I came across this shop while looking for places to get my first tattoo done, and they had good overall reviews on most internet sources. I was able to browse the work done by their various artists on Facebook, and was impressed by Spider's catalog, so I set up a quick appointment with him to map out exactly what I wanted. Upon entering the shop for the first time, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the building itself was very clean and welcoming. Spider was fantastic at helping me nail down the fine details of what I wanted, and I left the shop very excited about my upcoming appointment. Fast forward several sessions and many hours of work, I couldn't be happier with the results. The piece Spider crafted is beautiful, and exactly what I had envisioned when I first set foot in the shop for my consultation. The tattooing process itself was a pleasure. They have movies playing to keep your mind off the pain, and Spider is very engaging and conversational. Although I wasn't nervous and my pain tolerance didn't cause any issues, the overall atmosphere is very calming and would help even the most anxious of patrons feel safer. The work quality speaks for itself, as I've gotten many compliments from complete strangers. Originally I planned on going to other shops in the area for other work, but after my first tattoo, I didn't feel the need to go anywhere else. Went to Spider for my first tattoo, after hearing a mix of different experiences from other people who went to all sorts of different shops. It was something I had been talking about with him for a while--a deeply personal piece, something I have had in mind for a while, now. He helped bring it to life with his artistic vision, and I couldn't be more pleased. The atmosphere was really unique, very calm, with televisions on display to keep my attention on something other than my nerves. Spider was awesome, helped assuage my nerves, and was incredibly attentive as far as the size of my piece and placement. He really listened and helped me pick the best placement and alignment against my shoulder. It was a super relaxed, professional space. As far as the tattoo itself, it healed perfectly. The work is beautiful. The lines are crisp, the colors are lovely, and I'm so, so pleased. I definitely won't go to another shop. Five-star is the only place for me. read more

I've been a customer of Five Star Tattoo for 13 years and will not go anywhere else. The artists are talented and professional. Amanda is an amazing artist, everytime that I've gone to her with a vague idea of what I wanted (which is pretty much everytime) what she designs always exceeds anything I could have imagined. I have a sleeve, a large calf piece, and a top of the foot tattoo from her. I would recommend her to anyone and a couple of my friends have gone to her after seeing her work. Spider did my first tattoo the day after my 18th birthday. He made me feel at ease and comfortable while getting my hip tattoo. I have since then gotten a Wonderland sleeve from him. Amanda Midland has been tattooing my husband and I for the past 8 years. We would never have anyone else create and execute our tattoos. She can take the simplest idea and create an intricate piece of art. Because of her extensive skill, creativity and tattoo experience/knowledge, I trust her completely and often ask her to simply free hand or create detail as she sees fit. I had my earlobes pierced by Levon earlier this evening. He was knowledgeable, calming, and his cleaning and sterility procedure was top-notch. I fainted after the piercing and Levon and another fellow there sat me on a chair and let me sweat it out and regain consciousness. Levon dabbed the cold sweat away while the other man blew on my face. Then they gave me a sucker. They definitely didn't have to take care of me like that, and that is why I will come back any time I need to have work done. Excellent experience. read more

Yes! Honestly the best shop I've been to, and I'm as picky as they come. Amanda Midland does my tattoos and has done incredible work that I get complemented on regularly. Very clean shop, as they prep while you're there and they've exhibited superb cleanliness. Extremely friendly artist and literally laugh a good majority of my visit. I recently came to Justin "spider" for a consultation, with an idea of a tree I wanted and didn't have much beyond that, and a drawing I had made. When I came back for the appointment, I wasn't sure where I wanted the piece to go, he helped me with amazing placement and worked the piece to flow with my body. He free handed my entire piece. My husband and I have been tattooed a number of times by Amanda at Five Star, most recently she did our amazing wolf tattoos that we had done for our 10 year anniversary last month.
