Recently I went to Five Valley Urology in Missoula. I was set up for radiation. I had to figure details out for myself but that was okay. I needed a PSA as a follow up. Because I did not want to rely totally on Five Valleys I asked my physician for a PSA. She told me I could not get one because I was in the care of Five Valley. I said okay and followed their directions to get my PSA with Five Valley. When I followed their instructions those involved said they had never heard of me, checked their hospital records and said nothing existed. I called them and asked them "What the Fuck is going on". The person who I talked to was very offended that I said "Fuck". At that time I felt if people dying of cancer was not a priority and saying the word "Fuck" was a priority, I wanted to go through somewhere I could get a PSA so I told them to cancel all appointments and got a new primary physician so I could get a PSA. Later I got a notice that I had an appointment June 25th. I responded I cancelled all appointments and was perusing my own PSA. They responded that I could not do that because I was "under their care" I responded I did not want to be under their care and to cease this as I wanted a PSA. They sent me to John Conner their CEO. I tried to explain the problem but he talked over me. I put down the phone. He said I know you are there. I told him I would talk to him if he did not talk over me. He would not let me terminate care. He said something was wrong with me because I was angry. I told him "you would be angry too if you had cancer and people were sabotaging your ability to get care. He said there was something wrong with me because I would not discuss it with him. I told him to cut the bullshit and hang up. As I research I find this kind of behavior just might be habitual. (I will work on verifying this some more.) This violates The Right of Individual Privacy (Article II, Section 10, Montana's 1972 Constitution contains an explicit, standalone privacy clause: "The right of individual privacy is essential to the well-being of a free society and shall not be infringed without the showing of a compelling state interest." The Montana Supreme Court has consistently interpreted this text as a sweeping protection of personal and bodily autonomy. Under Montana case law, this clause shields an individual's right to make fundamental medical decisions, control their own body, and protect their physical integrity from government intrusion. I will be going to go through court to get an injunction against them so they cannot deprive me of getting a PSA. Talking to them does not seem to work. What an amazing office of skilled and dedicated people. The office runs like clockwork from the minute you walk through the front door till you leave. EVERYONE has been helpful, kind and informative. Dr. Reynolds was our initial Physician from an ER visit. Nicole saw us through our first office visit. Melissa, mostly, and Shelby when she was out scheduled surgeries, supplied us with information and LISTENED. Calling with concerns were answered with "we can see you in an hour." I apologize for not knowing the employees from that visit but they answered our concerns and we left the office feeling "taken care of." Dr. Redshaw performed surgeries and like clockwork called me to let me know surgery was complete and the outcome. We couldn't ask for better medical care! If you are wavering on this office, DON'T!!! I felt a little rushed towards the end of my appointment, did not get clear answers to all of my questions and felt too uncomfortable to ask every question that I had. I received conflicting information between lab results, the urologist's assessment of those results, and my own (and my primary care doctor's) findings. The urologist seemed reluctant to physically inspect that specific issue, instead relying solely on the lab results, despite my concern that my own experience conflicted with those results (this ultimately went unresolved). The urologist was mostly nice, but left me feeling cold (like I did something wrong?) at the end as she was clearly trying to wrap up my appointment and get me out of there. I ended up having to make another appointment with a different urologist in the same building for a separate issue. I left feeling confused and still a little concerned. I was unfortunately not very satisfied with my visit, to be completely honest. I don't know if I will go back for my future appointment or just cancel it now. Was seen by Dr Simmons, Feb 24th. Dr told me he would schedule an MRI the following week. It's now March 22nd No MRI scheduled, no following up from Dr Simmions. Westenfelder was rude, belligerent, and condescending. Rather than answer my questions regarding urinary retention, he spent the whole appointment berating me for having chosen a treatment (TULSA) over the ones he is selling! (surgery, chemo and radiation) He blamed my urinary retention (UR) on the TULSA procedure even though I had documented verbally and in writing that the UR had begun two years prior to said procedure and had become acute two months prior to the TULSA. Rather than being interested in my health Westenfelder clearly came to the appointment with his own egotistical agenda. I wouldn't let him treat me if he was the last urologist on the planet. I'd give zero stars if I could. Went to set up a payment months ago and they drew the process out to the point where it was too late to set up said payment plan. Told me it was my fault and now they're sending my family to collections. It's a shame what people do to get paid. read more

