They failed to complete the job, leaving parts of our home exposed to the weather for two full months. We hired Clarkston Roofing to re-roof our home and install aluminum siding on 10 windows. The salesperson recommended adding five roof vents ("roof cans"), which we agreed to. When the crew completed the roofing, I noticed they hadn't installed the extra vents. Only after I pointed it out did they correct the oversight. That alone raised red flags about their attention to detail. The real trouble started with the aluminum window siding. When I showed Tony how poorly it was done, he admitted it wasn't up to his standard and promised to "get his best siding guy on it." That was on May 12th. It's now July 12th--two months later--and no one has returned to complete the work. Meanwhile, our windows remain exposed. I had to repeatedly call Tony week after week, only to hear excuses like, "He's on a big job, he'll be there next week." Every promise turned out to be empty. The lack of follow-through and professionalism has been appalling. I paid in full the roofing portion, in cash, trusting that they would honor the agreement and deliver the rest of the work on our signed purchase order agreement. I didn't haggle or delay payment, trying to support the crew and show good faith. That was a big mistake--they took the money and never came back. This company does not stand behind its word or its work. I would not recommend Clarkston Roofing to anyone.

Received a mail advertisement for them and decided to call to possibly schedule a "free estimate"…read more Their website says they schedule free estimates as well. However, when I spoke to someone, I was expected to know the square footage of my deck (which is difficult because it's large, oddly shaped and wraps around my house. I've never measured it before). I also have an elevated deck. Their ad states additional charge for decks elevated over 7 feet. My deck is no more than 5-6 feet elevated and I was told it would be an extra charge anyway. Hmmm. I was told that since my deck was painted by the prior homeowner, it would be better to sand it (and they only sand horizontal surfaces) and it was crazy expensive per square foot to sand it (more than $6/SqFt.). Vertical surfaces would cost even more. Then I asked if they would come out to provide a proper estimate and they refused and said they needed me to tell them the size of the deck and any other things I needed (like knowing if and how many boards to replace). Then I could just do the math and determine my estimate. Seriously? That's like having a concrete company give you an estimate for a driveway replacement over the phone only, relying on the homeowner to know and understand all the nuances of what work needs to be done, then determining how much it would cost and ultimately hoping the invoice will match the homeowner's "guess". Personally, I can't consider using a company that won't take the time to visit the site and prepare a proper estimate to a homeowner for work that could easily exceed thousands of dollars. They talk in their ads about repeat business and trust. Trust is earned for service based businesses. I just don't take chances with my hard earned money.

This guy is a liar and a fraud. He billed for 200 linear feet of fence, estimated 191 feet in his…read more"drawing" and only put in 178 ft, leaving piles of materiel around and trash bags in BUSHES!!! On top of that, his crew damaged my power to the house. He denies any of this, claiming that the water (we have a well) and electric were messed up when they arrived last Friday morning. I have pictures, video, witnesses, and home inspection reports that clear show/state that there were no electrical or water problems prior to "good ol' Eddie" and his crew. I have his "drawing" of the fence dimensions and the digital measurements that show he lied and FAILED. He did put in a MISS DIGG Ticket, as did I. And he told me something was weird and that he would make some calls. I told him in person the day before they did the fence work that the previous owner said that the gas and electric for the main house came in on the back corner. So he overestimated material needed, even given that he shorted me TWENTY-TWO FEET of fence. He did not put it where I wanted...put the gate on one side about a FOOT from the stair case so nothing can go through that gate save for a person going straight up the stairs. He damaged my power, and maybe my well pump and tried to claim it was already bad. I am going through a lawyer and my insurance (his insurance Bois Insurance, seems only there to protect him, not his customers when he screws up) but this guy needs to be reported. On top of everything else, my wife and I are both dealing with some health things AND I am a disabled Vet...something good ol' Eddie was told in passing...apparently he has no problem screwing over people and stressing out people just to gain a quick buck.

In one case, their quote was less than half of a competitor from the Detroit area that was trying to break into our market in mid-Michigan. (What a scam - and it's proof that on big items it definitely pays to get more than one quote.) We were impressed by the way they kept the clean-up constantly going from taking off the old shingles until the job was completed. They took great care with our substantial landscaping too. The team showed up when promised and finished the re-roofing quickly within a few days. The owner was wonderful to deal with, and we were very happy with the job they did.
