions--you name it. Easily the best wine store service I have encountered yet in New York City. In addition, they are customer-pleasers, giving out six-bottle cloth carriers with a large purchase, free delivery, and even a money-back guarantee for a wine-faulted or corked bottle if you return with the receipt. If you're interested in fine wines, the shop has an exceptional selection in the back for Northern and Southern Rhône Valley appellations in a variety of available ages, winemakers, styles, and prices. Equally expansive was the Burgundy selection, covering an entire wall with the full panoply of the best French chardonnay and pinot noir. We would have preferred a larger section for Bordeaux wines, but the variety displayed was still comprehensive ranging from extremely affordable $15-20 claret to classified growths in the low $100+ range. The Italian section was somewhat compressed considering the wide range of regions, but displays the same high quality, great range of prices and ages of wine, and attention to detail. It is difficult for reasons of practicality for any wine shop in New York City to have a full selection of any wine at any age. But in Burgundy and Rhône they come close, and a better selection of just about any other major region than your average NYC wine shop. read more

I've been a customer since they opened bc they have good selection. But recently I found that each sales person there is unnecessarily snobby as they grew their business. I understand they are knowledgeable but doesn't mean they have to change their attitude towards their own customers. Don't know how others think but that's what I got disappointed.