Originally made an appointment in July of 2023 because of a high PSA test. It is now March of 2024 and I only recently received a diagnosis of prostate cancer. After much waiting between test times and appointments , I only received my diagnosis after calling three times and being left to wait and worry over a weekend. Now they're wanting to change my appointment from March 21st to April 11th. This is the appointment to establish my treatment plan and all the testing will be done by the 21st I don't want special treatment but I do think that when an appointment is made you shouldn't have to wait 20 days for the next one. And this is not the first time I feel like I've just been kind of shoved aside, I'm very concerned and can't seem to get answers without calling multiple times and it's very frightening and frustrating​​​ read more

Dr Karl Westenfelder recently did a procedure for me, and I would like to say that my experience there was outstanding. Dr Westenfelder was instrumental in explaining everything to me at the pre-op, and I felt very comfortable with him doing the procedure. He was very compassionate, and I could tell he wanted to relieve any fears I had of the procedure. I joke around quite a bit, especially to relieve my fears, and it may be hard to read me sometimes, but Dr Wetenfelder is a very good communicator, and he seemed to sense my fear about the upcoming procedure, and that helped to calm me. I have no complaints with the doctors, they were great and thorough with consultations. It's the office staff I have an issue with from being disorganized, rude, not following up with paperwork and leaving out details of which location they set up various procedures. My best suggestion for patients is to follow up yourself and make phones calls to make sure paperwork has been submitted for procedures. read more

The front office staff goes from acting okay to straight out rude in no time flat, and then they make comments about patients behind their back if the patient had any questions/concerns. ​I've never felt so unwelcome in a clinic before in my life as I have here. They also make you come in for extra unnecessary visits if you want something done, because that way they can make more $$$. The doctor was okay, but considering how much you have to deal with the rude front office staff, I'd rather drive down to Bitterroot Health than deal with them again. They also made us "put down/hold" on a credit card 3x what our actual payment will be when it goes through insurance, I've never seen that kind of nonsense before in my personal life or as a medical professional, and then the receptionist was like "you should be prepared to pay the full almost $1k amount up front" in the snottiest tone I've ever heard from an adult. My experience with Five Valleys Urology was very positive. After the initial consultation and review of my condition, I felt the Doctor was thorough in his diagnosis and on explaining my options. I choose to postpone surgery initially and had a follow-up exam four months later. At that appointment I decided to have the procedure scheduled. Thankfully I was able to have the surgery done within a week! I was very pleased with my surgeon, Dr. Wicher, who explained everything to me and answered all my questions. My experience with Five Valleys Urology wasn't positive. The front desk employees are very rude and unhelpful. I wasn't able to see a doctor but rather a PA who didn't show any interest or concern with my problem. Worst experience with a health care provider in Montana. I was referred to Five Valleys Urology by my principal care physician Dr Elena Furrow due to an enlarged prostate and a high psa level.Humana Gold Plus member in good standing.Have a "updated Medicare Health Insurance card with a Medicare number instead of having SS # on front of card.SS administration has done this to eliminate fraud and identity theft. Have used this card numerous times in network approved health care providers in Montana without any problems.On checking in at front desk i was asked to provide my SS # and pay $ 100.00 prior to being seen by any medical personal.This is illegal and fraudulent on 2 levels. My Humana Gold Card clearly states on front of card,$45.00 co pay for this in network provider referred by my principal care physician who is in network also.Verified this by Humana 1-800-457-4708.SS administration also verified that my card with updated member # was valid and i was not required to provide any additional information. After calling the urologist's office in Hamilton to inquire about a procedure and being told it was not done there but being advised to call Five Valleys Urology in Missoula, I did so. The person answering the phone demanded to know if I was a patient before I could even get my question out and when I said no, snapped that I would need a referral! She was so rude I thought she was going to hang up on me before I could tell her my question was about finding out first if the procedure was done there and if it was, I would get a referral from my primary doctor. Pause. She would let me talk to a nurse--voice mail. Three hours later, not having received the promised return call, I went through the exact same things again, this time with a return call. No. They did not do the procedure. I thanked the nurse but it was good manners on my part because she just hung up. What an unpleasant experience. I am very glad I do not have to go to Five Valley Urology. They staff I spoke to was rude and far from welcoming. Since then I have talked to others who have had the same experience. I had an emergency kidney stone removal surgery and it just happened to be a urologist from five valleys that was on call that night. I was given no information on the procedure itself that I was receiving, was sent home with no pain medication no antibiotics no instruction. I had a stent left inside me with a string hanging from it that I'm supposed to pull out of my body by myself. I have been in excruciating pain and unable to do anything but move from my bed to the bathroom. Extremely distended abdomen and horrendous burning and cramping. I have called multiple times and left messages and the office staff is extremely flippant as if I'm making up the extent of my pain. The lady who finally called me after I left messages over two days told me "if you absolutely have to, come in and we will pull it out for you." I asked her if they would numb me, she told me "no, we'll just pull it out". And she also told me "you know there's lots of people who even have two stents in, they're really not that bad." Really? How are you going to tell me, that they really aren't that bad, when I am in the most physical discomfort I have ever been in in my entire life and I've had two children naturally and several surgeries from a major motor vehicle accident. This has been the most disrespectful and dismissive experience I have ever had with a medical practice in my life. read more

