Junior E. Flanigan is the Funeral Director/Owner. Mr. Flanigan waited patiently while I delayed cremation due to complications concerning the holidays and particularly my trying to decide whether or not to have an autopsy. This required multiple phone calls and delays. I finally decided on the autopsy and Mr. Flanigan and his team handled that flawlessly. Contrary to their tagline, we did not experience compassionate service here. My friend recently lost her grandmother--a woman who raised her from the age of 8 and whom my friend had spent the last five years caring for. Her grandmother's final wishes were to be cremated, and we wanted to honor those wishes. We were told by Mr. Junior Flanigan that we could not proceed with cremation until the next of kin granted permission. When my friend explained that she was extremely reluctant to contact them because of the trauma and abuse she had experienced at their hands, she was told, "You should love your grandmother enough to want to reach out to these people." We explained again that these were traumatic and abusive relationships. After another comment along these lines, my friend became so distressed that she got up and left the room. While she was gone, I again explained the circumstances: the next of kin had been abusive and then absent from my friend's life. Despite this, Mr. Flanigan again insinuated that my friend should love her grandmother enough to make contact with them. Only after this distress did Mr. Flanigan offer to contact the next of kin himself, although he told us we would still need to help him do so. We also asked what options were available if the next of kin refused to sign the paperwork required for cremation. Rather than explaining what alternatives or legal avenues might exist, he simply suggested burial--which was not financially possible and would not have honored the deceased's wishes. Several times, even after I explained my friend's financial circumstances, Mr. Flanigan emphasized that they would need to be paid for their services. Given the circumstances, the repeated focus on payment felt especially insensitive and made us feel that financial concerns were taking priority over compassion. After leaving, we began trying to locate and contact the two living next of kin ourselves. This ultimately put my friend in exactly the situation she had explained was traumatic for her, including having to contact her biological mother. We were eventually able to obtain contact information for one of the two next of kin, and I called Mr. Flanigan expecting that this would allow us to move forward. Instead, he told me we also needed to contact the second next of kin. I explained that our research indicated this person was actively avoiding law enforcement and had blocked my friend's attempts to contact him and his girlfriend. Mr. Flanigan then told us we would need to obtain a signed and notarized document stating that. During this process, I did my own research and discovered that there were other potential courses of action if the next of kin would not cooperate. None of these options were offered or explained to us. When we asked what we could do if we encountered obstacles, Mr. Flanigan referred to the situation as a "big question mark" and told us that we would have a "big problem" if that happened. At that point, I began working with Crowell Brothers Funeral Home, and the difference in our experiences was extraordinary. Mr. Bradley offered to take on contacting the next of kin, answered all of my questions with logical courses of action, and was very persistent in getting what we needed to proceed with her grandmother's last wishes. He truly went above and beyond. The kindness, compassion, guidance, and assistance we received from Crowell Brothers were above and beyond what we experienced here--even when there was no guarantee of monetary gain for them. Losing someone you love is already incredibly difficult. Families should not have to feel judged, pressured, or left without answers while trying to carry out their loved one's final wishes. If you are looking for compassionate, knowledgeable, and supportive funeral services, I strongly recommend Crowell Brothers Funeral Home. I am writing this while listening to my friend break down in tears after dealing with this funeral home. If you are looking for empathy, compassion, or even basic professionalism while grieving -- this is NOT the place for you. My friend just lost her grandmother and made it very clear she is no-contact with toxic family members for very personal, long-standing reasons. Instead of respecting that boundary during one of the most vulnerable times in her life, a staff member looked her in the eye and said: "Don't you love your grandmother enough to take care of this." An EXACT quote. Said to a grieving woman who does love her grandmother, which is why she was there trying to make arrangements. Weaponizing her love for her grandmother to guilt her into contacting toxic family she has spent years protecting herself from is beyond unprofessional -- it's cruel. Grief is not a time to be shamed, pressured, or judged for your family boundaries. A funeral home should be a place of support, dignity, and understanding. We experienced none of that here. Just a complete lack of empathy and a stunning lack of professionalism. Not overly explanatory; we tried to give copies of loved ones policy and information for her insurance for her prepaid cremation and ceremony but they just took the policy number; her arrangements were made in Washington and finally Jr agreed to write it down. You would think as long as they have been in business they would have been more warm, thoughtful and explanatory of the process. They were recommended by Agape Hospice or we probably may not have used them. I didn't even read the reviews before we selected them and I normally do but under the circumstances I just agreed to use them. Junior showed my family no empathy. He didn't ask us any questions about what happened, how we were, or even took the time to introduce himself. During the consultation, he fell asleep!!! I am 100% disappointed with the treatment my family received. We were told the cremation remains of our loved one would be ready for pick up on Monday (the following week after the initial meeting). My fiancée and his mother both asked if everything was ready, including the urn, and administrative assistant verified everything was in order and our loved one was ready to be picked up. When we arrived, again we were treated very coldly. My fiancées mother asked again if everything was in the box that was given to us. Junior said it was. So imagine our shock when we got home to find we were not provided with the urn, but just the plastic box with our loved one's ashes!! I called and spoke with the administrative assistant and Junior and I was told "I was shocked to see you all come in to collect the remains of our loved one." I said you, (Junior) told us everything would be ready for pick up on Monday (the following week after the initial meeting). Also I was told that the urn we ordered should "be in any day." Horrible service. I've been to several/involved with funerals but never have been treated so coldly. I do not recommend this funeral company. read more

