We just moved here and our dog ran through the neighbors barbwire fence and needed stitches last night. We traveled an hour to get there and they took us in right away. The staff here were very professional, compassionate, and knowledgable. After assessing him, they gave us 3 options, sedated him and stitched him up and gave him antibiotics in just under an hour. The bill was high, but less than the estimate so it was a relief. As we waited, I watched them interact with other humans and their pets with the utmost understanding and care. Our 3 month old Aussie swallowed something that looked like cloth possibly insulation. Had to have a Barium Series. Dr. Aldrich was quick with diagnosis and handling the situation. I called and checked at 2 am how he was and they kept me informed of what was happening. Was sent home with three RXs the next morning. All went well. His staff was professional and gentle with our pup. It's good to have a vet to turn to after hours. read more

Flathead Pet Emergency is responsible for my best friend and cancer companion named Moto dying from their malpractice and negligence in their care! They never took his condition serious or even told us it was life theatening after I told him he had a breathing and throat issue. They were very unprofessional and non caring about us or our animal. Moto had a collapsing trachea which they knew they couldn't preform a Tracheology in case he turn for the worse. They decided to put him on a 12 hour watch while giving him pain meds and sedatives and he starting getting worse. I'm no doctor but I've talked to some doctors, nurses, and vets which all said you don't give opiates (sedatives) to someone or an animal with a breathing condition as it slows down their breathing. When I went to pick Moto up the place was so worried about a $98 payment after I already paid $600 the first time and they already had my card information. That was about 30 mins stuck in there worried about financials. We finally got Moto out of the financially driven Flathead Pet Emergency. We rushed him to Missoula to Sentinel Pet Specialist and Emergency. It was a 2 hour drive and sadly moto took his last breaths 15 mins from the vet in Missoula and died in my arms thanks to Flathead Pet Emergency malpractice and negligence. The vet from Sentinel Pet specialist was the best vet and place I ever been to and she personally called Flathead Pet Emergency to let them know moto died due to their unprofessionalism, negligence, and malpractice. I've gotten a hand written card from my normal vet, the vet from Missoula. But oddly I never got any condolences from Flathead Pet Emergency which truly shows they don't care about animals, just financials. If you truly care for your animal I would recommend the vet in Missoula or any other vet beside Flathead Pet Emergency. Flathead Pet Emergency needs to be reclassified since that can't perform emergency services or even provide emergency transport. If I could give this place 0 stars that would be the best fitting rating for them or a negative rating! read more

We had a pet emergency at 12 am on a Sunday night (it's always a Sunday night!). Our cat was extremely lethargic, barely lifting her head to acknowledge us. The whole staff at Flathead Pet was terrific. At first, it seems a little weird that you call when you arrive and then they show you in to a room. But it's much better than waiting in a reception area. They got to us quickly, despite their being several other emergencies. After a blood test, they determined that our cat was extremely anemic and needed a blood transfusion immediately. Although Flathead Pet isn't equipped for transfusions, they called a provider in Missoula, confirmed they had our cat's blood type, and transferred our records there. Their initiative and care helped save our cat's life. We really appreciate them. Please take a look at their website before visiting; it provides instructions and information about the cost. Keep in mind that ALL emergency pet clinics are extremely expensive and, unlike human emergency rooms, they are not able to care for pets without payment. read more

In June our puppy broke both bones in her left front leg. The care she got here was amazing! They were quick to help her get the best care/surgeon and communicate with us every step of the way. Well a pet emergency is never a good thing. Our senior male dachshund was gravely I'll on super bowl Sunday and not to mention one of the worst snow storms of the winter. We called and of course said bring him on in. We live 60 miles away but our dogs are like kids. We get there and they ran a whole battery of tests. But couldn't really find anything so since he had a history of pancreatitis they went with that!! Said he needed to be on IV for the night and pick him up before 8 am in the morning. Well early morning in the winter in Montana is a feat. Dark, icy and snowy. Plows weren't even out yet. After the gave their diagnosis we asked how much? $1200!! Yikes so my husband asked if we just took him home what would happen and they said he'd probably die!! Geez... since our bill was already $700 what's another $500?? But you have to pay up front. We did go with their recommendations but holy moly. Then after picking him up we took him to our regular vet only to find out that they didn't even run a test to find out if it was really pancreatitis!! Grrr... Well they saved his life I guess but not only after gouging us!! read more

