Nice, clean store. I'm giving it a 5-star rating for their ready-made food in the back. I had the goat curry, which was delicious!!

The owner will harass you if you try to get tea without buying anything. She made a huge scene

They are starting to add more pastries and the displays are looking good, especially with the sesame buns and cheesy tarts, etc. I'm surprised that they are trying to beat pastry prices in the area and it's definitely looking good here. Decent prices and good looking pastries. Still feels like a startup though. Cashiers are training and doing their jobs. Hashi Market has been upgrading too. I purchased 3 large bags of dumplings for only $10. It was a good sale this weekend. Celery pork/leek-scallions pork/cilantro chicken/etc. I think their fresh vegetables have dropped in prices too ($1.49-$2.99 per lbs.). Finally. I come here for tofu selections too. You can also find good 1liter healthy coconut water for under $3 each now. Hashi Market is slowly improving and training more new employees inside. This grocery store is convenient and they have made the aisles more spacious to walk around. Food deli area is still operating. I think the place is much better now compared to when it was the Marina grocery store in past years. Japanese products are showing up more and things are more positive here. I'll be back to try a few more breads/buns. $1.99 for good looking breads is cheap and decent here.

I have had to go to Fremont to Osaka Market, or to Mitsuwa on Saratoga Ave, or to Nijiya or even Sakura in downtown SJ. We have many Chinese-Vietnamese Asian markets nearby Milpitas. I, along with a few of my neighbors are hoping that Hashi goes forward with the conversion to carry more Japanese items and bentos at Marina. Disappointing.

Though, they have no area to sit down. They have good prices on some of their produce and other things. I also like that the prices are bold. LOL. NOTE: They do no allow photos!!! While I was shopping and taking pics of ingredients for a particular recipe I was going to make. An elderly gentlemen approached me and asked, "Why are you taking photos?" I answered, "Oh, I am going to write a review." He looked puzzled, then replied, "We don't allow photos!" Oh, ok this person is on staff at the market. Alright. I am not deterred. I found some good prices on produce. Overall, 3.5 stars. Support your local business.

After years of construction, I was excited to finally check out Lee's Supermarket in San Jose, but…read morethe experience was pretty lackluster. Honestly, it didn't feel like a newly remodeled store. It felt more like they just put up a new sign outside. They might as well have had a banner that said "under new management." Lee's is known for their great sandwiches, so I expected more of a café-style setup where you could browse a variety of sandwiches and maybe sit down to eat. Instead, there's no seating area and the menu is just a large LCD screen listing sandwich names and prices with no photos. The store itself feels cramped, with most of the space dedicated to shelves rather than any place to relax or enjoy food. I was hoping for something closer to a Whole Foods style experience where you could grab a sandwich, a drink, and maybe meet friends. Instead, it feels like a typical Asian market without much innovation. The one cool touch was that every checkout lane had fresh baked baguettes ready to go. That and my sandwich was delicious but instead of eating it right than and there I had to drive home in traffic and eat it cold. I just love eating em' freshly made and the bread right out of the oven. For sandwiches, I'll probably stick to the regular Lee's Sandwich locations nearby.

Mom likes the vegetables and fruit section and says the prices are good. I think the products also cater to Vietnamese/ Chinese customers. Whenever we go during the week days, it's not too crowded and you have room to go around with your cart. Also, let's talk about the smell of grocery stores...you know what I'm talking about. If it smells bad, you have a sense their cleanliness is an issue. This market doesn't smell bad, so that's a good sign. The lines queue up, but the cashiers are quick and they get you in and out. I can imagine the parking lot could be full on weekends.

I will say though that I don't like how ginger and shallots are offered in bulk, so I go to Lucky's or Safeway for them but I usually take care of everything in one place. Oh, I like to get my ground meat from Lucky's or Safeway or Walmart because of the fat content. I want to see the nutrition label as opposed to asking the gentlemen in the back to get me 2lbs, etc. w/o knowledge of how much fat is in it even if I choose "lean." Go early because parking is not easy and the store can be incredibly crowded. Lines aren't messy even though they can be long. I'm an easy customer and because I'm OCD, I load the items on the conveyer by categories and I inform the checker at the beginning that I would like to purchase bags - as many as needed but usually I eyeball it and tell them I need 5 bags, etc. I have made the following dishes from the groceries I purchased here: 1. pho 2. kimchi udon 3. canh dua 4. heo quay 5. pho xao bo 6. mi xao bo 7. thit dong 8. ca ri ga 9. bun rieu 10. banh gio I don't have any complaints.
