I want to share about my experience getting a reading to hopefully provide balanced expectations for someone who needs them. The experience of the reading itself was generally pleasant. Susan has a sweet demeanor, the setting was comfortable, and I found that this could be inwardly emotional. I was somewhat caught up in wanting to believe that it would be meaningful for me. After the emotion of the day, I reflected more and recognized that all of the statements shared with me during the reading could be grouped into one of the following categories: generic statements that can't be proven ("you're an old soul"), open-ended/broad questions, reasonable guesses, incorrect impressions, predictions, advice, and some backtracking/corrections. I realized that nothing happened that I found to be supernatural or paranormal. I also reflected on how a psychic's predictions could influence someone through the power of suggestion. If I'm told I will meet someone with fairly generic traits (brown hair, blue eyes) my mind will be more alert to people with such traits, making this more likely. I found the experience to be nothing outside of the normal realm. I did learn a lot about the influence of belief and implicit bias (my age, station in life, concerns, and sexual orientation were all guessed incorrectly). I know some folks view the experience very differently, and I hope something like this could be positive for them; I'm just writing for the person who needs to hear a balance of perspectives. Ultimately, I viewed this as a learning experience. I felt better when I deconstructed the experience and felt more in control of my own life.

We stood outside, upstairs in the patio section and read two signs. One was in front of the door that read "quiet please" which made us believe there was a session in place and another one in the patio saying that it was a quiet space and that no cellphones or loud noises were around. We thought we could wait but I told my husband to go downstairs with our toddler to wait since waiting could make our toddler impatient. So I waited 10 minutes to see if anyone would come out to greet us or tell us the session ended. Told my husband we could wait another 10 minutes to see if anyone would come out. I thought the door was locked since it alluded to someone inside getting a reading. So my husband finally asked me if the door was opened. I never bothered to look so I checked.