On Friday night at about 10 pm my little dog Smalls was attacked my a larger dog and pretty much torn in two. I rushed him of course to the vet to help him praying he would not die. I've had him for seven years and he means the world to me.. When we went to the pet emergency doctor in evergreen across from papa Murphys, which Smalls had been taken to previous when it was out on Lasalle right before the airport. When we arrived they took my dog in the back and I assumed they would be fixing the huge wounds on his body and give him something so he felt no pain. After about a half hour the assistant came out to discuss the situation and let me know what needed to be done/ the cost of services they would provide to him. Just like everyone else in life this was an unexpected situation right before pay day so I explained that I would have to go home and I would need to go get the payment and would be back to give them some money. They said that was not an issue. With the distance to our house and trying to get in touch with friends that could possibly help two hours had passed but due to the late hour I was unable to get that was needed and would have to wait til the am so we went back into the vet to explain the situation that I could not give them the 500 half upfront payment until morning. The entire time I never would of imagined that my dog had not received any aid from the er and he had been laying in the back in some room this entire time. I was devastated when the assistant that took my dog initially told me he would not get any treatment without money being provided first.. HOLD ON... Seriously??? He was just discarded in some room the entire time he's been here and no pain nothing no fix the wound not anything. I failed him!! I did not know what to do I was in a spot of complete helplessness and my dog was suffering. By the grace of good positive righteous energy a friend came at 3am and put a deposit so my dog could be treated.. I am still sick to my stomach that anyone who took the service to help a injured/ sick animal could just allow any of what when on that night inside that vet and the cruelty that my small guy endured.. I would understand if we had never been there before but we had and both the other times the cost was close to 7-9 hundred dollars and they were paid in full without hesitation. So the behavior and lack of by these horrible people that caused more trama on his little life that was unneeded. Please share because these people in the er hospital for animals here should be fired. As well as someone needs to open another place that is an er for animals that has compassion and a love for animals that would not be abusive toward the patients that pay their bills. read more

Our beloved dog died because we took her here. We brought her in 3 times within 10 hours. All 3 times she was never given fluids, even though she was dehydrated after vomiting non-stop for 10 hours, and her electrolytes were never checked because their machine was broken. They drugged her so bad that she would just stand over her water bowls staring at it. We miss her terribly and this all could have been prevented with good veterinary care. We would not recommend taking your animal here if you want them to live. read more

Not even worth one star. Nothing "emergency" about this place. They only have 2 dog beds, so if you have a dog, expect to wait - we waited 4 hours before being seen. Extremely poor communication while you wait in your car with your injured pet (and distressed humans!). When we finally got called in, every single staff member was rude, including the doc. They gave us too small of a cone, so we had to go back the next day & wait another 20 min to get a proper fitting one. It's unfortunate if your pet is injured on a weekend, as this is the only pet ER in the valley. I HIGHLY recommend going to your regular vet if possible. This place is a joke & clearly needs some new management & staff training. read more

Dr Dean and his team saved my little girl. We were visiting Glacier National Park and our dog became very sick. The emergency was open 24 hours and was able to take her right away. She needed iv fluids and antibiotics overnight. In the morning Dr Dean called to explain what was going on. He was very compassionate and caring. He answered all my questions and was encouraging. My rescue cat Casey has been failing. Old age -- about 15 years. Thought she was going to make it for a few more months, but she took a turn and started meowing pitifully about 8pm. She didn't want to lie on my lap and just wanted to lie on the floor. I thought she was going to die right there, but she held on and I held out false hope until I realized she was suffering unnecessarily. Took her in ( about 1230am) and these folks were very respectful and compassionate. I wasn't pressured into any unnecessary tests and wasn't made to feel like I was neglectful. I was able to sit with her while the sedative worked. She calmed very quickly. The room was softly lit and peaceful. Didn't take long and the tech checked in a few times to explain what was happening and what to expect next. Only took about 6 minutes and she was at peace. Wasn't price gouged and they worked with me on the pricing. I am so thankful that these guys were open so late and she didn't have to suffer through the night. Would definitely recommend. read more