Flanigan Funeral Home has become the go to Funeral Service for my family. We have had multiple family members funerals here over the past decade. We even had a Military Funeral here for a family member killed in Afghanistan. They have always been helpful in the process of arranging services. Prices are reasonable. The facilities are nice. Parking lot is large for all the family and friends. For the military funeral they accommodated the Military Honor Guard who were there the entire time. And there was plenty of room for the Motorcycle Escort from the Patriot Guard Riders. For my fathers funeral they arranged the local VFW Post to do a Graveside Military Salute with Taps and 21 Gun Salute. They have really taken care of us. read more

I never thought I would feel the need to post a review for a funeral home, but we were deeply disappointed with the services recently provided by Flanigan Funeral Home. Our initial meeting with Junior was fine, however, looking back on this, he did not ask many questions. He also showed zero sympathy for our loss. It got worse from there. First, our loved one's obituary was not posted timely, and when it finally was posted, it contained numerous errors. Several family members had to contact Flanigan's before these errors were corrected. Second, we still do not have the death certificate, and were told by one of the associates that we would likely need to make arrangements to find a doctor to sign it! Third, our love one was cremated and his remains were to be transported to the cemetery for burial. On the day of the service Flanigan's called and told us we had to come pick up the remains and take them to the cemetery, contrary to Junior's previous assurance that the funeral home would transport the remains. Junior would not take my phone call to discuss this and the associate with whom I spoke refused to help resolve this. My sister had to stand in line for our loved one's remains and was offered no help transporting them to her vehicle. Several associates just stood around and watched her, not even helping with the door!! Fourth, Junior also promised that he would take care of all arrangements with the cemetery where our loved one, a Korean War veteran, was to receive full military honors. Alas, Flanigan's did not even communicate this correctly to the cemetery and it was too late for us to correct this on our own. If I could give less than one star to this business I would. I completely understand that, given the time of year that our loved one passed and the fact that deaths are up due to the pandemic, funeral homes are busier. But this does not excuse the lack of basic care, empathy and support a funeral home should provide. Flanigan's failed to meet all of these basic levels of service. If you are in need of a funeral home in Northern Gwinnett County or Buford, Georgia, I strongly recommend that you consider someone other than Flanigan Funeral Home. read more

I chose this location for a memorial service for my mother. They do cremations on site (which is VERY unusual, most places take the body elsewhere), which was really important to me, I didn't want her body moved all over. They had a nice chapel and the staff was really nice. We had a mixup with scheduling, but they fixed it (after a bit of back and forth). The prices are all reasonable. If I had to do it again (and hopefully will never have to), I would go with them again. read more

Thankully, I only had to deal with Flanigan's for my cremation needs. I was not impressed in the least with the one meeting I had with them. The death certificate for my murdered husband came back inaccurate. I'm unsure whether this is the fault of the funeral home, or the state. But, the way I've been spoken to and treated in trying to resolve this issue is completely unacceptable. One woman I spoke to was downright rude. She even hung up on me at the end of our conversation. If I can muster the strenght to be polite, surely a funeral home should do better. Used Flanigans when my mom passed away in May, we called and they met us at the hospital to transport her body in a very timely manner. The gentleman who picked her up was very sensitive and respectful with our time needed to say our final goodbye outside of the funeral home. When we arrived at the funeral home Junior was very friendly and walked us through the whole process to file the death certificate and to arrange cremation. He provided us with a booklet to order urns from that they did not have in the back showroom because I did not like anything I saw and wanted purple since it was her favorite color. The urns we got are beautiful and they were beyond accommodating again when one of the memory urns we ordered was not the color it appeared to be in the booklet, they kindly reordered. They also filled a memorial cremation necklace I had ordered online with no problem and at no additional cost. We are glad fellow church members recommended them and were happy with the services we received. We did not hold a service at their facility because we wanted something less dated and more upbeat and celebratory so I cannot comment on that aspect. read more