I'll start with the good part. Doctor Kroner was great. My procedure was fast and easy. When I gave the office my short term disability paperwork to be filled out and returned that's when the difficulties started. I began calling when I hadn't heard anything back and the office staff initially told me they'd call me back when the paperwork was filled out. When I wasn't getting a call back I followed up and was told that all paperwork is done at the end of the day although it had already been more than a day at that time. They said they'd contact me when it was ready. I continued to get no call and began to realize as I was informed very clearly the next week this type of paperwork wasn't a priority for them. When I called the next round I was continually transferred to a nurses voicemail or given a bunch of different reasons why they hadn't completed the paperwork. This included "the doctors are very busy" and "this has to go through office processing before being completed." Basically always something different and clearly I was just getting the runaround. I decided after much of this to start pushing back and explaining that I need to get this paperwork in to get some replacement income coming back. When that didn't work I got angrier which only caused me to get more belligerent comments in return like "your paperwork will not be filled out today" and the like. I left an angry message for the administrator and of course got no response as this was mid day on a Friday. I finally got angry enough with them that they all of a sudden had completed said paperwork that was literally a few check boxes and a signature in record time. I was thankful to have it done so I could send it out and get the process started but as previously stated I got a return call from the administrator John O'Connor the following Monday. He was very nasty, telling me that my paperwork is "not a priority" and "they don't have to fill it out if they don't want." He also threatened not to treat me again in the future per my getting angry with the staff. I think he fails to remember that we are the customer, not them and it was their failures to care and take care of their customers needs within a reasonable amount of time that caused their customer to get pushy. The doctor was good but if you use Five Valleys Urology, fair warning, dealing with the office staff can be a huge headache. read more

My appointment started at 2:15pm at the time of check-in I was told they didn't know where Dr. Kevin Kronner was currently, but should be on sight shortly. 3:00pm was passing, they still did not know Dr. Kronner's location, but I was put in exam room 10. About 4:00pm Dr. Karl R. Westenfelder entered exam room 10 and ask if he could fill in for Dr. Kronner.
