I called a contractor I had worked with previously, and also Benning Construction. The owner, Eric Benning, came to my home personally to provide an estimate. He told me up front that he was probably going to be more expensive than my other bid, but that he was worth it. He was right. With that said, the value he and his team brought to the project far exceeded the price difference (which was about 8%). His team put together a full project plan and managed all the subs necessary. They showed up on time every single day throughout the project. They took ZERO money up front, and billed only for work completed, after it had been done. All I had to do was pick my counter tops, color, and open the door each morning when they showed up (ON TIME). The people who work for Benning enjoy what they do, are clean, polite, and extremely good at their profession. Every night before they headed out, they vacuumed the ENTIRE work area, put their stuff away, and made the whole kitchen renovation process as easy as possible. In fact, we hardly had to go out at all, as the way they timed all the work only put my kitchen out of commission for a total of three days or so. The rest of the time I was able to use my appliances, sink, etc. We recently sold the house they did the kitchen renovation in, and the kitchen was a major factor in making the sale quickly, and getting top dollar for it. Benning also did a custom accent wall at our request, which was beautiful. Everyone who entered the house couldn't help but gasp when they saw it. I reached out to 3 different roofing companies to get quotes. I ended up going with B&B Brothers for our roof and I am glad I did. We paid for them to redo all the shingles, replace any damaged plywood, and update our bedroom skylight as well. The owner did offer us a cash discount which I appreciated. During the job, some stucco on the house was damaged while they pulled old shingles and they did repair the damage at no extra cost. Cons: They sent over a contract but it had expired by the time I was done getting estimates from different companies. I think ensuring a contract is signed before work starts would have added more peace of mind to both parties. Pros: The work was done incredibly fast and I felt they had pretty good communication while the work was getting done. They also did a good job cleaning up majority of the debris from the work which is nice. They also painted our roof fixtures to match the hickory color. I am sure costs are going to vary based on roof size, condition of roof/plywood, and etc but we got this done for under $20k which felt like a very doable price. Overall, I was happy with the job they did and the price I paid. Also, the roof looks fantastic and makes the whole house look great!

Augustin has competitive rates and will go through his quote to explain all items and clarify any questions regarding the scope and type of work that needs to be done and does not begin work until all questions have been answered. His crew were always on time and conducted themselves very professionally on the job site. If one of them were not able to answer a question, Augustin can be reached very quickly over the phone/text to get the matter cleared up. All of our projects have been completed on-time or if there was a delay, he would explain the reason for the extension so there were no questions. Also, all financial questions are answered as soon they come up and if there is a need to increase the budget (or use an item/material that is more expensive then originally planned) Augustine will go into detail for the reason there needs to be a change and is open to negotiate the difference in cost. I would not hesitate to use Soto Construction for any work that we have planned for the future.
