Spider and his crew are amazing. After having a bad experience at another shop in Vancouver, I found Spider and Five-Star and sent an email enquiry. From that first email Spider was super communicative, very helpful and made me feel confident in his work. While he had a little bit of a waiting list (most good artists will, I found) Spider took my all over the place ideas and read between the lines to come up with an incredible custom piece that I am super proud of. Even my family who are not into tattoos love this piece and feel like it is very befitting of me. Five-Star as a shop is clean and organized and they go out of their way to help you even after the tattoo is finished. Rad movies playing throughout my sessions made time (and pain) fly by. Spider is amazing! He has fixed a tattoo on my back I was so embarrassed of, some of my closest friends were not even aware I had it! Artistic ability and impressive talent, I will never get work done by another tattoo "artist" again! Spider is able to free hand draw what you want on your body and go from there. Since I actually live in Southern California, I now plan my vacations around getting new ink and existing ink fixed! He is well worth the drive, flight, train ride, or horse and carriage to get to him!! Seriously, I would highly recommend this talented gentleman to do your next tattoo, and the one after that, and the one after that!!! This is the first review I've ever left. I had Levon pierce my daughters ear lobes 2nd holes. What a mistake! Walmart did a better job on her first piercings (that's pathetic). If you want to pay for poor piercing, low quality jewelry, doctor visits for bad work, antibiotics, new jewelry of a adequate quality this is the place to go. Levon pierced her with a larger needle than the size of earring he put in. Both ears were bruised from how tight he held the forceps. Both ears bled for about a week. After her ears being so irritated and not healing normally I took to another piercer for a second opinion. Apparently piercing with a larger gauge than the size of earring you put in is just lazy work and not best for the client. I have cleaned her ears per the instructions he gave consistently & still am. Her ears are now infected. I took her to the doctor and got a prescription for antibiotics. The jewelry used appears to be poor quality and is creating issues, so now another expense. Hopefully the new jewelry will solve these issues. This is not my first experience with a body piercer. The tattoo spider did 12 years ago was/is great work. DO NOT GO HERE FOR PIERCINGS ESPECIALLY WITH LEVON!! read more

Five Star Tattoo is beyond AMAZING!! I originally heard about 5 star from my girlfriend who had work done by Spider. I went into the shop one day and that's where my journey with Amanda began. One small foot tattoo turned into to several small pieces, a cover up, and a full sleeve. Through our journey together a friendship blossomed and I am extremely happy to call Amanda my friend. I don't even know where to start.. My entire family has gotten tattooed here, including myself, two brothers and my mother and father. My mother went in today to set up an appointment, using a gift card she had bought for my brother and he never ended up using it. What do they do? They tell her we had set up an appointment previously and then never showed up for that said appointment. I NEVER made an appointment, I have no clue what they're talking about. I went in a couple of weeks ago to see a design my mother had submitted for matching tattoos and the artist completely changed the design, so I left, said it wasn't what we had imagined it would be and told her that I would be in touch. So they did not accept my mothers $165 gift card and instead said it was voided because of the "no call, no show". Needless to say I will never be back, nor will I refer anyone that I know to this shop. read more

Went there twice, thinking that he could redeem himself.... I was sadly mistaken. Levon seemed hurried and overcome with ADHD. I'd spent almost 7 hours in the chair and he took more breaks than I did. My piece went from my knuckles to my elbow and not only did he bounce around the whole tat, irritating the skin EVERYWHERE but, he missed the mark in so many places. Not shading properly, not saturating the colors evenly, not even thinking the piece all the way thru before beginning. We argued over stripes on a flag! Very displeased with my piece and concerned about his hourly rates changing from one session to the next and neither time was he ready when I showed up. Unprofessional and in my opinion unacceptable. read more

I was anxious about letting my 16 year old daughter get her nose pierced. Levon did everything perfectly to settle my fears. He follows all of the cleaning and sterilizing processes to the letter. He is patient and took time before starting to make sure we understood every step before it happened. Afterwards, he made sure my daughter and I understood all of the care needed. He is INCREDIBLY knowledgeable about skin healing and wound care. I have been a nurse for MANY years and I can say with confidence that Levon gives medical quality care and education. Super light handed, not painful, listened to my ideas as he began to work; and patient when I changed one of the images last minute. Spider is honest and collaborative. He strives to create pieces that are meaningful, and appears to throw himself into his clients mind, drawing out emotions, feelings without prodding as to the meaning (said or unsaid). The shop is a very comfortable, clean, fun, environment compared to other shops I've been. Not rude or crunchy. I believe Spider is also a mind reader. So patient with my neurosis and 15 pages of cutouts and pictures during my initial consult. Hi my name is Candice I am a five-time cancer survivor and getting a tattoo for me has always been a challenge because my skin has been so damaged from the chemotherapy ..it's very very thin and lots of tattoo parlors have told me I can't get tattoos because my skin is too thin . well I went to five star tattoos and fell in love with that place .first of all they weren't worried about my thin skin..they were worried that I was healthy and they said whatever issues I had they could handle...whatever tattoos I wanted they could make happen. That was the beginning of my relationship with this fabulous crew. They treat me like family, I can get in anytime I want ..they always make a time slot for me... they have been phenomenal!!