When we took Honey (golden lab) in because she ate her entire container of pain pills, I wasn't sure if she was going to make it or not. I was confused and had no idea what to expect. I broke down crying in a mini panic meltdown. 48 hours later, honey was saved and back at home healthy. Dr. Dean was incredible. The nurses and staff were incredible. Never again will we go to this clinic! We called ahead of time because we have a 45 minute drive. They never once said when we got there that we would not be allowed to go in with our dog, who is a 125 pound German Shepherd. When we got there the woman proceeded to tell me that we would have to stay outside and they would take the dog in alone. I said that would not work. I then proceeded to ask her why she was saying this? She said that it is her procedure because of Covid. I then proceeded to say they could've told me that on the phone before I drove 45 minutes. She then told me that she's not going to tolerate that kind of talk, which is absurd because I was just asking questions! It's absolutely insane. I wouldn't trust them with my dog ever. read more

After our dog was hurt in an accident, we got her to the closest open vet within an hour - thankfully we realized that she was not okay the next morning and we got her here (2.5 hours away) within 24 hours of her accident. In my 52 years on this planet, I have not seen a better run facility nor a doctor who has Dr. Dean's ideal combination of compassion and skill. When we first arrived we thought that he was mad at us because he was so focused - I believe that he was actually furious at the first doctor who treated her for nearly killing her but he is too professional to say so. The entire team, from Katie who answered my many calls to Chris and the other techs whose names I cannot recall are excellent. On our first visit, we were taken in back to go over her condition and every single person around that table had a hand on my dog in care and comfort. Chris even handed me a box of tissues. They are taking AMAZING care of our dog while also assuring that we are clear on how she is, on what is happening and on what needs to happen next. This has been a horrible situation made better by Dr. Dean and his team. I will continue to be grateful until I draw my last breath. From the bottom on my heart, take your animals here... read more

We have unfortunately had to use Flathead Pet Emergency 4 times over the last decade. Not a big fan of leaving a negative review but sometimes it is necessary. I appreciate that there is a clinic that is open after hours, weekends, and holidays and hats off to those who put in the hours away from there family and friends to help the fuzzy family members. First interaction was a couple year old Rottie that had a few seizures on Thanksgiving day, was informed that there probably wasn't much we could do and seizures would continue, Aldrich leaned toward probably putting her down would be our best option. We took her home and she lived to be almost 14, glad I didn't take there advice. Second round, had a 14 yr old small poodle (7-8 lbs) who had gotten run over by a car and was severely injured, didn't look good to me but figured at least if we took him in they could euthanize him and save me from having to put him down, $1600 later Dr. Aldrich believed he could perform surgery and give this "Kid" a few more years. Took poodle home and 3 days of pain later we took him back to have him checked as he was not doing well and during a blood draw he died on the table. Recently our 4 yr old Rottie was not feeling good and was having issues urinating, took him to his vet and diagnosis was inflamed prostate, was given some bytril and sent home. A few days later he had a few seizures and was taken to Dr. Aldrich in the late evening, $700+ later he was kept overnight and given seizure medicine. We took him home early the next morning and he didn't show signs of improvement and progressively got worse. Had to take him in early the next morning for euthanasia as he had lost control of his motor skills. Called when we were 2 min from arriving and had to wait for them to come out and get him inside, once inside I would have liked to seen more urgency being the Rottie was getting worse by the second and my daughters and wife got to watch him moan and kick until they came in with the sedation that I had asked to be ready on the way there. Again, do not like talking negatively and not blaming the clinic for the pets illnesses (It is called a practice for a reason) just seems like sometimes it is more revenue based and would like to see more professionalism and for lack of better words, honesty. I appreciate all of staff working the hours no one wants to and having a clinic available after hours but would like to have other options as I think this clinic could be operated at a higher level of integrity and knowledge. Not trying to stop anyone from taking there pets there (It is the only option at the moment) but hope they have a better experience than we have had. read more

