This one has the added convenience of a Subway and a McD right next door. The disappointment, which cost them a star? They don't care enough about customers to offer warm water in the winter. I tried all four faucets, with none offering that amenity. That's kind of low-class cost-cutting. Is it only temporary? Well if it is, they should have "loved" enough to pay a sign of apology. In any case, what are the odds of that?

On a morning that saw a temperature of thirty-eight degrees and snow flurries the night before, coffee is a must! Never having tried the breakfast sandwiches from RaceTrac, I grabbed a ham/egg/cheese croissant and a bacon/egg/cheese croissant. This RaceTrac has many hot food items available. Whether it be a breakfast sandwich or a hamburger, having a hot breakfast sandwich on a cold morning is the way to start off the day. The breakfast croissants were good. I prefer either McDonald's or WAWA breakfast sandwiches, but these were good. And they were available after 11:00 am. Most other places do not have breakfast sandwiches available after10:00-11:00 am. Especially when it is thirty-eight degrees. RaceTrac coffee is really good. And they have Krispy Kreme doughnuts available with that coffee too. I grabbed a package of doughnut holes for later on. After a discount of $1.29 for a breakfast combo, my total came up to $7.94. This RaceTrac is always clean, and the service is always friendly. Plenty of gas pumps available, and plenty of snacks available. Whether it be coffee, a hot sandwich or hot dog, or frozen yogurt with toppings, RaceTrac has plenty to offer. Get it to go, or you can sit at several of the picnic tables outside. Providing it is not thirty-eight degrees. Just off I-575, this RaceTrac is really convenient. This place historical sold bait and convenience store goodies, but when I entered I knew things had changed for the better under new ownership. Behind the counter was a smiling face who turned out to be an energetic, attentive cashier. He immediately asked me if I was looking for bait, and communicated the price per dozen right off. Very impressive customer service! While he was in the back I just admired how clean, well stocked, organized, and well lit the store was. You could tell someone took pride in running this store now. I was so impressed at how friendly and good this place felt. The cashier informed me that they are open at 6a, then possibly 5:30a as the fishing season and sunrise progresses. I admire a store that considers what the customer's need, and makes adjustments to accommodate. They even have huge shad tank outside for bass fishing. Frankly - I'm struggling to figure out how I haven't heard of this place and why no one has posted…read morepics. The oldest review is from 2012! For more than 8 years, I used to frequently visit a plant less than a mile from this place and had no idea it was here. The only thing I can think of regarding lack of photos is maybe the other diners are wolfing their food down before they can snap pics. Lol. I love a good, hot cheap lunch and this place fits the bill. I guess it's what some would call a 'hole in the wall,' but as long as you keep that in mind, for this type of eatery, they knocked it outta the park! Exterior / Interior It's a gas station / convenience store, located right on the corner of Allgood and Damar Rd. (It's less than 5 minutes north of The Big Chicken). Limited parking and be careful exiting the lot. It's on a curve, no traffic light and most motorists seemed intent on disobeying the speed limit. Interior seemed clean and orderly, most customers seemed to be buying food or scratchers. They have this virtual gambling machines and each one was occupied. Crowd was a mix of friendly working class folks and surly sour faced people cursing and trying to steal other people's joy. Food I ordered a turkey club for myself and a chicken philly with fries for the SO. I took the liberty of opening his sandwich and fries to take a pic. My turkey club was quite tasty. I would have his again but I'd ask for it to be placed in a Styrofoam container and I would probably omit the third slice of toast. Thanks to the tight, foil packaging, may sandwich got pretty steamed up by the time I got to my destination. My sweetie said his cheesesteak was excellent and he enjoyed his fries as well. The fries and tator tots have their own dedicated cooking station - and they looked and smelled delicious. Also want to give some Kudos for variety. The cooking area is TINY but somehow, in addition to cheesesteaks and burgers, they also have cold cut sandwiches, fried chicken sandwiches, shrimp PoBoys, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, beef / lamb gyros and hot dogs. They even have a veggie patty sandwich! Customer Service The 3 men behind the cash register were friendly and the person I spoke to on the phone was very friendly and kind too. (I called to ask about hours and whether they had a menu online). The young lady doing all the cooking was friendly and efficient. She smiled as she asked if mushrooms and onions were ok on the Philly. She kept smiling as she asked if I wanted it dressed with mayo, tomato and lettuce and she thanked me for stopping by. She was manning the grill, the fry station and taking orders and still she managed to stay upbeat and pleasant. Price / Value I think the food prices are pretty reasonable. Another reviewer said the cheesesteak was $5 - either regular inflation or COVID ... it's $6.49. My turkey club was $5.79 and I think the fries were $1.89. They don't have any paper take-away menus (you know I asked) and no online presence so I snapped a few pics of the menu they have written on the an actual, old-school chalk board. Unfortunately, the chalk is very faint and the menu is very hard to read. COVID precautions None at all that I could see. No masks were worn by anyone. There is a plexiglass divider between the customers and the cashiers and the cooking area is on an elevated platform, but otherwise - nada! Overall Overall, once COVID is over, I would stop back by if I was in the area. They are open for breakfast and they stop cooking at 4pm, so I would suggest arriving no later than 3:30pm. If the owner reads this - I would LOVE to see a chicken gyro added in the future. Lol. You already have the flatbread, onions, Tzatziki sauce ... just use that tasty chicken you use on the chicken philly.

Buc-ee's is more than a gas station... it's an experience! This one sits a little past halfway on the Nashville-to-Atlanta drive, so a lot of us hit it often, and that's my main gripe: it is way, way too crowded. Almost every visit, even off-peak, there's traffic just getting off the highway and into the lot. They don't manage it well for a lot this size, and it always feels like you're one distracted driver away from a fender bender. Parking is tough, sometimes requiring circling around or parking far away. I come here mostly for the clean bathrooms, so having to wait in line for the women's restroom on two recent visits felt outrageous given there must be fifty stalls in there. Inside, weird and tasty snacks galore. Everyone says get the brisket and jerky, but insiders know the breakfast burritos are the true star, fresh-made flour tortillas and all. The highlight of my last stop was dill pickle sour straws, handed out as samples, excellent. The sugar-roasted candied pecans look tempting but are rarely actually fresh and warm at this location, which is frustrating. Then there's a warehouse-worth of home goods, clothing, house supplies, and anything you can print a Bucc-ee on. The t-shirts are my favorite, absurdly soft, my fave for sleeping in. This spot is ultimately still a classic Buc-ee's experience. But the crowds and the traffic and the general hassle make me think twice about stopping. Gas here is cheap, though not the cheapest on the route.
