Arranging for taxi pickups is a pain sometimes. The LA area is full of car service options, but all of them were ridiculously expensive and not flexible with time. Flat Rate happened to be the only company in a pinch I spoke with who could afford to pick me up at the time I wanted, charge me less than $100 for the distance, and take credit card.
A quick call from another airport to their dispatcher sealed my reservation and off they went. I landed in LAX after flying the horrendous US Airways (http://www.yelp.com/biz/us-airways-tempe) my driver was on time and called me as soon as I landed. I made one major with US Airways, which was checking in my luggage. The luggage took 45 minutes to arrive to baggage claim and in the midst of it all, my driver Jorge was patient the entire time.
Many apologies later I found myself on the inside of what appeared to be a black town car. There was a couple of bottles of water and snacks that were deemed "complimentary" by Jorge. I decided to pass and leave it for his next set of customers. I was told he was late for his other appointments due to my snafu and so he sped down the highway from LAX to KTown (#1).
And as promised, credit card was accepted and charged for $75 (ugh!) for the total distance. Though it was pricier than what I would've liked, it was no less a premium for the alternative (public transit anyone? No car rental for me that night). Would I use these folks again? Definitely. Would it help to bring a friend for the ride next time? I'd reckon so.
