Fix Cutters salon is formerly known as the Cut & Fix. I guess that they had to change the name within less than a year after opening because the place has already gained notoriety in our area for being so bad. Not quite sure if there has been a change of ownership to go with the name change but as far as I can see, it's still the same interiors, the same uniforms, and the same menu of services.
I myself have only gone to this salon once, to get my eyebrow threaded and my son's hair cut. I went with my stepmom, who also need eyebrow threading. Kiddie haircuts cost twice as much as adults'-- which I don't mind. What I minded was the way one of the staff told me of this fact--- as if it was something which I couldn't afford. To be fair, I am pretty sure that it was nothing against me, it was just that she needed to be coached on how to deal with clients. I let it pass and my kid got the haircut, which turned out fine.
But oh my god, I really wish that I had just turned and got out right there and then, instead of sitting down for my eyebrow threading. This was the most harrowing experience ever! The guy who did my brows was obviously a newbie-- he plucked the hairs so slowly that it was like torture. He repeatedly got my skin caught between the threads too, despite the assistant who was already holding my skin taut for him. I was really considering just leaving it undone but I had an event to go to the next day and no other time to get my brows done.
My stepmom, with her skin a bit less tight than mine, fared even worse. They was even more pinching and slow-mo hair pulling. By the time she was done, the whole area around her brows was swollen and red. There was no apologies from the staff-- they just acted like it was a normal consequence. Apparently, it was --- I would later talk to a couple of other neighbors who tried the salon and never went back like I did. read more