Writing this review is so frustrating because I've had mixed results with this business. Earlier in the year, our 10-year-old poodle began coughing and was in distress. We brought her in in the middle of the night and this clinic was amazing. They ran tests, gave her oxygen, and thoroughly discussed options. The kept her overnight and we picked her up the next day - she's like a new puppy with her heart medication. Thanks to this outstanding experience, I chose this clinic for my 14-year old cat who began suddenly wheezing in the middle of the night (on a Sunday no less). He was in clear distress and we brought him in. Though he was gasping for air, he received no oxygen, we were given no options, and he was given back to me with amoxicillin. I brought him home and he "loafed" on the floor, still wheezing. I was instructed to give him the first round of amoxicillin with his next feeding. The vet tech had assured me that everything was fine and he was just snotty, so I left the room to prepare his food. When I returned, he was lying on the floor, not breathing. This was less than 2 hours from me bringing him home. I never got a chance to give him any medication. We rushed him back to the clinic and sat in the parking lot as instructed, and received a phone call from the attending vet (since you can't go into the place and talk to people face-to-face) that he couldn't save him and that he must have had an underlying heart condition which was stimulated by the medication they gave him during his first visit. To their credit the doctor and staff were extremely compassionate and helpful in arranging cremation, but throughout, I was devastated and didn't question why I wasn't presented the option for them to keep him and observe. And I should have. He had been to another clinic two months earlier and passed the physical with flying colors. He was running and jumping earlier that week with no issues. Why wasn't he given oxygen when it was clear he was gasping for air? I feel as though I failed my little buddy and am having a tough time healing from this loss. I'm finding that too many clinics in the Flathead don't treat cats as well as dogs. Either we don't have enough cat-friendly vets or dogs are just higher on the priority scale. I've had vets push vaccines for my indoor adult cats before knowing anything about them. I also experienced a vet who dismissed symptoms as minor when they turned out to be fatal. I think I've finally found a great cat vet and will review that clinic as time goes on, but I'm so wary now about where to bring my fur-babies. So, my final thoughts are, if you have a dog, this is a 5-star clinic. If you have a cat, you might want to explore other options. read more

My dog has kidney issues and no vet would fix her. Doctor Dean Aldridge said he could do it by giving my dog lots of fluids and using meds not to stress the kidneys. He stayed late and worked on my puppy...no one else would fix her. He did and she is doing great. I have had three very good experiences with Dr. Aldridge until 12/10/2016 when I called after hours to ask about pain meds.... I had just seen him this week for emergency Services and my dog was there two days costing $1100 for two days using both emergency and day vets...when I called after hours and said my dog was in pain and asked about pain meds the receptionist said I might have to bring her in...I said I couldn't afford to bring her back in and asked if the pain meds he would give me would be ok for her kidneys...I was given the very cold shoulder by receptionist and when I asked to talk to Dr. Dean the receptionist said he told me to tell you to talk to Dr. Duggar on Monday...disappointing to say the least. The receptionist said he wouldn't talk to me... i guess he is good until you say you don't have the funds. Up until this when I was paying I was treated well. My poor dog is suffering. read more

I had him to his regular vet and they couldn't figure it out and he became worse, fast. Pet emergency figured it out right now! Emergency surgery with Dr. Dean, who is AMAZING!!! There were problems during the week with little Murphy and every time Dr. Dean and his staff were there and pulled Murphy out of his very near death experience to a healthy, playful back to the happy little pup Murphy was. I cannot be more grateful and cannot tell you enough how great these people are! I can tell you Murphy would not be here if not for Dr. Dean that is a fact. read more

These guys hands-down are amazing. I would like to wholeheartedly thank the owner of the practice for providing a 24 hour vet service. 25 years ago when I was a kid we had a dog cut its leg on a chainsaw. That wasn't a big deal, until we got to the vet and he was completely drunk and his assistant had to do the stitches. This would never happen at Flathead pet emergency or the facility that it is housed in. These are top-notch people and you will not find better people to care for your animals anywhere in the United States. We have had a dog swallowed a 10 inch long bamboo skewer whole as well as about 20 other incidents in the last 10 years and this clinic has ALWAYS performed. BEST VET CLINIC EVER!!!! read more

Aldridge a man can't diagnose his way out of a paper bag I have unfortunately gotten him three times and all three times he has misdiagnosed my animal and for Yelp arbitrarily not recommend 2 reviews that I see is it streaming harmful to the people that use this site and of the animals that wind up in his care my opinion and I am a human health care professional so I know a little bit about medicine this man should not be licensed to practice veterinary medicine. So the software that you use to decide people shouldn't read a review is Ludacris I wonder how many others I have possibly been harmed because they didn't read a review that you didn't recommend I hope you'll do something to change this. read more
